Built-in Gas Grills
Built-in gas grills (which are also referred to as drop-ins, grill heads, or grill inserts) are placed into a BBQ island as part of a larger outdoor kitchen. They can often be purchased with full lines of matching outdoor kitchen equipment, allowing you to create a cohesive aesthetic in your backyard. Built-in grills make for a natural gathering place in your outdoor area, and can often add significant value to your home.
Freestanding Gas Grills
Rather than being built into a structure, freestanding gas grills are placed on a movable cart that usually has an enclosed storage area for fuel tanks and cooking accessories. These grills are more mobile than built-ins, meaning you can rearrange your outdoor setup with little hassle. Look for freestanding grills with a side burner so you can prepare side dishes or simmer your favorite sauce for basting.
How-to-buy 3x Static Card List Example
Much has changed since the early days of gas grilling, when post-mounted grills that used natural gas were the norm. The past 20 years alone have brought plenty of changes, and BBQGuys® has seen several grilling fads come and go in that time. But some innovations — such as infrared sear burners, multi-fuel grills, and rotisseries of all shapes and sizes — have withstood the test of time and become staples of the gas grill industry.
Sear Burners for Gas Grills
Rather than creating convection heat that warms the air inside the firebox, sear burners emit huge amounts of radiant heat to cook only the food directly above it. That's why they're also referred to as infrared burners, which are usually made using a perforated ceramic plate that's heated by a gas flame until it becomes red-hot. Sear burners like those on the Victory gas grill efficiently deliver steakhouse-level results and don't dry out your food like a conventional burner might (how does 35% more moisture retention sound?).
Multi-fuel Grilling
These grills make it possible to cook using different types of fuel on the same grill. American Muscle Grills take this concept to the extreme with removable trays designed for charcoal, pellets, wood chunks, and actual wooden logs in addition to the typical gas fuel source. There are also gas/charcoal combo grills, like the Coyote Centaur, that pair two fully realized BBQ grills together in a single cooking machine. If you love the idea of multi-fuel grilling but would prefer something more modest, then look for a standard gas grill from a brand that offers a charcoal tray accessory for the best of both worlds.
Gas Grill Rotisseries
Often paired with rear infrared burners, rotisseries create mouthwatering dishes and add a wow factor for outdoor entertainers. Food is placed on a spit rod and slowly rotated over the burners, allowing meat to baste in its own juices that continually roll across its surface. The results are tender and flavorful, and a slowly rotating, glistening cut of meat makes for quite the sight. Some Luxury grill brands, like Hestan and Fire Magic, have chain-driven rotisserie motors hidden within the grill body that steadily spin and can support up to 60 pounds of food. Other models are compatible with rotisserie kit accessories.
How to Buy 4x Static Card List Example
To make our industry-leading selection of gas grills easier to navigate, we sorted every model into 1 of 4 clearly defined classes — Luxury, Premium, Practical, and Entry-Level. Each class reflects a grill's quality, features, and performance so you can get right to the BBQ grills that have everything you're looking for. Choosing the right gas grill class for your needs is crucial for narrowing your search and taking the next step toward completing your backyard.
Luxury Gas Grills
- Highest possible quality of parts and materials, generally backed by lifetime warranties
- Beautifully designed to serve as an attractive outdoor centerpiece
- Top-of-the-line features make cooking engaging and entertaining
- The most reliable cooking systems and widest temperature ranges of all gas grills
Premium Gas Grills
- Usually built entirely with 304, commercial-grade stainless steel
- Long-lasting grills, some with lifetime warranties, that can be built into a BBQ island
- Wide range of accessories allow you to personalize your grill
- Produce consistent, dependable results along with easy-to-control heat
Practical Gas Grills
- Built using a mix of stainless and painted steel, with warranties up to 10 years
- Wallet-friendly with adequate quality and dependability
- Cooking versatility is limited by smaller range of features and size options
- Decent heat retention, though temperatures top out around 500° Fahrenheit
Entry-Level Gas Grills
- The most affordable and accessible grills, making them a popular choice among beginners
- May compromise to meet low price points, resulting in a wide range of overall quality
- Usually made from painted or porcelain-coated steel with short warranties, with a few notable exceptions
As you can see, warranties play a big role in how we judge gas grills. That's why we recommend that you always check the warranty before purchase. Grills with a long-lasting warranty from brands with good customer service are highly desirable because you'll be taken care of should any part fail or need to be replaced down the road.

Size Matters
Eating pork ribs is often a one-handed affair. Meanwhile, if beef ribs take up a lot of room
raises eyebrows, you'll want to brush up on your cattle anatomy.
Savor the Flavor
The bigger, fattier animal always boasts the stronger natural taste. With that said, the milder taste of pork ribs will take your seasonings much further.
Single Spark Ignition
This method requires you to use two hands — one pushes a button to fire a single spark from a piezoelectric igniter, while the turns the burner knob to create gas flow. Because of the relative complexity and smaller odds of first-time lighting, single spark ignition is common among side burners and low-priced grills.

Complex Split Cards
Beef Plate Short Ribs
AKA:
Plate Ribs,
Loaded Beef Ribs
Not always the easiest to come by for the backyard grill master, but let's be frank: it doesn't
get bigger or badder than this. One beefy plate short rib typically weighs in at 1-2 pounds,
proudly serving 2-3 by itself. Pulled from the lower ribcage, the brisket on a stick
boasts
ample fat for maximum moisture. Did we mention they often sell in full stacks of three? Have fun!
- Tougher to source, but well worth it
- Huge bones with plenty of meat
- Full of flavorful fat and collagen
- Often sold in 3-bone slabs
Beef Back Ribs
AKA:
Dinosaur Ribs
Often forgotten by all but pioneering pit masters, beef back ribs are pulled from the rear portion of the rib cage near the spine. Surprisingly, they can be limited on meat; you can thank prime rib for that, as it's cut from the adjacent space. Back rib meat is mostly found between the bones themselves, but boy is it delicious! (We'll cut prime rib some slack, just this once.)
- Located close to ribeye and prime rib
- Thicker bones, usually 8 inches wide
- Generally less meat (but less prep)
- Under-appreciated by comparison
Standout Text Component

How-To Guide
Cutting Chicken Wings
- If necessary, trim excess fat from the top of the drum.
- Flip the chicken wing so the skin side faces down on the cutting board and the bones and joints are visible.
- Stretch out the wing so you can make a clean cut between both the wing tip and flat, then the flat and the drum. Use your fingers to find the joints between each piece, which contain cartilage and are much easier to slice than bone. When just getting started, you may find it helpful to cut through the skin so you can see the bones, then pop the joints to help you know exactly where to cut between them.
- Locate the bone ridge in the joint between the wing tip and the flat. Cut straight through, then discard or keep the tip to make a stock.
- Locate the ridge of the drum bone that ends in the joint between the drum and flat. Place your knife or blades of your kitchen shears next to the ridge, then cut straight through to separate. If the blade doesn't slide right through, feel again for the ridge and reposition the cut as necessary.
“Key Takeaways” Article Summary Variant
A summary is supposed to communicate the key points of a piece of long-form content. A summary at the beginning of the article helps readers quickly determine if the article is relevant to them. Additionally, providing a summary right away gives users a roadmap, informing them of what is to come.
Key Takeaways
- Content summaries should be concise and to the point
- Content summaries should be easy to distinguish from the rest of the text
- Use a bulleted list If there are several or more key takeaways
- Bullet points can be paired with in-page links to serve as a table of contents
- When each bullet is verbose, it can result in an undesirable wall of text
Key Takeaways
- Be Brief: Content summaries should be concise and to the point. If your piece has several major takeaways, use a bulleted list to make them scannable and easy to consume.
- Subtly Distinguished: Content summaries should be easy to distinguish from the rest of the text. A descriptive heading (e.g., ‘Summary’ or ‘Key Takeaways’) and a distinct visual treatment (such as borders and shading) can draw attention to the summary.
- UX Laws of Proximity and Similarity: Use a bulleted list If there are several or more key takeaways. They support scanning, emphasize key points, and reveal relationships among items.
- Content Navigation: Bullet points can be paired with in-page links to serve as a table of contents. In-page links help users navigate to specific content sections on the same page.
- Efficient Scanning: Bullets are a powerful formatting device only if used properly. When the content presented in each bullet point is lengthy, it can still result in an undesirable wall of text.

- Brands offer full lines of matching outdoor kitchen equipment for a cohesive aesthetic
- Lifetime warranties are the norm, and some include the benefit of labor coverage
- Top-of-the-line features provide a luxury experience for you and your guests
- The most reliable ignitions and cooking systems along with innovate technologies
- Most cooking versatility and widest temperature ranges of any grills
Quality
Luxury grills should last a lifetime* and serve as a truly worthwhile investment that'll yield years of enjoyment for you and your guests. They're built entirely with high-quality materials like commercial-grade, 304 stainless steel that can stand up to repeated cooks and the test of time. In addition to their durable construction, Luxury grills boast superior craftsmanship and attention to detail in the form of fully welded seams, sleek lines, and hand-polished edges. With such strong aesthetics, these high-end models are designed to be the eye-catching centerpiece of just about any outdoor kitchen setup.
Performance
The cooking systems of Luxury grills are generally quite forgiving, meaning you can briefly step away from the pit to socialize with guests without worrying if your food will burn. They're known especially for creating even heat that minimizes hot/cold spots, allowing food to cook uniformly and at the same speed. Flare-ups are just as rare, but when they do occur, they result in the flame-kissed food that every home cook desires instead of a runaway fire. Additionally, Luxury grills can reach ultra-high temperatures for restaurant-quality sear marks and sink to the low end for more delicate items.
Features
From hood lift assist functions to heat zones separators, Luxury grills turn cooking into an effortless experience. They remove the guesswork of grilling with front-facing viewing windows and extremely accurate analog thermometers, not to mention the built-in grease management systems that make cleanup a breeze. Integrated rotisseries are common in this grill class, which is also notable for its wide range of possible accessories such as smoker boxes, pizza stones, and steamer trays. Throw in built-in safety systems and hood lights for nighttime grilling, and you've got a group of grills that leave nothing to be desired.

Electric charcoal starters like the Looflighter can get your fire lit in under a minute and give you more time to entertain, relax, and enjoy yourself. More importantly, an electric starter will prevent your food from having any chemical lighter fluid taste. Wood adds a smoked accent to your meal and can really enhance your grilling experience. Maximum widths
The non-responsive utility classes only work for tablet and desktop. There are no mobile-specific sizes as mobile really shouldn't have any set maximum widths. All of the following maximum width elements are percentage based and therefore subjective to their parent container's width. Any missing sizes can be added as needed.
Defaults
The following are the max-width classes applied to both tablet and desktop (default) viewports.
Tablet-only
The following are the max-width classes applied to tablet viewports only.
Desktop-only
The following are the max-width classes applied to desktop viewports only.
Alignments
The following demonstrates the max-width classes for both the left, centered (default), and right alignments as applied to all viewports. As can be seen below, the alignment only applies to the container, not its contents. The default alignment is centered.
Responsive choreography
The following is a mixed use of the maximum width classes when they are stacked for responsiveness. In the following example, the width of each element is set in a reverse order. So the desktop widths will be reversed for tablet view.
Classes and modifiers
There isn't a traditional base class, but the prefix, .max-w- class that can have any of the preset
modifiers appended to it that handles a lot of the heavy lifting.
There are only two optional responsive modifiers for tablet and desktop.
There are also multiple required size modifiers and two optional alignment modifiers.
These should be stacked with the size class(es) when the alignment needs to differ.

Replacement examples
We commonly use similar classes across many content templates, but these classes are highly limiting and they
don't provide much re-usability or scalability. The following are just a few examples of where these classes can
and should be used instead of what is currently being used. If it is later found that we need differing sizes
that aren't provided here, then we can add them. Also, if any of the provided sizes aren't used at all then they
can be removed. Other potential uses would be removing the left and right padding on the top-rated article
content template and apply, .max-w-75p instead - the visual difference is negotiable at approx.
