Do I Need an Outdoor TV? What Makes the Best Outdoor TVs Different?

Outdoor TVs are asked to endure an environment much harsher than an indoor TV which is why outdoor TVs usually have a higher price tag. Even the remote controls are all-weather! There’s no compromising on an outdoor-rated television's durability, strength, and luxury.
Can't I Just Put My Indoor TV Outdoors?
Well, you CAN, but we don't recommend it. Even if you live in an awesome climate, the outdoor environment is much harsher than your family room—humidity is usually higher, you have to deal with potential rain, and temperatures are much more extreme (usually in both directions). Outdoor TVs are engineered or treated to handle those conditions, and the screen brightness is usually tweaked to make it easier to see the picture outdoors during the day. You also may want to check your TV's warranty—in many cases, using it outdoors may invalidate coverage.
Sunlight & Outdoor TVs
The screen on an outdoor television reduces glare with an LCD or LED panel, resulting in a crisper picture under natural outdoor lighting conditions. For best results, mount your outdoor TV in the shade of your patio and face your outdoor TV north (if possible) to further reduce glare from the sun throughout the day. To further combat sunlight and glare, most outdoor TVs are optimized for either full sun, partial sun, or shade.
Weather & Outdoor TVs
Outdoor TVs have been built with weather-resistant materials and weatherproof technologies to help them endure the extremes. An outdoor-approved TV will handle the increased humidity, salty air, very high or low temperatures, and occasional splashes with no trouble. We recommend having an outdoor tv cover on hand to provide extra protection when your TV is not in use.
Smart Outdoor TVs
As with their indoor counterparts, Smart Outdoor TVs have built-in internet connectivity, allowing them to access a wide array of services like Netflix, Hulu, or ESPN. Many Smart Outdoor TVs also allow operation via a smartphone app.
