Weber Performer Deluxe 22-Inch Freestanding Charcoal Grill With Touch-N-Go Ignition - Green

This is the second performance deluxe for me. After 10 years the gas canister on the old could not be refilled due to some law. The grill was rusted in some spots so I bought a new one, sight unseen. The new one uses those small camping gas canisters. For the first year, I put up with having to change those nearly every time I grilled. I got fed up and called customer service. After ascertaining that I was using it correctly ( turning it off as soon as the coals got going etc), the nice service rep said that the gas regulator and hose assembly must be defective and sent me a new one. Problem solved! But, this is still not as good as the old one where I got the canister filled once or twice a year. The old model had a hook where you hung the grate while the cools heated up. This model doesn't, so you have to find some where to place it. The tools knobs are a different smaller type that barely hold one implement. The thermometer is in a different spot on the hood. I used to be able to see the temp from my kitchen window, now I must go outside to check. Little design tweaks make such a difference. Did you even have a prototype to test your changes.

I had been a gas grill guy for the last 25+ years. My wife had an old Weber kettle in college but I didn't know how to use charcoal correctly. This grill makes charcoal as convenient as gas. Take the classic kettle, add auto ignition and a great workspace, and you now have the best of both worlds. I will never go back to propane.

Bought this grill two months ago to replace a regular 22" stand-alone model. It was time to go all out on features. I've used every one of the Performer's features and conveniences and found all of them to be easy to use and well-designed. The optional copper color is very handsome and a classy change from the basic black. Everything down to the sturdiness of the legs and wheels, the quick lighting of the coals without lighter fluid, the charcoal bin, the timer, and very handy hangers for grill tools and even a slot from which you can hang the food grill itself - everything is well designed and a joy to use.

Smoke and grill every weekend and not happy about a major flaw. The shelf at the bottom will not stay in place. I have to wheel it out of my detached garage and the charcoal bin causes it to detach and rub on the ground. If you have to move this you might want to reconsider a less expensive model that wont fall apart. Might have to buy something to keep the legs together but shouldn't have to with a 500 dollar investment.

I've had this grill for 10 years now absolutely love it no more lighter fluid to start the charcoal. And it's affordable unlike some of the other grills. I use it at least twice a week. Best grill for the money hands-down .

Have grilled and/or smoked every weekend since purchase. Like the rear slot to hold grill plate but removable center piece for gourmet accessories isn't going to stay in place when hung vertically!

Great setup however it could use something to help remove center grate and a place to hang grate. It goes through a lot of propane when following directions to turn gas on one full turn. I have found that one quarter turn of the gas works just fine.

This is my second Weber, the first one lasted over ten years and when the gas lines finally gave out I figured it was time for a new twenty first century grill. There was only one choice a new Weber. I especially like the new gas tank assembly, new electric starter and the built in timer.

I bought this grill a month ago and used it several times already and it cooked better than my old weber grill. Love it!!
