My 3rd. Weber, came back to charcoal for the taste, would buy it again

This is my second gas fired Weber having purchased the first one soon after they came out back in the 90"s, I believe. I got away from coal but came back with the purchase of the Performer Deluxe. I have two issues with it. First, and it has cost me money, is the grill that comes with it. The center of it comes out to accommodate accessory cooking like pizza and wok style. Seems like a good idea, nice perk for spending more money on the Deluxe. Well, it's not! The center piece easily falls out or dislodges with the slightest of movement, putting it in or taking it out. So to the point that i had to configure a hooking device to try to keep it in place. Still a problem so I spent almost $30 buying a Weber grill without the removable center. I think the Deluxe should have been offered with a standard grill (I don't think most people will use the grill as intended and to do so means you spend money on accessories) or at least a better designed grill with a removable center. Second issue was the igniter stopped working after about six or so ignites. Weber did send a new one under warranty. But, other than those two things I am happy with the grill.

I've owned this type of Weber grill for the past 18 years and absolutely loved them. I ordered this one from Lowe's and it was shipped from a company in Ohio. The lid doesn't fit the kettle correctly and it takes several minutes to force the lid on the kettle well enough to start cooking. Big disappointment. Other than the lid fit the kettle cooks great like all the other Weber kettles I've owned.

This is my second performer grill. My first one lasted 15 years and this one has new and better features. There nothing like Kansas City steaks on this grill!

I am a Weber enthusiast, the performer deluxe is my latest addition. I have had several kettles over the years and currently use a ranch kettle, a performer, this performer deluxe, a little joe and genesis 2 lx. I use them all, each for different things. Webers warranty can not be beat, I have had several problems with the new one being the grate flaked and exposed copper underneath and started to corrode in under 6 cooks, the warranty replaced it. Another problem I have and there is no other way too say it but the caster wheels are junk, cheap plastic, even on my ranch kettle, cheap plastic that does not last, Weber really needs to invest in something a little more durable for their product. Even with that said, I would not buy any other kettle.

After three months of use I am so happy with this grill. It replaces the 22" kettle I have had for years. Being able to start the charcoal by pushing a button is amazing. Then I can grill over charcoal and enjoy!. I am saving up to get a pizza insert, then I will have it all. PS: I still use the old one for parties when I need more grill surface. I start the chimney in the performer and pour it into the old grill.

My first Weber charcoal grill, I usually upgrade the genesis every few years but this time I got both and I love the performer deluxe, it's so convenient when it comes to lighting the charcoal. The taste is unmatched, I've smoked beef short rib, whole chicken and grilled skirt steak, burgers, pork chops, fish and veggies and it all tastes amazing! And managing the temperature is a breeze. I definitely would recommend this grill, well worth the money!

This was a gift from my company. I have a 15 year old silver 22" kettle getting near the end of life. The performer is many steps above. Gas lights a grill can great, takes about 3 min of gas. I only use the timer for that, set to 3 min. The table is heavy duty, the lid holder works pretty good, but seems like scratching or ware on the lid is a possibility. I put charcoal in used laundry pod containers and fill the bin with them, it will hold 20lbs and easy to grab a container and dump. Grill can lives under on rack nicely. Wheels roll better than expected on my very ruff old wood deck. A 14" carbon steel grill wok works well in the grate hole and the table nice when doing stir fry. I suspect I will have this 15-20 years. I probably would not have paid extra for the performer, after using tho, thinking that would have been a mistake.

I have been propane for 30 years - most of the time Genesis Silver family. Finally decided to try charcoal, and all I can say is what was I waiting for. About the grill. Easy to assemble and use, gas light makes it a breeze. The charcoal trays are nice for indirect - did the most juicy beer can chicken ever! One thing, purchase the Weber rapid fire chimney - its a breeze with that and the gas light - fill chimney, light with gas for 5 minutes, turn off gas, let coals go anther 25 minutes and perfect coals every time!! The only downside to this purchase is the wife has been asking for alot more stuff grilled :)
