Temp issues do to power source
When I first started this up. I could not get It up to temp. After reading more into the manual. I realized my extension cord was not the right gauge and was too long. I discovered in order to get it to the 350f required for break in, that you need to use wood chips, and you need to bring it up to 225 for 20 minutes before cranking it up.. I plugged it directly into the wall and made sure to do this. I was able to get it to 350 to do the burn off! I think most issues with this smoker resulted from user error and a bad power source or improper extension cord!

I purchased a Pitt Boss Series 3 Electric Smoker and it worked great for a while but Customer Service was very kind and helpful with remedying the problem quickly. I has since received the Red Rock Series 2 gas Smoker. Both were easy to assemble (good instructions) and the Red Rock works great. The gas allows me to take it camping. Holds temperature well once you learn the settings.

Was working great used 6 times now
Had my smoker little under a year now and it keeps popping when I set the time and temperature. I go through set it all up and hit set and it acts like it try's to turn the element on and makes a pop noise and shuts off. Circuit board issue? Is this still under warranty?

Works perfectly!
I have had this in Colorado for a few months, but weather kept me from really using it. After moving to Florida a few months ago, I've been on it quite a bit. Simply love it! Temperature Issues
I bought the Pit Boss Series 3 electric smoker about a month ago. So far I'm happy with the product. However, I cannot seem to get the temperature to go over 250°. I used yesterday to smoke some queso dip and to reheat some pulled pork and the heat element ran the entire time (3.5 hrs) and the highest temp was 250°. HELP!

Hi Burt. According to the manufacturer, pellets can create too much fire inside the smoker and less smoke, whereas wood chips will smolder with less heat and more smoke.

Question:
My husband's first smoker is a homemade one using a small Weber grill and hotplate coils....he wants to move up to a bigger unit and this one seems a good next step. Is this a good complete smoker for the relative beginner to use? We also heard that a fair amount of heat is lost if you have to open the smoker to add water/chips. Is that true and if so, does that happen with this unit? Thanks!

Hi Hilary, thanks for asking! These smokers are pretty simple to use, they're great for both the experienced and inexperienced. Lose of heat and smoke should be expected to occur when opening these up while in use, however, if y'all are noticing that it is a lot of heat, you'll want to consult the manual for Maintenance or call us at 877-743-2269 if the issue could not be resolved. Hi Scott. As the main material used for construction is not stainless steel, we would recommend getting a cover for it or storing it under shelter whenever possible to maximize longevity.

Why does my meat get dried out? Could I use a cooking bag and still get the smoke effect?

Great question! Unfortunately, using a cooking bag will prevent the smoke flavor from reaching the meat and should not be used in a smoker. There are several reasons why meat may dry out in a smoker and just like riding a bike, it takes practice and a bit of scraping your knees to get it right. Depending on the type of meat you are trying to smoke will depend on the best method, but some techniques that have helped our BBQGuys team are brining, injecting, using a dry rub or marinating the meat, using an internal thermometer, and adding a water/liquid pan to the smoker. Low and slow is the key to smoking and a great rule of thumb is to keep temperatures around 225 degrees throughout the process. When Will My Item Arrive?

Once shipped, items usually arrive within 3–5 business days. If your item or order is large, it may ship via one of our third-party freight carriers, which deliver from semi trucks with lift gates. Freight delivery is much more complicated than standard parcel shipping — you must schedule a drop-off time, be present for the delivery, and move items from the curb to your residence, among other differences. We strongly encourage reading the entire freight delivery guide, but here’s a quick snapshot of what you need to be ready for when you order a large package:

  • Your freight carrier will call you to schedule a delivery window of about 4–8 hours
  • You’re required to be physically present at the specified delivery location during the scheduled window
