Excellant!

I have had the smoker since July, 2022. I use the unit about 4 times a month. I have cooked Prime Rib roast, beef back ribs, beef plate ribs, BB pork ribs, pork spare ribs, briskette, chicken,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, lot's of stuff. All turned out great. The unit performs flawlessly - comes to temperature and stays there. The unit uses very little wood and does give a nice smoke flavor. This unit is more than big enough for my household of 2 with occasional visitors. I can easily cook enough for a group of friends. One downside is the cost. On the other hand, my prior unit was a different brand that was a quarter of the cost yet it lasted only 4 years. This unit? I think it's realistic to say it will out last me. Very well constructed. I have gotten over the price by now as it is so reliable, I never concern myself with how the food will be at the end of the smoke - I know it will be perfection!

Awesome Electric Smoker

The unit was shipped fast and arrived via FedEx in 2 days in great condition. The smoker was easy to assemble and then season the unit. My first smoke came out excellent and was some of the best smoked meat I've ever eaten. The unit once up to temp maintained the temperature very good and definitely put out a lot of smoke for only 2 small chunks of hickory . I cooked 2 thick pork chops bone in ,a pound of jalapeno sausage and 3 brats for 21/2 hours and they all came out perfect. This smoker is so easy to use and smokes the tastiest meats I've ever cooked. I highly recommend this smoker. Maintains temperature, produces plenty of smoke and is to use. Holds plenty of meat for a small party at least a dozen people.

Fantastic!

The unit is very well constructed and simple to use. The oven temperature rarely fluctuates more than a few degrees. It's like an outdoor CrockPot. Perfect for an active lifestyle.

Wish I knew more before purchase

I was so excited about this because I have a friend that loves his and has had it for 10 years. I took his advise and bought it, but have had several issues with it that for me give me serious regrets about purchase. I don't like writing negative reviews because I'm sure this is a great company trying to keep things going, but for me I don't even want to use it and I've only had three months and used 3 times. I live in Texas so it gets warm, but it I didn't use this for the first time until mid September and halfway through a 12 hour brisket smoke it shut off. None of the buttons would turn it back on. I finally had to unplug it to reset it. I called Customer Support for Cookshack and they told me the controller will over heat if its in direct sunlight too long. Well, I have no where to put it that it won't be getting direct sunlight for part of the day and for sure during use on long smokes. The second thing that really bothers me about this exact model is its a little too narrow for a big brisket and a rack of ribs rubs on both sides of the oven so you really can't put them in parallel to the door. If you want to season them or sauce them during a cook you have to slide the whole shelf out (which btw drips a huge mess all over the ground in front of the smoker) requiring two hands and lots of hassle. The third (and major for me) issue is somehow liquid/moisture is escaping and doesn't make it to the drip pan, but instead makes its way to the wheels so it leaves big black stains where the wheels are. I have a stained concrete patio that new has black circles on it that have taken lots of work to try and remove. So in order for me to use this thing it has to be in the right amount of shade and I have to cover the surface its on to keep from staining of just not worry about the mess. Again, I know its a great company with highly rated products, but for someone like me trying to get into smoking on occasion this one is not for me! I regret this purchase!!!

Expert Review

The Skinny:

  • Stainless steel, double-walled construction for superior insulation
  • Smokes large amounts of food at once
  • Reaches temperatures as low as 140 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Proudly made in the USA

Things We Love:

The key to good smoked BBQ is maintaining temperatures throughout your cook. That’s why Cookshack smokers are built with durable stainless steel and superior insulation that keeps internal temperatures consistent while the exterior remains cool to the touch. Cookshack has produced quality, American-made smokers for more than 50 years, and its collection now includes four different models that come with five pounds of hickory wood and a “Smoking at Home” cookbook. It’s everything you need to start smoking right away!

Spacious Cooking Area:

No matter which Cookshack electric smoker you choose, you’ll be able to confidently cook for a crowd. The AmeriQue smoker, the biggest among them, is capable of holding up to 50 pounds of food across its four included racks and 1,008 square inches of cooking area. The Cookshack SuperSmoker has one fewer rack but boasts a 756-square inch cooking surface and can accommodate 35 pounds of food. If you don’t need that much cooking space, try the Smokette Elite or Smokette Original, which are still big enough to fit up to 25 pounds of food.

Convenient Controls:

Smoking can be a precise process, so Cookshack equipped most of its smokers with tools to make it easy. The Amerique, SuperSmoker and Smokette Elite each have a digital controller and meat probe so you can monitor internal food temperature, create timers, and set heat levels. These three smokers have a temperature range between 140–300 degrees to give you cooking versatility. The Smokette Original, meanwhile, has an analog thermometer and can reach temperatures between 140–250 degrees, perfect for low-and-slow smoking.

Things to Consider:

If the latest technology is important to you, keep in mind that these units are not compatible with Wi-Fi like some of the pricier smokers on the market today. For more help deciding if a Cookshack smoker is right for you, call one of our BBQ experts at 1-877-743-2269 today!

are the caster required to be on the smoker smo25Was This Helpful?

Hi, Nick. The casters won't affect how the smoker performs, but you won't be able to move it easily without them. If you want to keep the smoker in one place, the casters can be locked.

Question:
It's this an indoor or outdoor unit? We live in Minnesota - how well does it smoke and keep temps outside at 0 degrees? Was This Helpful?
Answers:

Great question! This is definitely an outdoor unit. As with any grill, maintaining the heat may require a little more upkeep in cold weather than normal, but it's well insulated so it should hold up to the test!

Question:
Our four year old Smokette Elite smoker (SM025) repeatedly trips the GFI within 5 minutes. We even tried a different outlet and the same thing occurred. We had an electrician check out our house and he said the problem is with the smoker. Can you recommend an electrician in the San Francisco or East Bay Area that can fix this? We live in the Livermore/Pleasanton area but all drive anywhere to get this repaired. Was This Helpful?
Answers:

Please give our customer service experts a cal at 1-877-743-2269 and they will be happy to possibly help resolve your problem or see if they have any contacts in the area.

When will my item arrive?

Once shipped, items usually arrive within 3-5 business days. While UPS and FedEx are our carriers for smaller items, be aware that larger items and orders are shipped via freight. The freight process is a bit more complicated than what we've all come to expect for small parcels, so it's important that you're prepared and understand what's required of you well before delivery day.

  • Most freight products ship on a pallet
  • Some carriers will call to schedule a delivery window, while others will deliver the shipment to a reasonably accessible location closest to your residence (their goal is to deliver as near a garage door as they can).
  • We'll specify which process you can expect in your shipping confirmation email.

For carriers that schedule delivery appointments:

Carriers that schedule delivery appointments require you to be home for delivery and provide your signature. The delivery is made with a semi-truck with lift gate services, and the shipment is dropped off at the curb. If you authorize the shipping company to leave the delivery without a signature, BBQGuys can't be held responsible for damages that occur during delivery. As complicated as this process may seem, we've only scratched the surface here — please review our detailed guide to freight delivery so there are no surprises when a freight shipment heads your way.

For carriers that deliver without an appointment:

Carriers that deliver without an appointment don't require you to be home or set up a delivery window, and you aren't required to sign for the pallet(s). Instead of scheduling an appointment, arranging your schedule to be home for the delivery, and signing to confirm receipt, you can sit back and let your items come to you. If you're home at the time of the drop-off, you can request the driver place your delivery in the garage; if you're out of the house, the driver will leave it near the garage or doorstep.
