Had an earlier version that lasted 20+ years. Since this has a thicker casting than the original, I expect it will outlast me and that my kid will inherit it. Some might consider it a bit pricey, but quality always is worth a bit more.

Compact grill that can be used all year round. Has a fitted cover for separate purchase and keeping outside all seasons. Is light weight and easy to assemble.

I like many remember grandpa with something similar to grill burgers & steaks. Had no idea with the damper's how well it would smoke. Thumbs up.

If you like to grill with charcoal, the Portable Kitchen is just about as perfect a grill as you will find. I cook on the grill 2 or 3 times per week - even during the winter months - and I have owned and worn-out many grills over the years. This grill is made of heavy cast Aluminum, so it won't rust out or deteriorate (like so many grills I have had before). The size is just right for my grilling needs (family of 4) with plenty of room for my Pampered Chef vegy basket while grilling up steaks or a big piece of fish. I would have payed more for this grill to get a stainless steel lower grill (for the charcoal bed) and for the cart/frame to be just a little more sturdy or made of heavier gauge tubing. But overall I am very happy with this grill and DO NOT have buyer's remorse. It [...] was very easy to assemble. That guy on the BBQU TV show should be using one of these Portable Kitchens!

My husband has had an older version of this grill since college--it originally belonged to his roommate's Dad. We still use it but this new version, well, it really is wonderful. We thought we could not get a new version and jumped at the chance when we found this one. HIGHLY recommend to anyone for any purpose. Best Christmas present ever.....

Steaks, chicken and ribs all cook, look and taste the way my grandfather cooked them back in the 60's and 70's, when I was a kid, on his covered aluminum grill. The size is great so I don't have to fire up my big smoker/grill and use a bunch of fuel to get the flavor and slow cooktime I want for family size meals. As a gage, the size is good for at least 5 or 6 large chicken quarters. I am betting I could get 4 or 5 Boston butts on there at a time ... I also am able to reuse charcoal by closing the vents after cooking. You do have to give yourself a bit more time to clear ashes and light the charcoal compared to gas but an electric lighter works great. It's a different grilling experience and the flavor is worth any extra effort.

If one wants a small grill for a family that does an excellent job and is well built, this is a good pick. I haven't used it as a smoker yet, but I think it will also do a good job at that. There are two vents on top and two on the bottom to give good air flow when needed.

I really like this grill. I'm very happy with the way it controls the heat and cooks the food. I like the hinged grill, the stand is sturdy(could be a bit taller), just about everything. Now that I've used it a while, here's a list of improvements I'd recommend: 1) I added a thermometer to the lid about 1.5" off the grill in the middle. Essential for slow cooking, and I'm a bit disappointed it didn't come with it. 2) You have to get down on your hands and knees to see the lower vents while you're adjusting them. Kind of awkward and embarassing when you're trying to tell your friends what a cool grill you have. I'm going to have to devise a better way. Maybe a mirror. 3) For the money, the grill and lower grate should be stainless. Then it would truly last forever. I had Grandparents over for chicken, and they told me they had the same grill back in the 60's. They loved it and had it until it blew away (more likely they got looted) in one of the hurricanes in the 90's. They're from Texas.

After looking for a while I settled on this grill and I'm glad I did. I've used it half a dozen times in the two weeks or so since it arrived so I'm still getting used to working with it, but each time it's used the more comfortable I am with it. I've found that lump charcoal works best for grilling as it burns hotter and more evenly if not quite as long. I hope to tackle the process of smoking sometime soon, probably with real wood. We'll see. Now, about the fit and finish. I do mostly like the f&f on the grill itself but the lower vents are problematic as they get very hot (of course!) but more importantly they get bound up with stray charcoal pieces or other debris. Not sure what the answer is to this but maybe it'll get easier as time goes on. For the record, I gave it four stars rather five because of the vent problem mentioned above and because the cart is not quite as sturdy as I'd like to see but, to be fair, what similar product isn't constructed a little lightly these days? The top shelf is too flimsy (I'll be reinforcing it with something) and the lower shelf is not good for much more than to keep ash from falling on the ground/deck/whatever. These are small issues, though, and not unexpected or disappointing as it's more the norm these days. I would still recommend this grill and look forward to much more very satisfactory use.

When will my item arrive?
Once shipped, items usually arrive within 3-5 business days. While UPS and FedEx are our carriers for smaller items, be aware that larger items and orders are shipped via freight. The freight process is a bit more complicated than what we've all come to expect for small parcels, so it's important that you're prepared and understand what's required of you well before delivery day.
- Most freight products ship on a pallet
- Some carriers will call to schedule a delivery window, while others will deliver the shipment to a reasonably accessible location closest to your residence (their goal is to deliver as near a garage door as they can).
- We'll specify which process you can expect in your shipping confirmation email.
For carriers that schedule delivery appointments:
Carriers that schedule delivery appointments require you to be home for delivery and provide your signature. The delivery is made with a semi-truck with lift gate services, and the shipment is dropped off at the curb. If you authorize the shipping company to leave the delivery without a signature, BBQGuys can't be held responsible for damages that occur during delivery. As complicated as this process may seem, we've only scratched the surface here — please review our detailed guide to freight delivery so there are no surprises when a freight shipment heads your way.
For carriers that deliver without an appointment:
Carriers that deliver without an appointment don't require you to be home or set up a delivery window, and you aren't required to sign for the pallet(s). Instead of scheduling an appointment, arranging your schedule to be home for the delivery, and signing to confirm receipt, you can sit back and let your items come to you. If you're home at the time of the drop-off, you can request the driver place your delivery in the garage; if you're out of the house, the driver will leave it near the garage or doorstep.
