Was very excited to use this smoker but since the first day it has been a pain. First off it came damaged. Big dents in the back which I hammered back as best as possible. Second. The unit claims 2 hours of smoke on a full chip pan. I've tried multiple heat and vent settings. Along with soaking and not soaking the chips but I've never gotten a complete burn. Chips burn for 20-30 min and then turn to charcoal and won't smoke. Had the element replaced already because they thought that was the issue. Still same problem. I mean the smoker works, but you have to be on top of it and you will waste a lot of chips. Doing any sort of longer cook would be a major pain. Customer service was def trying to help but honestly I think the element just had a design issue. It starts underneath the pan and then flares out to the sides. Where the element is under the pan, the chips burn. But everywhere else they turn to charcoal.
I've had this unit for a few years and I love it, so why the low stars. The Good: easy to use, easy to assemble, cooks great. Brisket, ham, ribs, chicken, and this is Texas BBQ so high standards. The Bad: I've replaced every electrical component and screen multiple times. Today it ruined a brisket and is now on the curb. This is a common problem. Fix it and I'll buy a new one, until then looks like I'm going back to traditional wood.
Less then a year old and the temperature will not go over 180 degrees
I got this for a Christmas present and just breaking it. I have the temp set to 350 and it will run for hours and never get above 300 even with no food in it. I added the meat probe just to see if it was a sensor issue but was reading 280 while the digital was reading 255. So far I am not impressed with this unit. It is not tripping any circuit breakers so power should not be an issue. It just will not reach a higher temp than about 280F no matter what I do. Outside temp was 63 at the time./ Smoker had been running 1.5 hours and failed to reached the 320 target with no food in and the vents closed as much as possible.
Bought this smoker on Feb 15 and was delivered Feb 20. Assembly took about 1.5 hours. Decent construction. Base seems stable, controller is easy to operate. It's cold outside so I was worried about temperature. The initial seasoning temp registered 300F when outside air temp was 21F. The smoker produced plenty of smoke and the cooking temperature was very stable - plus/minus a few degrees - except when I opened the door. I had to fill the water pan every hour. This smoker is capable of producing a decent bark with a moist interior. On the negative side, my reason for removing 1 star is there is about a 3/16" gap in the door seal on the hinge side, I would like all the smoker to exit out the adjustable vents on the back. The water pan gets very dirty on both the top and bottom - I recommend the water pan liner. Everything considered I am happy with the smoker for the $$$ and I would recommend it. Already planning the next smoke.

I got this smoker as a Christmas gift. Unfortunately the door came dented. I called the customer service team at Pittboss and the covered it and I have a new door on the way! This is my first smoker and it's super easy to use. Took it out of the box, did the first time burn off, and started cooking. Great product!

A great idea with a terrible execution. It worked great first time. After that, I've had to disassemble and repair something on every single session start. had to fix auto feeder jam because factory screws were loose. Auto igniter failed after few hours in the process. Could not find anything wrong after as it was working when tested. Next session few hours in same fault occurs. Still a problem to be fixed. Blower fan quit running after about 6 months mid smoke. But those are just my experiences, with my smoker in particular. Over all here are some things to be improved: Having all the electronics on the bottom with out a simple way to remove them is, idiotic at best. Things do fail, and cannot be addressed without tipping entire unit. Wire length and management makes repairs into hand yoga exercise. More modular design, with easy disassembly from a side would be preferred. Pellet box has no cut off gate. If you have to take feeder out, you'll be taking out all the fuel. Legs are made of a very thin metal making it pretty flimsy, and since repairs requiring tipping to a side so common, its just a matter of time before those will give out. At the time of this review I've had this unit for a bit over 9 months, and, I regret paying for it.

Temp will not heat over 260 degrees. We move it around to different outlets, made sure the weather couldnt affect it, and that the door was sealed. Still cannot get it to heat like it should. Pretty disappointed in this as I got it for my husband as a gift for Christmas and it is not working as it should.

Just bought one the other day tried using it last night and it took 2 hours to reach 250 and after 9 hours of trying to smoke a whole chicken it still wasn't done needless to say it was a major disappointment

For the price, the smoker is decent. But do not think you'll get this smoker over about 270 degrees.. marketing team was quite liberal with stating it can reach 350.. it's on the packaging, on the website.. etc. Not fair to the consumer.

If you're home at the time of the drop-off, you can request the driver place your delivery in the garage; if you're out of the house, the driver will leave it near the garage or doorstep.
