My biggest complaint is that there is nothing to hold the racks in when you pull them out. My old smoker captured the racks on the top and bottom, so you could pull them almost all the way out without them toppling to the ground along with your food. Pull these a little way out with some food on them and you better be prepared to catch that food, otherwise you're going to have to wash it off or chuck it. Every smoker I've had up to this one has had the racks captured. Pit Boss really dropped the ball on this one. The next complaint is the water tray. Why is it so small? Holds a gallon but with the suface area that gallon goes pretty quick at higher temps. It's also kind of a PITA to add to it while you're cooking. Otherwise I really like it. Need to get a new controller for it since my dog ripped the temperature probe out it and it's been janky ever since.
Live everything about this smoker except the BT and WiFi connections are terrible. My phone has full bar connection to WiFi but the smoker won't stay connected for some reason. Part of the reason I bought this was for the app connection and not to walk out there all the time to check the smoker. Why is the connection having so many issues staying connected? Is this a common issue with this smoker? Of WiFi and BT would stay connected, this would be a 5 star review, hands down!

Wow, where to begin. I'm 62 and NEVER wrote a review in my life. Wife got this for me Christmas 2023. I've got maybe 6 cooks on this since buying. 2 fans blown and replaced. Igniter replaced. Auger replaced twice Temp probe just replaced. Unit caught on fire and melted glass to view pellets and the burn pot melted. Today after replacing the temp probe the unit now displays in order…auger malfunction, fan malfunction and….my just replaced temp probe After speaking with the pit boss rep today he could only pass this up the chain saying I should get an email next week!! Put boss can verify every issue as I have every email on parts sent. One rep I spoke to said a new unit should be sent. In any case I have not been able to use this once this year. In all fairness I have a smaller pit boss grill with zero issues and honestly when the smoker worked it had excellent results.

The smokers never reaches temps no matter what the temp ot is outside it was 80° to day and would still only go to 210° you can tell it has no insulation the thing gets so hot you can't touch the outside and the heating element stays on the whole time bought because it says it goes to 350° so I could smoke pizza bet it never gets close to that hot would definitely not recommend
I've used several smokers over the years, and although I've got great results with standard pellet grills and you'll definitely get a superior cook with an offset if you do it right, I've been a huge fan of my friends vertical smokers and after upgrading my other grill decided to get one for myself. My favorite points and the reason I prefer the vertical: 1) Large Hopper - Huge benefit compared to most pellet grills, you can cook a ridiculously long time and never need to worry about refilling the pellets 2) The Space - not only can I fit more food with a more consistent result than typical smokers, but I have hung sausages, and also removed the racks to put in a vertical spit on the bottom to cook Al Pastor and Shawarma. 3) Removable racks - With many foods I take my racks out with gloves and set them directly on a large cutting board to rest, also super easy to clean 4) Smoke distribution - the air gap in the sides where the smoke comes at at multiple points & levels throughout does way better than I ever expected, and it also adds insulation; this is the best home-level pellet grill I've had at cooking in colder temperatures. As you'll note in my pictures, I've always got great bark and this has done just as well as any other pellet grill for results, all without using a smoke tube. I love the better portability and form factor in my backyard, and I've never had any issues with it over 2 years, but I also have it covered and keep it clean, periodically clear out the auger. It is built from cheaper materials, and can't directly sear things but for what I use it for I don't think I can ever go back and for the cost this has been a game-changer for me. For anyone with similar preferences and priorities this will be a great purchase you won't regret.

I'm new to smoking and I did a lot of research on smokers before I decided to buy. I really think that the wood chip electric smokers are the best mix of features, ease of use, and produce amazing results. I'm a complete beginner and I'm smoking fantastic meals with ease that impress my friends and family. Super happy with this purchase.
Heating element will not come back on after it shuts off reaches a serpent temperature and shuts off every time never coming back on unless I press it to come back on. I'm assuming this is a control module issue or control board issue. Have wrote an email no one has returned my emails.
Bought a Vert Smoker Elite 6 Series. It appears to have a bad Controller. Went to send an Email to the support team, but no such option. Now I can call and sit on hold wasting my time to see if Pit boss will send me a new controller. Sure would be nice to be able to send an email to support like must other companies have.

Tried my new Pit Boss for the first time today. Burned it in and primed exactly as shown in the manual. Had no problem heating up to over 400 degrees for the burn in. BUT - after going thru a start cycle with the door open, generating smoke, closing the door and waiting 10 minutes to set the temp to 240, I put a brisket and rack of ribs inside and closed the door. Kept the water pan full but after 2.5 hours it started to drop temp down to 90 degrees. No errors on the display, the auger was running but the igniter light wouldn't come on. I'm using fresh Pit Boss Competition Blend pellets. Apparently the auger feed loses consistency after a couple of hours and the ignitor times out. I guess tomorrow I'll try to spend a couple of hours getting thru to Customer Service and see what happens. Shut everything down, pulled the firebox and emptied a small amount of ash, reinserted and started a new startup cycle. Got temp back up to 240 where it stayed for.....another 2.5 hours before dropping back down to 90 again.

I really liked my smoker and used it quite a lot. The door glass cracked as it was heating up one night. At only 6 months old. It is taking a very long time (2 months) to get a front door for my vertical smoker. I am very upset at this point.

When will my item arrive?
Once shipped, items usually arrive within 3-5 business days. While UPS and FedEx are our carriers for smaller items, be aware that larger items and orders are shipped via freight. The freight process is a bit more complicated than what we've all come to expect for small parcels, so it's important that you're prepared and understand what's required of you well before delivery day.
- Most freight products ship on a pallet
- Some carriers will call to schedule a delivery window, while others will deliver the shipment to a reasonably accessible location closest to your residence (their goal is to deliver as near a garage door as they can).
- We'll specify which process you can expect in your shipping confirmation email.
For carriers that schedule delivery appointments:
Carriers that schedule delivery appointments require you to be home for delivery and provide your signature. The delivery is made with a semi-truck with lift gate services, and the shipment is dropped off at the curb. If you authorize the shipping company to leave the delivery without a signature, BBQGuys can't be held responsible for damages that occur during delivery. As complicated as this process may seem, we've only scratched the surface here — please review our detailed guide to freight delivery so there are no surprises when a freight shipment heads your way.
For carriers that deliver without an appointment:
Carriers that deliver without an appointment don't require you to be home or set up a delivery window, and you aren't required to sign for the pallet(s). Instead of scheduling an appointment, arranging your schedule to be home for the delivery, and signing to confirm receipt, you can sit back and let your items come to you. If you're home at the time of the drop-off, you can request the driver place your delivery in the garage; if you're out of the house, the driver will leave it near the garage or doorstep.
