Weber Performer 22-Inch Freestanding Charcoal Grill- Black

Received this Weber for my birthday from my wife. I've owned a Weber charcoal grill since 1970 and have never used any other brand or gas grill. I grilled two sirloin steaks for my first inauguration and was amazed that just closing the lid would result in a great medium well steak.

Large cooking surface, perfect air control, easy to move around. And when you shut off the vents it puts the fire out which saves charcoal - the cheap grills won't do that.

I needed to replace an old weber grill. I had decided to acquire a model that had the lid holder and a shelf. I wanted something with a small footprint I could store in the garage when not using. I found the performer model with the folding shelf to be exactly what I was looking for. Cooks great and now I can put the cover on it and store it in the garage when I am not using it. I have owned weber products for years. I have always found weber customer service to be great and another reason to stick with weber's great products!

I bought my Weber performer a month ago. 1.The wire grill design is cheap and dumb. I discarded it and replaced with an after market coated cast iron grill. 2. The bail system that holds the lid will eventually scratch the paint and will rust and ware. 3. It didn't come with a cover like my Smoky Mountain Smoker did. For the price point, it should be included. 4. It doesn't seal. 5.The ash collection needs a grip installed on the handle. I plan to build one to retrofit.

I am a legendary griller, according to my family anyway. But the legend continuation I'm referring to is the grill! I've had a Deluxe Kettle for the last 27 years. I've replaced most of the parts on it at least twice, and while it was great, age and rust got me looking for a new one. My new Performer is even better! Smokes or grills perfectly using the charcoal rails and "indirect flame"--you'll never burn another piece of meat if you use the rails!! The four-wheel cart with two locking wheels is much better than the tri-pod. The insulated handle on the top vent is a nice improvement. The new thermometer mounting is better, maybe more accurate. The heat shield below the center handle is a good improvement. I love the folding metal table too. The new ash-catcher detaches/attaches better, but the grip strength needed to move it is probably excessive for many. I'll probably buy a few more accessories for it and did buy a cover, so this one should last until I go to that big charcoal bag in the sky! (wish basic Performer came in colors like other models)

Nothing tastes as good as charcoal grilled food and this Weber doesn't disappoint! I love the easy ash dispenser and the folding table, its sits beautifully between my Weber Genesis II and my Weber Smokey Mountain!

It's great for smoking (with some practice and technique) , rotisserie cooking and, oh yeah, grilling! It was my first choice when I was buying a grill and I haven't wanted another brand. I like my Weber so much that I may get a small gas grill just for my patio.

A lifelong gas grill user, currently with the genesis, I ventured into charcoal as a splurge, I'm very happy with this set up, nice features but no over the top, set up was fun, need to learn nuances of charcoal types. Great smoking with chips.

Needed an upgrade on my weber grills so I purchased one of these. Outstanding performance and quality. Fit perfectly on my patio. We grill out about three to four times a week. We love everything about it.

Happy w the product but just wish it were bigger. My previous grills were oblong and gave me space to have 2-3 variations of hot/not so hot. Weber is a great product and with many great features -like coal-ash catcher, extended table, top holder, easy to empty ash tray. I would buy again. Just need to adjust to different space configuration.
