I use the griddle attachment almost every day, bacon, eggs, pancakes, does em all right with little mess. Definitely a good smoker too. Zero complaints, this is definitely the better of the two options I was looking at, for my needs. 10/10 #sweepstakes
The 600XL Pellet Grill replaces our beloved Weber Genesis and adds a smoker. We are able to grill and smoke food with total temperature control. As a Chemical Engineer with extensive process automation experience, I am impressed by the temperature control loop. As an example, the system will follow the set point of the temperature from 200 to 300 degrees Fahrenheit in minutes without overshoot the setpoint. 100% satisfied and extremely happy with the unit even though it lacked wheels on the handle side. I added two "Workbench Stepdown Casters" to the non-wheeled side legs to make easy to move around.
I have had many pits, stop wasting money spend it once and you won't have to worry. After many reviews, I chose the Searwood XL. Why? Well I started with an old kettle while in the military that thing lasted a long time. Then moved to gas, then an egg then a pellet now on this one. What I like about Weber that the others didn't have is that they have parts no matter how old and great customer service. Can't go wrong with a Weber!!!
Been a weber user for 10 years. Felt it was time to upgrade and considering it was my birthday so why not, my family wanted to gift me something special. To manage room better under our covered patio I decided to get rid of my smoker and weber gas grill. The Searwood XL being advertised as a smoker that can also be used as a grill that reaches 600 degrees! I was excited and with my past experience with weber products I figured id pay the extra money for the brand, for the quality, the support, etc. Boy was I wrong!!!!! So I got my grill along with other extras that I ordered. Performed the initial update through my phone and start up procedure as instructed. This was met with multiple error codes. I thought, maybe its just new, had to take time for the pellets to feed through and this was reason for error. Eventually was able to perform the start up procedure to 450 degrees. That evening decided to grill some steaks. Set the controller to 600 degrees. After 40 minutes, can't get it above 450 degrees. Was met with multiple e18 error codes. Lid being closed throughout all my cooks. Anyways, steaks ruined! This was on a brand new bag of bear mount pellets from the store. I thought, maybe I got a bad bag. The next day, I went and bout a different brand of pellets, could not get the grill above 500 after multiple attempts. Anyways to keep it short. Ive followed every troubleshooting guide. Cleaned multiple times. I have tried multiple brands of pellets at this point. The only ones I've been able to get remotely close to 600 degrees was with a brand that offers hardwood charcoal pellets or lumberj pellets. Even then I cant get it to hit 600 consistently. Sometimes id be in the middle of a cook, say around 500, only for it to drop to 200 degees out of the blue and not fire up again. I have contacted support days after receiving the grill. Support said someone would contact me within 24hrs. NOTHING, SILENCE! DAYS WENT BY. I decided to call and went through the generic troubleshooting guide which I've already done numerous times. Lady said someone would call me from the pellets grill division within 3 days. I asked her nicely if someone can call me that day. The grill was brand new and has not worked as advertised. She said ok, I will have someone reach out that day. Guess what! NOTHING! nobody called me. So its been a little over a month. Grill cant reach 600 degrees as advertised no matter what brand pellets I use, absolutely no support from weber. Also, telling someone to wait 3 days to get support on a brand new grill is absolutely disappointing. I expected so much more from you weber. You should be ashamed at this level of support. It almost leads me to believe that weber must have so much issues with this grill that the support center must be overwhelmed with calls. So if you want to spend 1300+ on something to not operate as designed and be left in the wind, this is the product for you. This review is my last attempt at having the pellet grill support to actually call me before I file a complaint with the BBB. Hope this works!

We sincerely apologize for the frustration and disappointment caused by the temperature issue you are experiencing. This is not the normal experience based on our extensive product testing, and we understand your disappointment. Please look for an outreach from a member of our Specialist team very soon. Thank you!
The Searwood XL 600 works exactly as I had hoped. I'm able to cook at the exact temperature necessary to ensure perfect steaks, chicken, burgers, and whatever else I'm grilling.
First smoker , SearwoodXL 600 loaded pellets and cook two delicious ribeye steaks Follow the directions from the manual , and even used the probes . I live in Las Vegas and it's hot but using the app I'm able to control my cook . Best smoker ,I used pure hickory pellets . Going to do pork chops on the 4th of July Pete
This is the grill that does it all. Low and slow smoking-- check. "Regular" grilling-- check. High heat searing --check. Griddle cooking (with insert sold separately) -- check. Yes, its pricey. But given that I have three high-end cooking methods all in one sold me on the product. And its a Weber, so warranty and QC are excellent.
Great size, easy to use and clean. Looks easy to replace parts when necessary. It definitely needs casters on the end without wheels - ridiculous they aren't included. Works great after adding them myself.
First off, the back of the grill was warped. Had to submit a warranty claim. Weber was good about it and sent me a replacement cookbox. After using the grill a few times, I noticed it doing some weird things. The displayed temperature didn't seem right. I started doing some testing on the grill ( I'm an HVAC technician) with my own temperature meter. I found out that the temperature control of this grill is very poor. The displayed temperature is pretty much worthless. Here are the issues: - Temperature control is not tight, I've observed a 50 deg swing when the displayed temp is steady. - After it settles out, the average temperature it maintains is 15 deg below the setpoint. - When the grill is heating up, as it approaches the setpoint, the displayed temp will rise quickly and then indicate that the grill is ready. The actual temperature is still well below the setpoint. - One of the reasons I bought the grill was its advertised temperature of 600 deg. The highest actual temperature my grill has gotten to is 528 deg. Mechanically it is a good grill, but the software programming is bad. I work with PID controllers in my line of work and if I programmed a PID controller to act this way, I would be fired.
I have owned this grill now for almost a month now, and Weber has sent me 3 parts so far and another two are on backorder till the 1st week of July 26' My grill is still not working as of today... So far I have had to replace the ECU, Auger, Motor and now they are saying I need a new Control Board and Fuel Sensor. Since Black**** bought them they are no longer the Weber we all once knew. The offered to send me one comp item which is hilarious. I'm asking what about all of the work and pellet loss on a grill that should work right out of the box. I have already submitted a dispute on my grill as being a DOA and awaiting any next steps on turning a nightmare into something positive and move on.

Questions & Answers
HI Cookin. As with all pellet grills, the smoke flavor may not be as pronounced. The Weber Searwood does have a smoke boost which will enhance that flavor. A lot will also depend on the species of pellets used, as well.
Asked by Cookin in the holler | Answered by WesleyHi Ken. Assembly will take approximately 90 minutes.
Asked by Ken | Answered by WesleyHi Fernsler. The lowest temperature setting on the Weber Searwood is 180 F. which may be too high for smoking cheese.
Asked by Fernsler Racing | Answered by WesleyHi Zell. The Weber Searwood is double walled. During cold weather, it may take a longer to come up to temperature, and my also use additional pellets .
Asked by Zell | Answered by WesleyHi Fred. Yes, you can smoke with the Weber Searwood without exposure to the flames.
Asked by Fred | Answered by WesleyHi Curt. The Weber Searwood vents from the middle of the back, below the hood. This allows smoke and heat to remain in the grill cavity longer.
Asked by Curt | Answered by WesleyMy Pitboss had a stack but this new Searwood does not. I believe it "vents" out the back of the lid. Asked by Curt | Answered by mikebarberHi Rrek. Like most pellet grills, pellet use runs between 1-3 pounds per hour depending on temperature set and environmental temperature.
Asked by Rrek | Answered by WesleyHi George. For bacon on the Searwood, we would suggest using a griddle. Weber makes a griddle insert for the Searwood grill.
Asked by George | Answered by WesleyHi Bill. The Weber Searwood actually has a flame tamer running the center of the width of the grill which will direct grease away from the flames to the grease collection.
Asked by Bill | Answered by WesleyHi Jeff. Yes, you would still use pellets.. Pellets are the fuel for the Weber Searwood XL.

When will my item arrive?
Once shipped, items usually arrive within 3-5 business days. While UPS and FedEx are our carriers for smaller items, be aware that larger items and orders are shipped via freight. The freight process is a bit more complicated than what we've all come to expect for small parcels, so it's important that you're prepared and understand what's required of you well before delivery day.
- Most freight products ship on a pallet
- Some carriers will call to schedule a delivery window, while others will deliver the shipment to a reasonably accessible location closest to your residence (their goal is to deliver as near a garage door as they can).
- We'll specify which process you can expect in your shipping confirmation email.
For carriers that schedule delivery appointments:
Carriers that schedule delivery appointments require you to be home for delivery and provide your signature. The delivery is made with a semi-truck with lift gate services, and the shipment is dropped off at the curb. If you authorize the shipping company to leave the delivery without a signature, BBQGuys can't be held responsible for damages that occur during delivery. As complicated as this process may seem, we've only scratched the surface here — please review our detailed guide to freight delivery so there are no surprises when a freight shipment heads your way.
For carriers that deliver without an appointment:
Carriers that deliver without an appointment don't require you to be home or set up a delivery window, and you aren't required to sign for the pallet(s). Instead of scheduling an appointment, arranging your schedule to be home for the delivery, and signing to confirm receipt, you can sit back and let your items come to you. If you're home at the time of the drop-off, you can request the driver place your delivery in the garage; if you're out of the house, the driver will leave it near the garage or doorstep.
