Key Features

Camp Chef Woodwind Pro 36 WiFi Grill Gives You Total Control
  • New Smoke Box to cook with pellets, wood chunks or chips, or charcoal
  • Down & Out Ventilation for even heating
  • Compatible with Sidekick components for cooking versatility
  • Expanded chamber height

The Camp Chef Woodwind 36 Pro WiFi grill makes it easier to cook outdoors. Period. The combination of advanced features and smartphone monitoring and control gives you power to control the smoke and heat, and keeps you posted on the progress of your cooking. Not since Fred threw a dinosaur rib on an open fire has outdoor cooking been more appealing!

Smoke Box

If you want a little more smoke and more smoke flavor than you may get with pellets alone, the reinvented Smoke Box lets you cook with wood pellets, wood chunks or chips, and even charcoal. Use the damper to simultaneously control heat and flavor.

Down & Out Ventilation

The Woodwind Pro heat diffuser optimizes your smoking by pushing smoke and heat up the sides of the grill, then circulating and eventually exiting it through the rear exhaust. You will get even heat and smoke throughout the smoking chamber. With the Fan Only mode, you can cold smoke with the Woodwind Pro 36.

WiFi Controller + Camp Chef Connect

The Woodwind Pro WiFi line includes a full-color display with an easy-to-use menu dial, four ports for temperature probes, and a weather-resistant cover. The Camp Chef Connect app lets you monitor your cook from anywhere on your smartphone. You can set timers, check data from past cooks, assign labels to your probes, and set up push notifications. The included Smart Meat Assistant even lets you select meat types. It does not get much easier than this!

Smoke Number

The PID controller helps you regulate smoke and temperature. You can control how much smoke you provide to your cook by adjusting the Smoke Number. The detailed controller gives you the most precise grill temperature control in the industry. Increase the Smoke Number, and your smoke output increases. As the Smoke Number decreases, the temperatures will hold steady. Now you can ask your friends, what is YOUR smoke number?

Stainless Steel Components

Protecting your grill against rust and corrosion helps it last for many years. The Woodwind Pro 36 uses 430 stainless steel on the inside, and the butterfly valve, gasket, and burn cup use 304 stainless steel.

Sidekick Compatible

Expand your outdoor cooking capabilities by adding a Sidekick Flat Top griddle or a Sidekick Searing Station to your pellet grill. A Sidekick mounts easily to your existing side shelf holes. The Sidekick components are propane-powered.

Ash Cleanout

While hardwood pellets typically burn efficiently, they usually leave some ash behind. The Woodwind Pro 36 provides an Ash Cleanout to let you quickly and easily remove ash. Simply pull the Ash Cleanout knob on the side of the grill, and your ash empties into a cup that you can remove. Just dump the ash safely, replace the cup, and you are ready for your next cook!

Revised Review
Great Smoker

Great smoker with enough room for multiple brisket ribs and more. Temperature control is amazing (better than my oven, even with a high smoke setting)

(NO) no hassle warranty from CC

This review is 100% about CampChef customer service and nothing to do with the BBQ guys. Apparently, no hassle warranty means that CampChef won't be hassled with actually providing warranty service. The smoker itself is good if not great for a backyard smoker. Once it breaks (and it will), CampChef customer service will provide zero useful support. My controller has been out since mid June. When it failed, I immediately sent in a warranty claim with all the details plus photo evidence of the locked up control screen. CampChef response? Did you clean the probe? These issues are usually related to the probe being dirty or otherwise damaged (by you). Me...no, no, when the controller froze up I didn't think to go look at something completely irrelevant to my issue. After two weeks of back and forth and the CS reps pouting because they are so busy it takes a week for them to respond, they placed an order for the replacement controller along with a note saying it was backordered and I'd get an email when it ships. I waited a couple of weeks, requested a status update and they did not respond. Four weeks since the order was supposedly placed, I can't get them to respond to my request for an update on when the part will ship. I'm not even asking for them to compensate me for the 100s of dollars of meat I lost when the cook failed. The app didn't indicate there was a problem and I didn't realize the controller had frozen up until I went to check on everything midway through the cook and realized the fire was actually out and had been for some time. I tried to save it in the oven, but the flavor was ruined by bad smoke as the flame was dyiing.

Best smoker I've ever had

This is my 3rd pellet smoker and my favorite. The smoke box makes a huge difference. I get a drastically noticeable difference in smoke flavor using the smoke box.

Dead out of the box

Seems like it could be a great smoker. Put it together and went to do the initial burn in and it keeps tripping the GFCI and breakers. I've tried multiple outlets. Seems like it might be an issue with the heater rod. Best case scenario, I wait for them to send me a new heater rod and I have to start taking things apart and replace it. Now I have a whole brisket, 2 plate short ribs and a pork belly with no way to cook them.

I've had my grill /smoker for two weeks now. Assembly is pretty straight forward for most of the assembly. Mfg has made some changes and the instructions have not caught up. The faq's generally answer any questions. I've been doing BBQ for over twenty years as a non pro on all different types. This has performed as expected and advertised. Smoke box and military discount are awesome. I build aircraft for a living and can tell the engineering and planning staff are world class as well as the fab team. I've cooked burgers, hotdogs, ribs, pork loin, smoked deviled eggs, beef jerky, summer sausage etc. it performs as expected with stick burn flavor profiles.

I would look at different brands

I had done months of research looking for the perfect pellet smoker and had settled on the Woodwind Pro 36 for my choice. The smoke box, app features + the ability or run unattended were the driving forces for me. Assembly was easy, maybe took an hour or two and I followed instructions on all start up/pre smoke criteria. My first smoke was decent, I place the lack of results on my (learning my new smoker and what it liked/didn't like!). Excited for my second smoke (beef ribs from a cow we recently bought), I left for 30 minutes to come home to the pellet box on fire... I would like to think this is the outside the norm and a freak accident. I've now been dealing with support for 3 weeks, have provided countless photos and proof and still have no resolution. I would expect better. Actively trying to resolve/return. Smoking is supposed to be relaxing and fun, this has been anything but.

Assembly before use

Was easy to build however some screws were in other components and not in the labeled step bags which made it a little difficult until we found the screws. Excited to use the grill though

When will my item arrive?

Once shipped, items usually arrive within 3-5 business days. While UPS and FedEx are our carriers for smaller items, be aware that larger items and orders are shipped via freight. The freight process is a bit more complicated than what we've all come to expect for small parcels, so it's important that you're prepared and understand what's required of you well before delivery day.

  • Most freight products ship on a pallet
  • Some carriers will call to schedule a delivery window, while others will deliver the shipment to a reasonably accessible location closest to your residence (their goal is to deliver as near a garage door as they can).
  • We'll specify which process you can expect in your shipping confirmation email.

For carriers that schedule delivery appointments:

Carriers that schedule delivery appointments require you to be home for delivery and provide your signature. The delivery is made with a semi-truck with lift gate services, and the shipment is dropped off at the curb. If you authorize the shipping company to leave the delivery without a signature, BBQGuys can't be held responsible for damages that occur during delivery. As complicated as this process may seem, we've only scratched the surface here — please review our detailed guide to freight delivery so there are no surprises when a freight shipment heads your way.

For carriers that deliver without an appointment:

Carriers that deliver without an appointment don't require you to be home or set up a delivery window, and you aren't required to sign for the pallet(s). Instead of scheduling an appointment, arranging your schedule to be home for the delivery, and signing to confirm receipt, you can sit back and let your items come to you. If you're home at the time of the drop-off, you can request the driver place your delivery in the garage; if you're out of the house, the driver will leave it near the garage or doorstep.
