Great grill. Easy to use and the app makes cooking easy to monitor
Well I've used this one time to actually cook on. Ribs, pork butt, and chicken thighs. Brought all the meat in and when I did left the patio door open and the dogs ran out. Not thinking anything of them doing that….one of the dogs legs pulled the cord unplugged and the grill had not gone through its shut down. So, bc people were starting to arrive….I did not have time at point to try and reset it. A couple days later after the storms, I attempted three times to reset the grill. I watched Weber videos, you tube videos, read the troubleshooting instructions to no avail! I'm so aggravated that it is such a big ordeal to reset this. Just plain annoying really! Why would Weber make something so aggravating??? I get and respect the whole safety thing but c'mon now….the reset operation needs to be streamlined and a bit easier for the average Jo to tackle. I can't even use the thing ….its just a big shiny black box sitting on my deck. Again….So ANNOYING!
After studying comparative grill manufacturers and types of grill designs, discussing smokers with two experienced grillers/smokers, and querying Grok AI for an analysis, I decided on Weber's Searwood XL 600 for my grilling and smoker needs. These recent efforts only added to the trust I have for Weber grills developed over 48 years of BBQ on Weber grills. Assembly was straightforward accept one last screw on the bottom tray was not easy to bring it into alignment (and yes, I left all other screws loose to allow for play which is essential for pretty much struggle free assembly. Funny, this is the same screw that a YouTuber had a challenge with). The fit and finish of the Searwood are excellent. Hopper held a whole 20 pounds of pellets. Burn-off went well. Auger, igniter and fan worked great. Heat up time matched claims. I tried the smoke setting and smoke just came pouring out the vents. The electronics seem well designed and sealed up against the elements. The control panel interface is attractive and clear. Paying attention to the sequencing through the various modes just takes a few minutes to understand. The app interface and controls with wifi and bluetooth are really neat. You can walk away when you don't need to be right there watching the cook and either check how the cook is going or be notified when a setting has been achieved. My second cook is going to be tri-tip roast. My first was pizza (what my granddaughter wanted). I set the grill temp to 600 degrees. The pizza stone (my own) got up to 560 degrees based on a laser thermometer in 30 minutes. After 45 minutes I put our home made pizza on the stone and 6 minutes later the pizza was just perfect. I did a second pizza cook right away. The grill recovered temp in 2 minutes. Note, this was a summer day and the ambient temperature was about 85 degrees. Overall, I believe this Weber Searwood XL 600 provides the equipment and capacity for a cook to become a grill master. The only caveat is the want-to-be grill master up to it?
Very happy with the performance and features of this grill. My grill had a bad auger motor out of the box which weber promptly replaced and I believe at this price point the tables should come with it. Take care of those two items and it is a five star grill every day. Very versatile with allot of add on options like a griddle and rotisserie. Highly recommended. Support was good when I needed it for the auger motor.
Worksnas described. Can sear with this smoker and that's an upgrade form my Traegar
Overall I am very happy with the searwood. It is very easy to use and my first brisket on it turned out great. It was fairly easy to assemble, but one of the screw holes was stripped and I had to tap it myself. One of the biggest disappointments is that you have to purchase the side and front tables separately. They obviously should be included. The overall build seems a bit flimsy to me as well.
The grill blows a lot of ash back into the food. I've only cooked on the grill three times and cleaned it thoroughly after each cook. I like how it maintains the temperature.

Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding the Searwood XL 600 pellet grill. We are glad to hear you are happy with the grills temperature performance. A small amount of ash movement is normal with pellet grills, as the air circulates through the grill. This is especially noticeable when cooking at higher temperatures. Keeping the fire pot clean and using high quality pellets. If you need immediate assistance, please reach out to us direct. Thank you!
Awesome product, super easy to use and beginner friendly. Assembly was very simple and fast. First smoke went amazing- pork butt for 19 hours at 225 turned out perfect!
Love this grill. I use it a ton, you can smoke meats low and slow or bake bread. Whats not to love?
Very good quality build. Great temp control. Very good app to control and monitor. The app is much easier to use than the manual control panel. It makes a lot of ash, which the very strong fan(s) circulate up to the cooking area. The jury is still out on the ability to sear. It will take a long preheat to work. I think searing will be better with cast iron grates vs the stainless grates; but the stainless do clean up easily. Overall, it's a fantastic rig and I'm glad I bought it.
Questions & Answers
HI Cookin. As with all pellet grills, the smoke flavor may not be as pronounced. The Weber Searwood does have a smoke boost which will enhance that flavor. A lot will also depend on the species of pellets used, as well.
Asked by Cookin in the holler | Answered by WesleyHi Ken. Assembly will take approximately 90 minutes.
Asked by Ken | Answered by WesleyHi Fernsler. The lowest temperature setting on the Weber Searwood is 180 F. which may be too high for smoking cheese.
Asked by Fernsler Racing | Answered by WesleyHi Zell. The Weber Searwood is double walled. During cold weather, it may take a longer to come up to temperature, and my also use additional pellets .
Asked by Zell | Answered by WesleyHi Fred. Yes, you can smoke with the Weber Searwood without exposure to the flames.
Asked by Fred | Answered by WesleyHi Curt. The Weber Searwood vents from the middle of the back, below the hood. This allows smoke and heat to remain in the grill cavity longer.
Asked by Curt | Answered by WesleyMy Pitboss had a stack but this new Searwood does not. I believe it "vents" out the back of the lid. Asked by Curt | Answered by mikebarberHi Rrek. Like most pellet grills, pellet use runs between 1-3 pounds per hour depending on temperature set and environmental temperature.
Asked by Rrek | Answered by WesleyHi George. For bacon on the Searwood, we would suggest using a griddle. Weber makes a griddle insert for the Searwood grill.
Asked by George | Answered by WesleyHi Bill. The Weber Searwood actually has a flame tamer running the center of the width of the grill which will direct grease away from the flames to the grease collection.
Asked by Bill | Answered by WesleyHi Jeff. Yes, you would still use pellets.. Pellets are the fuel for the Weber Searwood XL.

When will my item arrive?
Once shipped, items usually arrive within 3-5 business days. While UPS and FedEx are our carriers for smaller items, be aware that larger items and orders are shipped via freight. The freight process is a bit more complicated than what we've all come to expect for small parcels, so it's important that you're prepared and understand what's required of you well before delivery day.
- Most freight products ship on a pallet
- Some carriers will call to schedule a delivery window, while others will deliver the shipment to a reasonably accessible location closest to your residence (their goal is to deliver as near a garage door as they can).
- We'll specify which process you can expect in your shipping confirmation email.
For carriers that schedule delivery appointments:
Carriers that schedule delivery appointments require you to be home for delivery and provide your signature. The delivery is made with a semi-truck with lift gate services, and the shipment is dropped off at the curb. If you authorize the shipping company to leave the delivery without a signature, BBQGuys can't be held responsible for damages that occur during delivery. As complicated as this process may seem, we've only scratched the surface here — please review our detailed guide to freight delivery so there are no surprises when a freight shipment heads your way.
For carriers that deliver without an appointment:
Carriers that deliver without an appointment don't require you to be home or set up a delivery window, and you aren't required to sign for the pallet(s). Instead of scheduling an appointment, arranging your schedule to be home for the delivery, and signing to confirm receipt, you can sit back and let your items come to you. If you're home at the time of the drop-off, you can request the driver place your delivery in the garage; if you're out of the house, the driver will leave it near the garage or doorstep.
