First off, I love the build quality, the look, and the ease of use. Use I've had Weber grills for decades, so that's who I entrusted with my first pellet grill. It does take quite a while, (up to 30 min), however to get to the advertised 600° for searing, and you don't really see flame like you see in some of the advertised pictures. I did a few short cooks and it performed flawlessly. When I finally decided to do a long smoke on a pork butt, and do it without wrapping, when I got to about hour 9 the searwood kept shutting down. Started throwing tons of error codes. I never could get it back cooking again, so I had to pull my meat off, wrap it, and put it in the oven inside to finish. Finish. I was very frustrated. The next day I pulled everything out to inspect and clean. Had tons of unburned wood pellet dust that I'm guessing started blocking everything up. And when I say tons, there were mounds of them everywhere. I'm concerned because I was excited about doing a brisket on this machine, which is an expensive cut of meat. I'm a little worried that once I do another long smoke it will shut down and I'll waste a lot of money on the brisket. I've done several Cooks since the one that gave me errors and it's been fine, but I've not done anything very long again. I plan to try it again soon. Overall, I really love this thing, it's just that one long smoke that has me concerned.
Plenty of room to fix to cook just about anything.
I wanted to love this smoker. i purchased all the accessories to go with it but cant use any.. It failed after after the burn in. . It won't heat past 450 and the combustion fan cover is melted. I have done software update 3 different types of weber pellets. I have never cooked anything on it so cant say how. it cooks. Fighting to get a refund or replacement.
The perfect everyday cooker that does almost everything well. With its ease of use, powerful convection cooking and stellar tempature control the cooking options are endless. I regularly do chicken thighs, wings, brats, burgers, cor, pizz and the like... all turn out great. However, I prefer the kettle for smoke flavor and direct heat cooking like searing steak and the like. That being said the Searwood is way easier to setup, use and recover for busy week night cooks, where even my wife likes using it.
After three weeks using the Searwood here is my conclusion. Looks Great, Smells great, but the food lacks a noticeable smoke flavor even when using "Smoke Boost". The grill is marketed as being a Smoker, with the ability to use it as a griddle and high temp grill. The griddle works okay at best, taking a very long time to get hot enough to use effectively. High temp grilling works pretty well, it maintains the heat well enough to do your standard weekend cookout proteins. Where it really disappoints is smoking. it does a good job cooking, notice i said cooking not smoking, as the cooks do turn out well, but seem to have almost no smokey or wood fire flavor to the cooks.
I set up my Pellet Grill this past weekend and seasoned the grill along with my griddle attachment. Made my first cook on Sunday using the Griddle. Made some Smash Burgers. I loved being able to cook 10 burgers at a time, and they came out more flavorful than usual due to the added smoke from the pellets. Yesterday I used my rotisserie attachment and did my second cook with two 5lb. Took about an hour and a half. My family loved them and said they were much better than store bought--again, the pellets added that additional smokey flavor. Tomorrow I am smoking some baby back ribs. This will be a trial before smoking pork butt this Father's day. So far I am loving it. My only slight criticism is that cooking on the griddle I noticed that there are "hot spots" so the heat isn't consistent on the entire griddle. Not sure if it's due to where I placed the griddle since the XL has so much space, the griddle doesn't cover the entire cook box.
After a ton of research, I figured out that the Searwood XL 600 would be the ideal jumping point into the pellet game for me. Have cooked pork loins, chicken breast, chuck roast and moving up to brisket this weekend.
This thing works great. Easy to use. Many options for cooking.
I have always been a loyal Weber supporter. I had the smokefire pellet grill and I was about to throw it out and buy a different brand. I had had several issues with it and finally called customer service. I explained my issues and was talked into trying the new model and I am glad I did. This has changed the way I grill completely. I have almost every grill Weber makes with the exception of a gas grill or a Kamato. I can cook anything on this and do it while doing other things around the house. They have fixed any issues with the first attempt of the pellet grill and I hope to get many years of use out of this grill. The biggest drawback of this grill is the hinge on the lid. It is simply 2 pins with cotter pins to hold the pins from falling out. I find that it is somewhat janky to open and close and you have to open from the center of the grill. If you try to open from the left or right corner it gets in a bind and will not open. Not a dealbreaker but I expect more from Weber.
I love the size, reliability and versatility of the Searwood XL. Being able to monitor, adjust and maintain the grill environment without having to open the lid is a game changer.

Questions & Answers
HI Cookin. As with all pellet grills, the smoke flavor may not be as pronounced. The Weber Searwood does have a smoke boost which will enhance that flavor. A lot will also depend on the species of pellets used, as well.
Asked by Cookin in the holler | Answered by WesleyHi Ken. Assembly will take approximately 90 minutes.
Asked by Ken | Answered by WesleyHi Fernsler. The lowest temperature setting on the Weber Searwood is 180 F. which may be too high for smoking cheese.
Asked by Fernsler Racing | Answered by WesleyHi Zell. The Weber Searwood is double walled. During cold weather, it may take a longer to come up to temperature, and my also use additional pellets .
Asked by Zell | Answered by WesleyHi Fred. Yes, you can smoke with the Weber Searwood without exposure to the flames.
Asked by Fred | Answered by WesleyHi Curt. The Weber Searwood vents from the middle of the back, below the hood. This allows smoke and heat to remain in the grill cavity longer.
Asked by Curt | Answered by WesleyMy Pitboss had a stack but this new Searwood does not. I believe it "vents" out the back of the lid. Asked by Curt | Answered by mikebarberHi Rrek. Like most pellet grills, pellet use runs between 1-3 pounds per hour depending on temperature set and environmental temperature.
Asked by Rrek | Answered by WesleyHi George. For bacon on the Searwood, we would suggest using a griddle. Weber makes a griddle insert for the Searwood grill.
Asked by George | Answered by WesleyHi Bill. The Weber Searwood actually has a flame tamer running the center of the width of the grill which will direct grease away from the flames to the grease collection.
Asked by Bill | Answered by WesleyHi Jeff. Yes, you would still use pellets.. Pellets are the fuel for the Weber Searwood XL.

When will my item arrive?
Once shipped, items usually arrive within 3-5 business days. While UPS and FedEx are our carriers for smaller items, be aware that larger items and orders are shipped via freight. The freight process is a bit more complicated than what we've all come to expect for small parcels, so it's important that you're prepared and understand what's required of you well before delivery day.
- Most freight products ship on a pallet
- Some carriers will call to schedule a delivery window, while others will deliver the shipment to a reasonably accessible location closest to your residence (their goal is to deliver as near a garage door as they can).
- We'll specify which process you can expect in your shipping confirmation email.
For carriers that schedule delivery appointments:
Carriers that schedule delivery appointments require you to be home for delivery and provide your signature. The delivery is made with a semi-truck with lift gate services, and the shipment is dropped off at the curb. If you authorize the shipping company to leave the delivery without a signature, BBQGuys can't be held responsible for damages that occur during delivery. As complicated as this process may seem, we've only scratched the surface here — please review our detailed guide to freight delivery so there are no surprises when a freight shipment heads your way.
For carriers that deliver without an appointment:
Carriers that deliver without an appointment don't require you to be home or set up a delivery window, and you aren't required to sign for the pallet(s). Instead of scheduling an appointment, arranging your schedule to be home for the delivery, and signing to confirm receipt, you can sit back and let your items come to you. If you're home at the time of the drop-off, you can request the driver place your delivery in the garage; if you're out of the house, the driver will leave it near the garage or doorstep.
