The 60-pound capacity pellet hopper features a side-window for at-a-glance fuel level checking, a hinged access door for quick fill-up and a clean-out door to empty pellets for cleaning or changing flavors. A removable water pan mounted near the base of the cabinet can be filled with your favorite marinades to add more flavor and keep foods fall-off-the-bone tender. A grease tray catches drippings at the bottom of the smoker and slides out for easy cleanup. 2 front swivel casters, 2 rear locking swivel casters and a handle allow for easy placement and portability.

Looks good

Worked great for the first year then display on controls started bubbling and can't read temp on probe or internally. Errors out if you dial up to 350 every time. Didn't mind paying the money but really expected more for the money. Other then that I've made some delicious meals with it.

7 Series Honest review

I bought this last year and have used it many times. It arrived packaged well no damage. I didn't like having to assemble so many parts. But that was a one time thing. From the start, the control.panel had fog in the display. The unit had never been left outside in the rain or snow. They promptly replaced the control panel. The last few times upon first starting the unit up it squealed on and off for a few minutes, then it went away. But it does it every start up. No performance issue but I know there is a motor probably the fan going up. I have not contacted them yet but based on prior track record I dont expect problems. I'll update my review later.

Pit Boss Series 7

This is the best smoker I've had yet. My 2nd smoker from Pit Boss, and I'm a huge fan. This thing is huge, maintains heat very well, and imparts a fantastic campfire flavor you just can't get from charcoal or gas. Warning, if you try this smoker, you'll never be satisfied with that kettle again.

DONT BELIEVE THE HYPE!!

I bought the series 7 this past weekend and was a bit worried about some of the reviews. They were laid to rest. If you follow the instructions step by step, you should never have a problem with this unit unless you're hired by another company to leave a crappy review. I absolutely love this machine. I'm currently talking to several other people that are looking at getting a series 7 and they're are impressed with the one I have.

Amazing - so far

Wife gave me a Pit Boss 77700 Copperhead 7 Series 29-inch Vertical Pellet Smoker w/ Window for Christmas. Took about an hour to assemble, did all of the pre-burn work and tested it out. Very simple to use. Put a 15# brisket on at 3:30 a.m the next morning. 15 hours later, the brisket was done to perfections Great smoker so far, will how it holds up as time goes on. Just remember to empty the pellet hopper after your done. I noticed when dumping the last of the bag, there was a significant amount of pellet dust. This will bridge up the feed auger if it builds up too much.

Working but damaged and awkward

I received my new smoker the day before Christmas Eve. I put it together that day with every intention to use it Christmas Eve and Day. My initial excitement started dwindling as I noticed one, then two, then more and more issues with damage. As a "new product" all the damage present is unacceptable. There are no less than 8 spots on my new Pit Boss that are either dented, don't line up, or just poorly fitted. The door doesn't line up for a tight seal. There is a very obvious gap when the door is closed and locked. I have to physically, and with force, push and hold the door up to get proper alignment. I've had the opportunity to use my new Pit Boss twice now, and although I realize switching from a barrel smoker with one rack to a vertical smoker with 6 racks can have a learning curb, all functions for operation seem to work as intended, so far. With that said, the position of the controls is awkward at best and not-thoughtout at worst. In both instances that I used the smoker, I was not able to keep drippings off the controls, even though I was already aware of this issue from other users reviews. In practice this issue could have been avoided with some sort of splash guard. My last issue is still concerning the control panel. For whatever reason it has a wobble that I can't get to stop. Overall, my brand new Pit Boss functions, for now, but based off the quality of the build I don't have very high expectations of it lasting for many more uses. On that note, before my very first use, my brand new Pit Boss looked like I've owned it for a long time based on its condition.

Deformed and cracked seal.

Works great when it works!

I've had the 7 series for almost a year. I use it all the time to smoke pork butts, ribs, and brisket. I even make summer sausage and jerky in it. It does a fantastic job. However, I have to allow myself extra time to make sure its running properly. Just about every time I use it, there are issues. This smoker had several design flaws and has cheap internal components. Not worth the price. I would spend a few extra bucks and get a better brand

So much space, so much smoke

I just recently smoked a whole brisket, and it went wonderful. Maintained good temperature and keep a good constant smoke, I got a great bark and flavor on the brisket. I also smoked 5 whole beer can chickens in it and still had room. Great for making a lot of food or smoking large foods.

The Skinny:

  • Temperature range between 150–450 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Large-capacity hopper for extended cooks
  • Large window to monitor food
  • Designed with sturdy materials

Things We Love

Temperature-control Features

You can’t have low-and-slow cooking without consistently low temperatures. That’s why the guys at Pit Boss designed their Copperhead Series pellet smokers with easy-to-use controls that let you pinpoint exact heat levels within the 150–450-degree temperature range. When you’ve got guests to entertain or food to prepare, there’s nothing better than the 10 temperature presets and startup and cooldown cycles found on the Copperhead smokers.

It’s when you’re cooking, though, that these features really shine. Several components of these Pit Boss smokers — the external heat indicator, included meat probe with digital LED readouts, and large viewing window — allow you to stay informed without opening the door and letting precious heat or smoke escape (the sturdy door latch deserves some praise, too). If you need to open the door to show off the goods or just want an extra boost of flavorful smoke, there’s also a prime function that burns a new batch of pellets with a 300-watt ignitor and fan-forced draft.

Durable & Efficient Design

At this point, you might be wondering why Pit Boss calls these smokers Copperheads. It has nothing to do with snakes (no judgement if smoked snake is on the menu at your next cookout) — instead, the name comes from the beautiful hammertone copper finish of these pellet cookers. Underneath that attractive finish is a cold-rolled, double-walled steel body with high-heat coating, giving Copperhead Series smokers the durability for years of cooking.

But Pit Boss also values an efficient smoking experience, so Copperhead models come with a slide-out grease tray and ash pan for simple cleanup. Moving the smoker around is even easier thanks to two front swivel caster wheels and two more in the rear that can lock into place. For those who’d like to give water-smoking a try, the included water pan can be filled with marinades or other liquids to provide extra flavor and moisture. Trust us, you’ll want to give it a try.

Large-capacity Hopper

Did we mention these pellet smokers can cook a whole bunch of food? The two Copperhead Series models have different pellet capacities and cooking areas, but the smaller 3 Series edition shouldn’t be overlooked. With the Pit Boss Copperhead 3 Series, you get 800 square inches of cooking space across four adjustable racks and a hopper that can hold up to 35 pounds and smoke for 18 hours. The Pit Boss Copperhead 7 Series, meanwhile, boasts 2,059 square inches of cooking area, six porcelain-coated racks, a 60-pound hopper, and a smoke time of up to 24 hours!

No matter which model you choose, the hopper has a side window to check fuel levels, a hinge door for quick refills, and a clean-out door to empty the pellets or change flavors. Just keep in mind that the Copperhead Series works best with Pit Boss pellets.

Things to Consider

If your goal is to smoke at low temperatures for an extended period of time without refilling your fuel, the Pit Boss Copperhead Series is a great option for you. But we know you may have more questions about these smokers, which is why our BBQ experts are standing by at 1-877-743-2269 to help you make the right decision.

When will my item arrive?

Once shipped, items usually arrive within 3-5 business days. While UPS and FedEx are our carriers for smaller items, be aware that larger items and orders are shipped via freight. The freight process is a bit more complicated than what we've all come to expect for small parcels, so it's important that you're prepared and understand what's required of you well before delivery day.

  • Most freight products ship on a pallet
  • Some carriers will call to schedule a delivery window, while others will deliver the shipment to a reasonably accessible location closest to your residence (their goal is to deliver as near a garage door as they can).
  • We'll specify which process you can expect in your shipping confirmation email.

For carriers that schedule delivery appointments:

Carriers that schedule delivery appointments require you to be home for delivery and provide your signature. The delivery is made with a semi-truck with lift gate services, and the shipment is dropped off at the curb. If you authorize the shipping company to leave the delivery without a signature, BBQGuys can't be held responsible for damages that occur during delivery. As complicated as this process may seem, we've only scratched the surface here — please review our detailed guide to freight delivery so there are no surprises when a freight shipment heads your way.

For carriers that deliver without an appointment:

Carriers that deliver without an appointment don't require you to be home or set up a delivery window, and you aren't required to sign for the pallet(s). Instead of scheduling an appointment, arranging your schedule to be home for the delivery, and signing to confirm receipt, you can sit back and let your items come to you. If you're home at the time of the drop-off, you can request the driver place your delivery in the garage; if you're out of the house, the driver will leave it near the garage or doorstep.

30-Day Returns

Return all new, unused, and unassembled items in their original packaging, and we'll give you a full refund minus the cost of the original AND return shipping.
