Very well built. Happy with the way this smoker performs. Have done ribs, brisket and poultry. Well pleased with this purchase
I have now bought two pit boss smokers my first one was a combo smoker and grill bought it back 2020 and we used it and loved how easy it was to operate and maintain the downside to the pit boss is the igniter box rusted out and I'm no longer able to use the smoker so we bought a new one today the vertical smoker
Held temp great. Lots of room, was able to prepare a 25 lb brisket with room to spare. The app integrated well with the smoker and the large hopper was able to fuel an 18 hr cook with no refills.
Numbering all the parts would have been more helpful than guessing if this part goes here or there. Only the caster wheels had numbers.
Use primarily for smoking snake sticks and summer sausage. The big volume allows me to easily hang 25 12 inch sausages
The smoker rack size is amazing so much room and the ability to move the racks is also great. I have two of these smokers What's not great is the fact that one has gone through 3 igniters a control panel and has had two back burns The second is on its second igniter and about to get a new control panel. Wish the door latches were better also the slip Like I sad love them but hate them
Just got this on September 2026 as a retirement gift from my company. Put it together on October 3rd. No issues there, all the parts were there, nothing dented or damaged. Easy to assemble. Auger priming went great, Burn off went great. Then I put it to use on October 6th cooking some ribs. I use the 3-2-1 cooking method. I started the smoker up exactly as instructed in manual, set the temp for 240f. Smoker locked in on 239-241f degrees. Then I noticed after 2.5 hours the temp starting to climb. It spiked to 263f and was still climbing. I pulled the burn pot to see if it was too full. It looked fine. As I had it out the temp started to drop and stabilized at 239f-241f again. About a half hour later I pulled the ribs to wrap them. When I put them back in I bumped my target temp from 240f to 250f. At that point the temp got completely out of control. It steadily climbed to 306. I made sure my water pan was full and checked the burn pot again. Those were fine. I bumped my target temp down to 230f. The temp finally started to drop but it wouldn't stop dropping. It dropped down to 175f and a "auger err" popped up. I had to pull the ribs and finish them in the oven. The next morning I turned the smoker back on, the burn pot was fine, the auger was dropping pellets, I set the temp to 240f and it climbed to 306f and was still climbing when I decided to turn it back off again. Not a good start for a new product. I don't think I would recommend this product at this time.
I got it to work through a few racks of pork ribs, and only a quarter way through a brisket and it died. Will need to use product warranty to rectify issues. Bought it seeing my dads smaller variant had been reliable and easy to use for a long time, so I jumped into the bigger one to cook food for to last a week at a time. Hoping that this opinion can be turned around.

have not been able to use it. keep getting error codes and cannot complete the burn in cycle, I talked to Pit Boss twice now and they are sending me a new controller, hope that fixes it
My first smoke was a brisket. I had no problems going through the initial prime and burn-in procedure. I had two major issues with my first smoke. 1) The built-in temperature sensor reads 20 degrees higher than the one I use for ground truth. If I hadn't checked, I would have been trying to smoke the brisket at 210 instead of 230 degrees. 2) Sometime around 4 AM, the temperature spiked. I was napping and didn't catch it until 7:30 AM. It was at 310 to 320 degrees. I tried setting it to 180, but it just kept spiking. No fires. I finally had to go through the shutdown procedure and unplug the smoker. Turns out the burn pot was nearly completely full of ash. I was using Pit Boss Mesquite pellets. Once I cleaned it out and fired the smoker back up, the smoke finished at an acceptable time. I give it 3 stars because I've only used it once. Most of my smokes are long ones. If I have to empty the burn pot in the middle of all my smokes, I will have to find a better smoker. My previous smoker was a Pit Boss pro 1150 from Lowes (grill/smoker combo). I NEVER had to empty the burn pot in the middle of a smoke using that one.

When will my item arrive?
Once shipped, items usually arrive within 3-5 business days. While UPS and FedEx are our carriers for smaller items, be aware that larger items and orders are shipped via freight. The freight process is a bit more complicated than what we've all come to expect for small parcels, so it's important that you're prepared and understand what's required of you well before delivery day.
- Most freight products ship on a pallet
- Some carriers will call to schedule a delivery window, while others will deliver the shipment to a reasonably accessible location closest to your residence (their goal is to deliver as near a garage door as they can).
- We'll specify which process you can expect in your shipping confirmation email.
For carriers that schedule delivery appointments:
Carriers that schedule delivery appointments require you to be home for delivery and provide your signature. The delivery is made with a semi-truck with lift gate services, and the shipment is dropped off at the curb. If you authorize the shipping company to leave the delivery without a signature, BBQGuys can't be held responsible for damages that occur during delivery. As complicated as this process may seem, we've only scratched the surface here — please review our detailed guide to freight delivery so there are no surprises when a freight shipment heads your way.
For carriers that deliver without an appointment:
Carriers that deliver without an appointment don't require you to be home or set up a delivery window, and you aren't required to sign for the pallet(s). Instead of scheduling an appointment, arranging your schedule to be home for the delivery, and signing to confirm receipt, you can sit back and let your items come to you. If you're home at the time of the drop-off, you can request the driver place your delivery in the garage; if you're out of the house, the driver will leave it near the garage or doorstep.
