Customer Reviews
Product was delivered but was missing the grease tray and the part needed to hold the grease tray
Was very excited about this purchase and had plans on smoking some food for the family for the upcoming Christmas holiday. Putting the smoker together was very easy, took less than an hour. Follow all the instructions like priming the auger and doing the burn off… also used a brand new sack of "Pit Boss" pellets. Loaded the smoker up with food and put it on the low smoke setting. After about 45 min to an hour it throws the ERL code and shuts off. This has happened 3 times, it's basically useless lol a smoker that won't smoke for around 350-400 bucks. Their customer service is also closed on weekends so was not able trouble shoot. Now I'm stuck… pretty disappointed in my experience so far. If not for the error this would've been a 5 star review. Everything besides this is solid construction. I'm really hoping that customer service will work with me to get this resolved.
A little difficult to put together, but I was able to manage by myself. When I first started it up, it was overheating and not stopping at the desired temperature, after a couple hours I tried again and it works great. I would recommend the smoker.
Open put all together notice that one of the welds is broke brand new out of box
Works very well been wanting one for a while to smoke food
I don't know how I've went without 1 my whole life
I've only used it twice so far but. I am very happy with it. I made 4 dozen wings on a cool fall night and the came out awesome.
It's not working the way it's intended; it will not heat up pass 130 degrees.
Copperhead 3 Vertical Smoker. Followed all instructions to the letter. Error messages the first time we tried to use it. Followed repair instructions and it worked once after that. Next time it completely stopped working three hours into smoking an expensive brisket. Error message again. Not dealing with having to be my own repair man on a new, rather pricey smoker. So far it's been a complete piece of junk. We will see how it goes with the warranty claim. As of now we are extremely disappointed.
Questions & Answers
Hi Ryan. Pit Boss limits this smoker to only using pellets and no other fuels.
Asked by Ryan | Answered by WesleyHi Grace. Flame Boss would be unnecessary for the Pit Boss Pellet Smoker. With pellet smokers, the temperature is set on the onboard controller.
Asked by Grace | Answered by WesleyThe smoker needs to stay plugged for the entire cook. Power is needed for the fan and auger to operate.
Asked by John | Answered by jim.karen.bIt has to stay plugged in for the entire cook, because the temperature fluctuates.
Asked by John | Answered by harrygoldsmithnyIt needs to stay plugged in so the fan continues to feed the fire with oxygen, and when more pellets are needed to keep the temp up it turns the auger and ignites them with the ignition element.
Asked by John | Answered by hiya26If you unplug it will stop cooking
Asked by John | Answered by carlnkidsNeeds to be plugged in the entire cook. Get Outlook for https://aka.ms/o0ukef
Asked by John | Answered by shermj01Leave it plugged in the entire cook time. Otherwise the pellets will go out, and the smoker needs to continue to feed pellets as they burn up.
Asked by John | Answered by mark.grahnNeeds to stay plugged in, the ignitor, feed and fan need to run to maintain the temp and smoke

Asked by John | Answered by garychampagneHi Glenn, this smoker is great for smoking cheese using the included height-adjustable racks!
Asked by Glenn | Answered by RyanHi AJ. You can use the "Prime" button, which adds extra pellets to the burn pot, giving an extra burst of smoke for a while. But there is no dedicated smoke setting other than the temperature dial.
Asked by AJ | Answered by Joey, BBQGuys ExpertHi Andy! According to the manual, they recommend that keeping it out of the wind. And that when open, cold gusts of wind can cool your internal temperature. Take a look at page 13 of the manual for more details: https://cdn.shocho.co/sc-specsheets/pbv3p1_manual_77350.pdf?_ga=2.220407256.1545792586.1594644085-249970402.1587136285&_gac=1.195633886.1594667269.CjwKCAjwjLD4BRAiEiwAg5NBFs9ohotaInEVdjv8frA5YAyWeclSM_v_nGrVGyw4mV5fs5OF_9vdnhoCmGwQAvD_BwE
Asked by Andym | Answered by TiffanyHello. Once it's completely cooled, you can use a long grill cleaning brush and a dust pan to remove the ashes. A vacuum can also be used for easy ash removal. More care and maintenance tips can be found on page 18 in the instructions manual: https://cdn.shocho.co/sc-specsheets/pbv3p1_manual_77350.pdf

When will my item arrive?
Once shipped, items usually arrive within 3-5 business days. While UPS and FedEx are our carriers for smaller items, be aware that larger items and orders are shipped via freight. The freight process is a bit more complicated than what we've all come to expect for small parcels, so it's important that you're prepared and understand what's required of you well before delivery day.
- Most freight products ship on a pallet
- Some carriers will call to schedule a delivery window, while others will deliver the shipment to a reasonably accessible location closest to your residence (their goal is to deliver as near a garage door as they can).
- We'll specify which process you can expect in your shipping confirmation email.
For carriers that schedule delivery appointments:
Carriers that schedule delivery appointments require you to be home for delivery and provide your signature. The delivery is made with a semi-truck with lift gate services, and the shipment is dropped off at the curb. If you authorize the shipping company to leave the delivery without a signature, BBQGuys can't be held responsible for damages that occur during delivery. As complicated as this process may seem, we've only scratched the surface here — please review our detailed guide to freight delivery so there are no surprises when a freight shipment heads your way.
For carriers that deliver without an appointment:
Carriers that deliver without an appointment don't require you to be home or set up a delivery window, and you aren't required to sign for the pallet(s). Instead of scheduling an appointment, arranging your schedule to be home for the delivery, and signing to confirm receipt, you can sit back and let your items come to you. If you're home at the time of the drop-off, you can request the driver place your delivery in the garage; if you're out of the house, the driver will leave it near the garage or doorstep.
