Program temperatures with ease using the front-panel control knob and monitor cabin temperature, programmed temperature and readouts for up to two wired meat probes (one meat probe is included) using the digital LED readout. The 35-pound capacity pellet hopper features a side-window for at-a-glance fuel level checking, a hinged access door for quick fill-up and a clean-out door to empty pellets for cleaning or changing flavors. A removable water pan mounted near the base of the cabinet can be filled with your favorite marinades to add more flavor and keep foods fall-off-the-bone tender. A grease tray catches drippings at the bottom of the smoker and slides out for easy cleanup. 2 front swivel casters, 2 rear locking swivel casters and a handle allow for easy placement and portability.

Loved it initially

I cooked on this quite a bit but question the design. There is a grease tray at the bottom. In all the times I used the smoker this tray never had anything but ash dust. Last week it actually ended up with some grease and cooking at 275 this grease caught on fire and burned up the electronics. The other Pit fall (to include competitors) is the location of the control. You open the door pull out a shelf to baste the meat and the drippings drip right on the control panel. My issue is at 275 this grease tray should not have caught fire. If they moved the controller to the fide or even ip higher it may make this a great smoker. Unfortunately I purchased this 4 days before they offered a 5 year warranty and I have a unit that smells like burnt transistors. Hoping their customer service works with me. If not I understand but I might look elsewhere. A company shines when things go wrong but they put an efgort to make it right. Verdict is pending on customer service at the moment.

Great smoker, great customer service!

Love this smoker! Have done some ribs, and smoked meatloaf so far, and both turned out great! I also appreciate the help and support of BBQGuys in rapidly dealing with returning the first unit I received - which arrived with a dented up door, and crushed auger housing. The return was handled quickly and smoothly, the replacement smoker arrived as scheduled and was defect free. A job well done all 'round

Great Smoker worth the money

This is a great smoker. After trying several different smokers I decided to spend a little more money and it was worth it.. I really I enjoy the wood pellets and never have to add chips for smoke flavor as I get it through the various types of wood pellets I am burning. It is very easy to operate and it is important to understand the temperature does swing during operation. However, it does maintain the set temperate ( swinging 20 degree either way) so I have had no issue cooking moist and smoke flavor to perfection.. I highly recommend getting this smoker. I use it at least 3 times a week and just cooked a pizza opening up several other menu options..

Love this Smoker

I've only had this smoker for 5 days, I've smoked Ribs, jalapeño poppers, stuffed mushrooms, and today smoked some cheese. This pellet smoker is awesome. I've been smoking meat for 30 plus years, I can lock in the temp and leave. The water lasts a long time, no charcoal, propane and no mess. Everything has came out awesome. Best value for the buck. I can't explain how user friendly this unit is. Thanks Pitt Boss.

YOU HAVEN'T BOUGHT ONE YET!!!

Bought one last summer (Pit Boss 3). I build and sell smokers as a hobby. But sometimes I want to just relax and hanging out. These smokers allow me to do just that. Have you meat ready with you favorite seasoning. Prime your unit, set in your meat. set your desired temp. and go get your favorite brew and JJJUUUUSSSTTT HHHHAAANNNGG!! The big boys I build are great. You cannot out cook them. But this Pit Boss turns out some great food. Just last week bought some country style pork ribs. Put on my favorite seasoning RS. Best there is. Set the Boss on smoke. Smoked for 2 hrs. Pulled and rapped in foil. Set the Boss on 275, pulled them off 3 hrs later. Juicy, falling of the bone!! You have heard the old " Slap Yo Mama!! Just don't say it in front of mama. It's Christmas. Do your family a favor. Get one!!

The Skinny:

  • Temperature range between 150–450 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Large-capacity hopper for extended cooks
  • Large window to monitor food
  • Designed with sturdy materials

Things We Love

Temperature-control Features

You can’t have low-and-slow cooking without consistently low temperatures. That’s why the guys at Pit Boss designed their Copperhead Series pellet smokers with easy-to-use controls that let you pinpoint exact heat levels within the 150–450-degree temperature range. When you’ve got guests to entertain or food to prepare, there’s nothing better than the 10 temperature presets and startup and cooldown cycles found on the Copperhead smokers.

It’s when you’re cooking, though, that these features really shine. Several components of these Pit Boss smokers — the external heat indicator, included meat probe with digital LED readouts, and large viewing window — allow you to stay informed without opening the door and letting precious heat or smoke escape (the sturdy door latch deserves some praise, too). If you need to open the door to show off the goods or just want an extra boost of flavorful smoke, there’s also a prime function that burns a new batch of pellets with a 300-watt ignitor and fan-forced draft.

Durable & Efficient Design

At this point, you might be wondering why Pit Boss calls these smokers Copperheads. It has nothing to do with snakes (no judgement if smoked snake is on the menu at your next cookout) — instead, the name comes from the beautiful hammertone copper finish of these pellet cookers. Underneath that attractive finish is a cold-rolled, double-walled steel body with high-heat coating, giving Copperhead Series smokers the durability for years of cooking.

But Pit Boss also values an efficient smoking experience, so Copperhead models come with a slide-out grease tray and ash pan for simple cleanup. Moving the smoker around is even easier thanks to two front swivel caster wheels and two more in the rear that can lock into place. For those who’d like to give water-smoking a try, the included water pan can be filled with marinades or other liquids to provide extra flavor and moisture. Trust us, you’ll want to give it a try.

Large-capacity Hopper

Did we mention these pellet smokers can cook a whole bunch of food? The two Copperhead Series models have different pellet capacities and cooking areas, but the smaller 3 Series edition shouldn’t be overlooked. With the Pit Boss Copperhead 3 Series, you get 800 square inches of cooking space across four adjustable racks and a hopper that can hold up to 35 pounds and smoke for 18 hours. The Pit Boss Copperhead 7 Series, meanwhile, boasts 2,059 square inches of cooking area, six porcelain-coated racks, a 60-pound hopper, and a smoke time of up to 24 hours!

No matter which model you choose, the hopper has a side window to check fuel levels, a hinge door for quick refills, and a clean-out door to empty the pellets or change flavors. Just keep in mind that the Copperhead Series works best with Pit Boss pellets.

Things to Consider

If your goal is to smoke at low temperatures for an extended period of time without refilling your fuel, the Pit Boss Copperhead Series is a great option for you. But we know you may have more questions about these smokers, which is why our BBQ experts are standing by at 1-877-743-2269 to help you make the right decision.

When will my item arrive?

Once shipped, items usually arrive within 3-5 business days. While UPS and FedEx are our carriers for smaller items, be aware that larger items and orders are shipped via freight. The freight process is a bit more complicated than what we've all come to expect for small parcels, so it's important that you're prepared and understand what's required of you well before delivery day.

  • Most freight products ship on a pallet
  • Some carriers will call to schedule a delivery window, while others will deliver the shipment to a reasonably accessible location closest to your residence (their goal is to deliver as near a garage door as they can).
  • We'll specify which process you can expect in your shipping confirmation email.

For carriers that schedule delivery appointments:

Carriers that schedule delivery appointments require you to be home for delivery and provide your signature. The delivery is made with a semi-truck with lift gate services, and the shipment is dropped off at the curb. If you authorize the shipping company to leave the delivery without a signature, BBQGuys can't be held responsible for damages that occur during delivery. As complicated as this process may seem, we've only scratched the surface here — please review our detailed guide to freight delivery so there are no surprises when a freight shipment heads your way.

For carriers that deliver without an appointment:

Carriers that deliver without an appointment don't require you to be home or set up a delivery window, and you aren't required to sign for the pallet(s). Instead of scheduling an appointment, arranging your schedule to be home for the delivery, and signing to confirm receipt, you can sit back and let your items come to you. If you're home at the time of the drop-off, you can request the driver place your delivery in the garage; if you're out of the house, the driver will leave it near the garage or doorstep.
