Best large grill on the market!

This is my second Summit Grill Center, I had one at my previous home, but sold it with the house, so I knew I had to get one for our new home. I absolutely love this grill, it has size to cook for a crew if needed, plus you can do amazing things with the infrared burner. We grill pizza at least twice a week on this. We have no need for a "pizza oven" since we have our Summit. Well worth the cost and you cannot beat Weber for customer service.

Weber Grill Station

Love this grill. Really happy with the quality and looks of this grill station. So many features and options for cooking. I have grilled, smoked, used the rotisserie, done a low country bowl on the side burner to pizza using indirect heat for an oven!

Best bang for the buck!

I bought the Weber Summit Grill Center about 6 months ago and have used it several times per week since then and I'm very pleased with how well it cooks and how nice it looks. First of all, I bought it because it had all the features I was looking for - very large grill surface area, sear burner, rotisserie, over sized side burner, smoke box, plenty of storage, and leveling legs not castors. This is the only one that fit the bill. Price was very reasonable considering all the features. As for performance, the grill heats very evenly, almost zero flair ups, searing is done to perfection, the rotisserie did just fine with three chickens on the spear, and the over sized side burner is big enough to handle my largest stock pot for cooking Alaskan King Crab legs. I haven't tried the smoker or Wok yet but suspect they'll work just fine as well. I was originally planning on built in separates but found that route very expensive and not much flexibility down the road if something should need to be replaced or if I wanted to change the cooking options. The Weber Summit Grill Center has a built in look because of the leveling legs vs castors which allowed me to build a masonry (cement block, stucco and granite) surround around it. Looks great, and ended up at a fraction of the cost of going the full built in route. I live in Southern California with not much rain or humidity, so I don't think I'll develop any rust issues anytime soon as long as I keep it covered when not in use. However, I would say that Weber used the minimum gauge stainless everywhere they could and opted for powder coated steel framework and back panels vs stainless or aluminum. Moving it in place wasn't much of a problem with a plastic furniture slider disc under each leg and the ability to level it up to the granite surface height was a big plus for a true built in look. Overall I'm very pleased with the performance and features and satisfied with the build quality.

Not for outdoor use

Granted my model is 6 years old, but the cabinet parts are not impervious to outdoor elements. The grill itself is still operational, but the coastal air has taken its toll on the cabinet and the door has rusted off entirely...I wish Weber offered a more environment resistant cabinet....Or at least not discontinue replacement parts that tend to rust away...

Beautiful grill terrible knobs

As others have stated the knobs are terrible quality. I have my outdoor kitchen covered along with a grill cover and not sure if they just got weak or dried or what, but went to turn it on and 2 knobs just fell into my hand. They grill has a few quirks that I don't believe should be there for the cost of the grill, but I can deal with it. I've been using Weber grills since the early 90's and I'm always happy. It seems as though as they get more creative the quality they're known for starts to lack, which is a bad business model especially when you have long time users of their products. When things like this happen I start researching to see if it's me or if it's a quality issue and the latter seems to be the case. It would be great if they realized the mistake, and made a correction and then, as auto makers do, issue a recall(send replacements to all owners with the issue that has a registered grill) to correct it, instead of waiting for people to have an issue and try to figure out ways to contact customer service to resolve the issue. Just looking at the place it's cracked, from my perspective if they're was a metal sleeve over something that gets so much use, it may have prevented something like this from becoming a widespread issue and would be a fairly inexpensive way to resolve this many problems, but that's just my opinion and I'm no engineer. I come back to Weber because they're warranty is great, the problem is, going through the extra unnecessary steps of having to contact them and wait for a return call then explain and then wait for the replacement to arrive, all the while working around the imperfections while waiting, when it could possibly be avoided by having a good quality control check. Instead of having someone look at a gauge to determine quality, put it in a real persons hand and let that be a determiner. Once again, the grill is great, just quality issues in some parts.

Expert Review

The Skinny:

  • Weber's top-of-the-line gas grill
  • Control knob lighting
  • Snap-Jet ignition for reliable startup
  • 9mm stainless steel rod cooking grids
  • Heavy duty stainless steel

Things We Love:

Weber Summit Gas Grills are Weber's top-of-the-line gas grill. The Summit's cooking system (burners, flavorizer bars, and beefy cooking grids) are all stainless steel. Along with the durable cooking system, there are several convenient features not found on other Weber gas grills that separate the Summit as the best.

The Weber Summit includes an attached Grill Out handle light that automatically illuminates your grill for easy nighttime cooking. I also really love the reliable start up using the Snap-Jet ignition since each different burner has its own flame throwing ignition. Another feature that takes convenience to the next level is the LED propane tank scale, which lets you know exactly where you stand on fuel at all times.

For minimizing flare-ups, the Summit's Stainless Steel Flavorizer bars can be found directly above the burners. They shield the burners by catching drippings and turning them to smoke, adding flavor to your food. Weber pioneered the Flavorizer bar in 1984, and since then they've proven to do their job extremely well, which is why they're still preventing flare-ups on all Weber gas grills today!

All Summit freestanding and grill center models include a 12,000 BTU side burner, which comes in handy if you need to warm up a side dish or a sauce. Additionally, when the side burner's lid is shut, it sits flush against its surface, which adds even more shelving space to the grill cart. The Summit 470 and 670 models include three additional features; a 10,600 BTU rear burner and rotisserie kit, a 10,600 BTU searing station for that extra high heat when you need it, and a 6,800 BTU wood chip smoker box with a dedicated burner.

With over 50 years in business, Weber Grills customer service is as good as it gets. They have a 10 year warranty on the grill body and on the burners. They have reputable service and quickly handle any service or replacement part situations.

Things To Consider:

The burner housing and the rear of the grill, even on the stainless steel models, are constructed of porcelain-enameled steel which is not as durable as other all stainless steel grills in the price range.

You'll Like This Grill If:

You want Weber's top-of-the-line grill that's powered by an all stainless steel cooking system with practical features that make grilling a breeze.

When will my item arrive?

Once shipped, items usually arrive within 3-5 business days. While UPS and FedEx are our carriers for smaller items, be aware that larger items and orders are shipped via freight. The freight process is a bit more complicated than what we've all come to expect for small parcels, so it's important that you're prepared and understand what's required of you well before delivery day.

  • Most freight products ship on a pallet
  • Some carriers will call to schedule a delivery window, while others will deliver the shipment to a reasonably accessible location closest to your residence (their goal is to deliver as near a garage door as they can).
  • We'll specify which process you can expect in your shipping confirmation email.

For carriers that schedule delivery appointments:

Carriers that schedule delivery appointments require you to be home for delivery and provide your signature. The delivery is made with a semi-truck with lift gate services, and the shipment is dropped off at the curb. If you authorize the shipping company to leave the delivery without a signature, BBQGuys can't be held responsible for damages that occur during delivery. As complicated as this process may seem, we've only scratched the surface here — please review our detailed guide to freight delivery so there are no surprises when a freight shipment heads your way.

For carriers that deliver without an appointment:

Carriers that deliver without an appointment don't require you to be home or set up a delivery window, and you aren't required to sign for the pallet(s). Instead of scheduling an appointment, arranging your schedule to be home for the delivery, and signing to confirm receipt, you can sit back and let your items come to you. If you're home at the time of the drop-off, you can request the driver place your delivery in the garage; if you're out of the house, the driver will leave it near the garage or doorstep.
