Francis Undisclosed Verified Purchaser | ★★★★★ ★★★★★ I would definitely buy this again. Very well insulated. Simple controls. Very efficient wood utilization. Added my own water pans. It's not beautiful but who care? | Was This Helpful? |
Sputerbug Nacogdoches,Texas | ★★★★★ ★★★★★ Awesome Electric Smoker The unit was shipped fast and arrived via FedEx in 2 days in great condition. The smoker was easy to assemble and then season the unit. My first smoke came out excellent and was some of the best smoked meat I've ever eaten. The unit once up to temp maintained the temperature very good and definitely put out a lot of smoke for only 2 small chunks of hickory . I cooked 2 thick pork chops bone in ,a pound of jalapeno sausage and 3 brats for 21/2 hours and they all came out perfect. This smoker is so easy to use and smokes the tastiest meats I've ever cooked. I highly recommend this smoker. Maintains temperature, produces plenty of smoke and is to use. Holds plenty of meat for a small party at least a dozen people. | Was This Helpful? |
John G Columbus, Ohio | ★★★★★ ★★★★★ Fantastic! The unit is very well constructed and simple to use. The oven temperature rarely fluctuates more than a few degrees. It's like an outdoor CrockPot. Perfect for an active lifestyle. | Was This Helpful? |

Peterh San Antonio | ★★★★★ ★★★★★ Wish I knew more before purchase I was so excited about this because I have a friend that loves his and has had it for 10 years. I took his advise and bought it, but have had several issues with it that for me give me serious regrets about purchase. I don't like writing negative reviews because I'm sure this is a great company trying to keep things going, but for me I don't even want to use it and I've only had three months and used 3 times. I live in Texas so it gets warm, but it I didn't use this for the first time until mid September and halfway through a 12 hour brisket smoke it shut off. None of the buttons would turn it back on. I finally had to unplug it to reset it. I called Customer Support for Cookshack and they told me the controller will over heat if its in direct sunlight too long. Well, I have no where to put it that it won't be getting direct sunlight for part of the day and for sure during use on long smokes. The second thing that really bothers me about this exact model is its a little too narrow for a big brisket and a rack of ribs rubs on both sides of the oven so you really can't put them in parallel to the door. If you want to season them or sauce them during a cook you have to slide the whole shelf out (which btw drips a huge mess all over the ground in front of the smoker) requiring two hands and lots of hassle. The third (and major for me) issue is somehow liquid/moisture is escaping and doesn't make it to the drip pan, but instead makes its way to the wheels so it leaves big black stains where the wheels are. I have a stained concrete patio that new has black circles on it that have taken lots of work to try and remove. So in order for me to use this thing it has to be in the right amount of shade and I have to cover the surface its on to keep from staining of just not worry about the mess. Again, I know its a great company with highly rated products, but for someone like me trying to get into smoking on occasion this one is not for me! I regret this purchase!!! | Was This Helpful? |
Leasec Houston, TX | ★★★★★ ★★★★★ Bought American to ensure quality and got a defective latch I bought an American made smoker hoping to avoid this: a defective latch that will not lock into place with the slide bar. Very disappointed that such an expensive (and made in the USA) product doesn't work properly and was shipped defective. | Was This Helpful? |
Scott W Coeur D'Alene, Idaho | ★★★★★ ★★★★★ Had the wrong part installed in it. The unit I bought was a 120v, but had a 240v heating element in it, installed at the factory by accident. I realized something
was wrong when it took forever to heat up. I called Cookshack and they said that they may have inadvertently installed a
240v element. They sent me a new 110v element to install. While installing the element, I noticed that several welds were really
sloppy, and they had welded the area closed that was needed to access the heating element. I managed to bend the sheet
metal back and install the element, and it works okay now. I'm not real happy about having ruined a cook, with lots of
expensive meat, or the fact that I had to do the repair work myself. After I was done, I realized that setting my tools on top
of the unit had caused some minor scratching on a smoker that I hadn't used successfully yet. It's irritating, but no fault of
the BBQGuys. Cookshack never offered any sort of apology or compensation for my work or frustration. In fact, they ignored
my last email offering to return the 240v element, and making them aware of the sloppy workmanship. I'm afraid I could not
recommend this smoker, mainly because of the quality issues. | Was This Helpful? |

Expert Review
Back to TopThe Skinny:
- Stainless steel, double-walled construction for superior insulation
- Smokes large amounts of food at once
- Reaches temperatures as low as 140 degrees Fahrenheit
- Proudly made in the USA
Things We Love:
The key to good smoked BBQ is maintaining temperatures throughout your cook. That’s why Cookshack smokers are built with durable stainless steel and superior insulation that keeps internal temperatures consistent while the exterior remains cool to the touch. Cookshack has produced quality, American-made smokers for more than 50 years, and its collection now includes four different models that come with five pounds of hickory wood and a “Smoking at Home” cookbook. It’s everything you need to start smoking right away!
Spacious Cooking Area:
No matter which Cookshack electric smoker you choose, you’ll be able to confidently cook for a crowd. The AmeriQue smoker, the biggest among them, is capable of holding up to 50 pounds of food across its four included racks and 1,008 square inches of cooking area. The Cookshack SuperSmoker has one fewer rack but boasts a 756-square inch cooking surface and can accommodate 35 pounds of food. If you don’t need that much cooking space, try the Smokette Elite or Smokette Original, which are still big enough to fit up to 25 pounds of food.
Convenient Controls:
Smoking can be a precise process, so Cookshack equipped most of its smokers with tools to make it easy. The Amerique, SuperSmoker and Smokette Elite each have a digital controller and meat probe so you can monitor internal food temperature, create timers, and set heat levels. These three smokers have a temperature range between 140–300 degrees to give you cooking versatility. The Smokette Original, meanwhile, has an analog thermometer and can reach temperatures between 140–250 degrees, perfect for low-and-slow smoking.
Things to Consider:
If the latest technology is important to you, keep in mind that these units are not compatible with Wi-Fi like some of the pricier smokers on the market today. For more help deciding if a Cookshack smoker is right for you, call one of our BBQ experts at 1-877-743-2269 today!
