Awesome Grill

After owning Weber's for 25+ years and lesser junk prior to that, this thing is amazing, not even in the same area code as the others. Never having spent upward of two grand on a grill and never having seen this grill first hand, left me with many concerns. As I began unpacking the grill I started to realize that what I had purchased wasn't anything like the previous grills I had owned. The packaging alone was amazing, no easy way for this thing to get damaged. The grates, deflectors, separators and burners were all of a much, much higher quality than anything I have previously experienced. I have had this grill for almost a month and have cooked steaks, burgers, chicken and sausages, everything came off perfect. I have zero complaints with this grill and dealing with BBQGuys was a pleasant experience.

Oh wow

I am not the kind of guy that drops north of two grand on a grill, but when my last grill started to go downhill, the search was on to find the last grill I would have to buy. Well after months of research and a road trip to actually look at the finalist, I opted for the Blaze BLZ propane model. The grill is hot and even heating. It is constructed like a tank and if you are putting it on a cart you will need help. This grill will be the last grill I ever buy and even after just a few days I know it will last. If you want a good, solid grill...this is it, you won't be disappointed. If i had to find a con, i would say the bottom of the cart could be thicker to better support the tank, but that is it.

Excellent grill, love it!

I've owned this grill for 2 years now and love it. Mine is on a cart, not built in. I store it on our deck under the eaves and wheel it out when I'm ready to use it, which is roughly twice a week year-around. Recently the middle flame tamer started dropping down onto the burner below it when I would wheel it out. I could get it reinstalled easily but it was barely perched on the pins front and back and would fall back down anytime I moved the grill. So I called Blaze thinking they could either send me a slightly longer flame tamer or maybe some longer pins for the front and back. The person I spoke to had never heard of this problem before and asked me to hold while spoke with her supervisor. She came back and told me that her supervisor told her that in rare cases the high heat of the grill can cause the fire box to bulge out a little in the middle, which explained why only the middle flame tamer was dropping down and not the two on either side. So she got my address and said they were sending a whole new fire baox, which arrived 4 days later. I call that great customer service. I would have gladly settled for a cheaper fix, and I'm sure it would have worked fine, but they sent a whole new fire box instead,

UPDATE ON MY BLARE 40 INCH NATURAL GAS GRILL.

I love this grill even more after having used it for 3 soon to be 4 years and almost 3 years built in. I switched out my grats for GrillGrates and love them. I had to relearn how to cook using them as they seem to cook far faster, more on the order of a TEC in-fra red grill I had for a few years. I honestly do believe that the drippings do vaporize, but unlike with regular grates, the point of vaporization is really close to the meat and reinfuses that flavor into the meat. I've had quite a few people comment about how tasty and favorable the meat is coming off those grates. One person ordered a set, who is an amazing grill master, and sears by them, raving to everyone he sees. I still believe this Blaze gas grill will hold its own against any on the market when put on a dollar to dollar comparison for looks, features, quality, ease of putting together and how it cooks! After years of purchasing the fork thermometers and burning them up waiting for them to read I finally purchased a "Lollypop" thermometer that reads in 2 to 3 seconds and finally my wife gets rare and medium rare instead of my prior Texas Char. A quick reading therometer and timer are must-have items for grilling.

Great Grill

I've had the grill for about a month now and I really like it. It came without the rubber stopper on the left side of the grill lid. I contacted BBQGuys and they shipped the part immediately. I got a sear burner that only used twice and replaced the original burner. The standard burners are sufficiently hot to sear any meat and it's too difficult to sear only a few pieces at a time and finish all of them evenly and at the same time. It's cooks differently than my old grill and took a bit to figure it out. Now that I feel comfortable with the way it works, I'm glad I spent the money.

NEWLY CONVERTED INTO OUTDOOR KITCHEN

Previously I had written a glowing recommendation on this grill. Since then I only love it more. Recently we had an outdoor kitchen built on site and by removing the side tables and bottom casters had the Blaze Grill and Cabinets built directly into the kitchen. I also added a Blaze double cook top gas burner, light, 3 drawer unit, 40" side stainless steel cabinet for storage with double doors, a goose neck adjustable light and a refrigerator. It is a traditional "L" shaped layout and came out beautiful. I use the grill more often. This grill continues to amaze me at how easy it is to use in a wide span of temperatures, direct and indirect heat. I'd purchase this grill again in a nano-second!

BEST GRILL ON MARKET DOLLAR FOR DOLLAR

I previously reviewed the quality, design and ease of assembly of this grill for which I gave it 5 stars (and would have given it more if possible) . When I shopped for a grill I looked at all the $5,000 to $7,000 grills, as well as those from Webber on up. I felt that dollar for dollar The Blaze 40", 5 burner on the cart equalled those high dollar grills without the extra expenditure of money. Having used it since December I can not attest to my complete satisfaction with this grill in every area of performance. I did purchase the extra Sear Burner and boy does it ever do a fabulous job searing meat and my prior grill was a TEC. This grill also has dividers between burners that you can quickly remove with no tools to arrange many different combinations of burners on and others off to create indirect grilling. And it works great when used thus. I now grill sausages indirectly and they are the best ever! The first time I did this I kept checking as they only turned gray in color. But when I checked with a probe thermometer from the ends they were well done and gray through and through. I now pull them over an active burner just to brown them slightly at the end for looks. The grill can be a power house or anywhere down from there and is extremely easy to control the heat. I have found no cold zones in my grill as I have with so many others I've had over the years. Before all I grilled was sausages (not very good), burgers, hot dogs and steaks with the occasional veggies. Now I grill a great deal more with a wider range of meals grilled. When friends are over they always admire the grill and want to know all about it and they always are impressed with the cover with our name embroidered in bright yellow on it which we also got from you. Before you go out and blow a wade of money on a trophy grill strongly consider THE BLAZE 40" 5 Burner grill. Take all the saved money and put to other uses and you will be happy you did! My wife loves how it looks and is already planning on a future outdoor kitchen, though I don't think we need it. But she likes to design! I would be remiss if I did not mention that BBQ GUYS were one of the most knowledgeable and helpful people we ran across in our intense search for a grill. We talked extensively with them via phone and they answered every question completely and to our satisfaction. The grill was assembled in less than an hour and a half, I'm slow about reading directions, and is the only product I've ever assembled in my 72 years of life that I didn't have to jiggle around with a aligning bar to get a screw in. It assembled like a dream and the alignment of each hole was precise making it super easy to assemble. The grill head came fully assembled and was to heavy for my wife and I (bad back) to lift so I stripped out the very heavy cast stainless burners, grills grates (also super heavy) and we then easily put it in place on the assembled cart. Putting the grill head back to together was very simply and went quickly. We've used this grill more than any we've ever had before and my wife often "suggests" that I fire it up and cook for her, something she never did before!

The Skinny:

  • 304-grade stainless steel construction with outstanding metal thicknesses
  • Brilliant all-around cooking performance with bulletproof ignition
  • Dual-zone grilling so effortless, it feels like you’re cheating
  • Thoughtful quality of life features for excellent value
  • Backed by a best in class warranty

Simply put? The Blaze Gas Grill is the perfect example of a Premium grill.

Blaze Traditional grills offer Premium level quality at a great value. Between thoughtful construction and thick materials, the Blaze Traditional is frankly built to last. It’s also built to perform — the burners, flame tamers, cooking grids, and especially the heat zone separators fold together into a multi-faceted grill greater than the sum of its parts. Throw in flamethrower ignition (and an infallible backup), the finest warranty in the game, convenient cart features, and that eye-popping plug and play infrared burner, and you wind up with a guaranteed entertaining investment you’ll hand down to your kids.

For this review, our irreplaceable Chef Tony put the Blaze Traditional Freestanding model through its paces in rigorous testing — such as XRF metal analysis, thermocouple heat inspection, and round upon round of roasting and searing. In his words: “It checks all the boxes.” We’re talking high performance, solid construction, rock-solid features, serious longevity, and that generous Blaze lifetime warranty.

Quality:

Scores high marks for construction — excellent metal, heat resistance, and component thickness.
  • First up, the Blaze Traditional is 304-grade stainless steel inside and out… minus a few key spots. The interior firebox, warming rack, drip pan, and inner panel of the double-walled lid are all 442-grade stainless steel. This is intentional. Such steel boasts higher titanium content than other grades, which means super strength under intense heat — leaving it less likely to crack, warp, or break welds under repeated extreme conditions.

Not to mention the thickness of these pieces. Those 8mm thick cooking grids are solid stainless steel and wide enough to absorb and hold heat nicely (which means striking sear marks at high temperatures). Blaze Traditional grills also use a 14-gauge, full-width 304-grade perforated flame tamer system that carefully guards your burners from drippings, vaporizing them on contact. Across the entire length of your firebox, your sensitive burner ports will remain grease-free and safe to operate.

Let’s talk more about those burners. Cast stainless steel burners are molded from molten steel and formed into shape, avoiding seams — they make a welcome touch for any grill in this class. Chef Tony measured 3mm thick walls on these hefty, nicely-built cast burners. That width not only backs up all claims of burner heat absorption and conductivity but promises endurance through repeated usage.

Performance:

Heat reaches 350–670 degrees Fahrenheit and the heat zone dividers conveniently stagger temperatures.
  • After 20 minutes with all burners on high, Chef Tony clocked this Blaze gas grill at 670 degrees Fahrenheit. That’s plenty for the Premium class, and high enough to drop an amazing sear on the thickest steaks around. For the minimum heat test, 20 minutes with all burners on low produced 350 degrees; that’s about what we expected. This holds the door open for various cooking techniques such as baking and roasting, and the potential for low and slow smoking by utilizing fewer burners.

Does “perforated full-width flame tamer system” ring a bell? They’re not just burner protection! When grease droplets splatter against the white-hot perforations, a subtle flame kiss sears your foods — much gentler than the charred beating of a fiery flare-up. Overall, this extinguishes flames and dissolves grease before they can cause you any headaches.

Not impressed yet? Here’s the Blaze trump card that impressed Chef Tony: heat zone dividers. This multi-zone potential really pulls the Blaze Traditional series forward from other grills in this class. Between each burner rests a 304-grade stainless steel plate that halts the transfer of heat laterally across the grill. You probably won’t be ready to appreciate this genius feature until you need to grill at staggered temperatures. As soon as you do, you’ll find that heat zone dividers hold one portion of the grill at a much higher heat than the other. For inspiration, this grants you the power to simultaneously flip seared steaks and bake sides mere inches from one another.

Features:

Leads the pack with reliable ignition, swap-in infrared burner, and best in class warranty.
  • Standing proud and dependable, the Blaze Traditional didn’t blow Chef Tony away with its feature list, but some convenient quality of life add-ons lifted an eyebrow. Blaze’s ignition system makes another solid appearance here — these flamethrower ignitions are far more dependable than piezo spark designs (and if you do have to replace them, they’re much cheaper). They’re also far simpler: a separator in the grill sends a small gas line through each igniter and, when used, the sparker igniter throws a small flame that can light the whole grill in one fell swoop. If any igniter fails, the crossover plates in the back step up for the assist; if the whole system goes, the secondary flash tube ignition comes to bat. Flash tubes can’t fail, period. If you can produce fire of any kind, and gas is trickling to that tube, the burners will light every time.

Snap in and out infrared caught Chef's attention, however. Most high-end grills won’t let you purchase an aftermarket infrared accessory burner like this; Blaze offers it whenever you want, because all these burners are easily swappable. Pop off a regular burner and slip in the plug and play infrared burner — that’s it. It doesn’t get simpler.

Other accessories include a branded grill cover, robust smoker box, and premium rotisserie kit (which happily works in tandem with the backburner for delicious roasted entrées). For freestanding Blaze Traditional models, the grill cart sneaks in a convenient paper towel rack holder against the double-walled doors, a propane tank holder with locking mechanism, swivel-locking casters, and removable side shelves for extra space and easier storage — naturally, the Blaze Traditional Built-In model doesn’t benefit from these niceties.

Chef Tony’s favorite feature? The warranty, hands down. Blaze guarantees this grill for the lifetime of the original purchaser. If that doesn’t qualify as customer service, we don’t know what does.

When will my item arrive?

Once shipped, items usually arrive within 3-5 business days. While UPS and FedEx are our carriers for smaller items, be aware that larger items and orders are shipped via freight. The freight process is a bit more complicated than what we’ve all come to expect for small parcels, so it’s important that you’re prepared and understand what’s required of you well before delivery day.

  • Most freight products ship on a pallet
  • Some carriers will call to schedule a delivery window, while others will deliver the shipment to a reasonably accessible location closest to your residence (their goal is to deliver as near a garage door as they can).
  • We’ll specify which process you can expect in your shipping confirmation email.

For carriers that schedule delivery appointments:

Carriers that schedule delivery appointments require you to be home for delivery and provide your signature. The delivery is made with a semi-truck with lift gate services, and the shipment is dropped off at the curb. If you authorize the shipping company to leave the delivery without a signature, BBQGuys can’t be held responsible for damages that occur during delivery. As complicated as this process may seem, we’ve only scratched the surface here — please review our detailed guide to freight delivery so there are no surprises when a freight shipment heads your way.

For carriers that deliver without an appointment:

Carriers that deliver without an appointment don’t require you to be home or set up a delivery window, and you aren’t required to sign for the pallet(s). Instead of scheduling an appointment, arranging your schedule to be home for the delivery, and signing to confirm receipt, you can sit back and let your items come to you. If you’re home at the time of the drop-off, you can request the driver place your delivery in the garage; if you’re out of the house, the driver will leave it near the garage or doorstep.
