Take your wood-fired cooking skills to the next level with the Pro 780 from Traeger. With more precise temperature control, D2 Direct Drive, and rugged all-terrain wheels and a stronger body, the Pro Series pellet grill can tackle any grilling challenge. The Pro series 780 pellet grill is constructed with a stamped black lid, powder coated steel, and boasts 36,000 BTUs of cooking power for the 780 square inches of cooking area.
Big Grill, Big Grilling Surface
The main grilling rack is 30 X 19 inches of porcelain coated steel grilling surface accompanied by a 30 X 10.5-inch extra grill rack for a total grilling area of 780 square inches, letting you cook a full meal all at one time.
The Pro 780 Does it All: Low & Slow or Searing Hot
The versatility of this pellet grill allows you to smoke at temperatures as low as 180 degrees and then crank it up to 500 degrees to sear to perfection. The natural airflow inside of the grill allows for convection cooking, so you can bake a pizza right on your grill. Convection cooking also means you do not have to turn your meat, unless cooking with high temperatures or if you want even grill marks.
Traeger WiFIRE
Tired of babysitting your grill? Try out the WiFIRE controller to change the temperature, set timers and access thousands of Traeger recipes using the Traeger app and your smart phone (available for iOS & Android devices). The WiFIRE controller is also compatible with Google Home and Amazon Alexa enabled devices, allowing you to control grilling temperatures, monitor internal temperature of food, set timers, and create alerts using voice commands. With the purchase of this grill, you will have access to the Traeger Grill Guide app with the perfect recipe for every occasion.
Traeger D2 Direct Drive
The D2 Direct Drive drivetrain technology makes the Ironwoods more durable, with the DC brushless motor, and increases the efficiency of the grill with Turbo Temp fast start-up, and the variable speed fan.
Efficient Pellet Consumption
When you turn on the grill, the auger begins to feed pellets into the firepot while the draft induction fan feeds air into it. The igniter rod is activated and glows red hot for the first four minutes to ignite the pellets in the firepot. These cost-effective pellets burn at a rate of only 2 lbs. per hour on high heat, 1 lb. per hour on medium heat, and only 1/2 lb. per hour when smoking. The Pro series also adds a clean out to the hopper, allowing you to quickly change the smoke flavor of the pellets while grilling.
Additional Features
- This energy efficient grill runs off a standard 110-volt outlet
- Large capacity pellet hopper, holding up to 18 pounds of Traeger hardwood pellets
- The Pro 780 has a keep warm mode so you can eat when you are ready to, not when the food is ready
- The Pro 780 features storage hooks for extra grill racks, and is built to outlast the competition from the ground up with a rock-solid sawhorse-style chassis with heavy-duty locking casters to help the grill roll easily

Customer Reviews
I am extremely disappointed with the quality of my Traeger grill. I purchased it only a year ago and despite regular use and proper care the body of the grill is already beginning to rust. For a premium-priced product that's marketed as durable and built to last this is unacceptable. I expect much better craftsmanship and weather resistance. I've kept the grill under a cover and attempting to keep it out of the elements as much as possible, so it really shouldn't be deteriorating this quickly. Even, my 10 year old charcoal grill that was 1/3 of the price, has not shown any signs of the paint or powder coat failing. It feels like I paid for a name and not qualitly.

I bought my 780 Pro pellet grill almost a year ago, I love the set it and forget it by temperature and time. I've yet to use the temperature probe feature but the simplicity of using a pellet grill well you have to try it to find out. I've cooked on it about 8 times, I'm still learning the nuances of BBQ.
Bought this a couple of days before Thanksgiving with the goal of trying to cook my first turkey for my family. I owned a Pit Boss before I purchased for a couple of years amd it was an absolute headache every time I used it. The Trager on the other hand has been a dream. I used Meat Church YouTube video for spatchcock turkey with their Hickory rub and I will never let anyone ever cook a turkey for me again. I used to hate turkey to be honest, and now I love it if I'm the one cooking. I have done multiple sets of ribs which are always successful, and recently I did my first brisket and pork butt which were overnight cooks. Traeger hasn't disconnected or stopped cooking yet. Everything I've tried on it is successful. Can't say that for their competitors. Think my wife is going to get me the Pimpmygrill rack system for father's day and I'll officially be unstoppable. Tip for new users, use Knottywood or Lumberjack pellets if you really want to lay the smoke on good. Thanks for providing such a consistent and awesome product Traeger.
First few cooks turned out great. However, internal temperature gauge is reads 20 deg F hotter than actual (confirmed by Meater and a second thermometer). Disappointing for such an expensive unit. Other than the temperature confusion, the meat turned out great. Also, the app is pretty simplistic. Needs more data, similar to Meater.
Smoked four salmon, one block of cream cheese and four pounds of bacon on my 780 and have it only week
I bought one around 8years ago and loved it, but as all things go it wore out. So what did I do I bought another one 780 pro. Love Traeger grills.
Arrived in a decent time frame and grill was easy to assemble. So far very useable. Service has been good.
I was exited to get the 780 Pro after hearing so many good things. I was pleased at first, the grill is easy to use when everything is in working order. I am going into year two of owning the grill and haven't been able to use it for the past 8 months. I have gone through 3 controllers and two power supplies to no avail. The parts are cheap and I am highly disappointed in this product. The power supply state indoor use only on them. I also feel like their quality control must be nonexistent. How do I get two straight controllers directly from the company that do not work… ridiculous! Do not buy this grill unless you like to be on hold with customer service. When the wait time for customer service or tech support states a 20 minute wait time on the website, you know there are issues!

I love the grill, and love smoking meats. There's a learning curve, but I'm all in. That being said, I still have not been able to link my grill to my home network. I will at some point, but so far it's been a royal pain!😀

The dial on the controller if so flaky. Whenever I turn it up, it goes up and then down with each click. It's very difficult to actually set the temp. Second, the probe is wildly inaccurate. It measures 120 degree water at 150, and measures ice water at 50. It's absolutely useless.

When will my item arrive?
Once shipped, items usually arrive within 3-5 business days. While UPS and FedEx are our carriers for smaller items, be aware that larger items and orders are shipped via freight. The freight process is a bit more complicated than what we've all come to expect for small parcels, so it's important that you're prepared and understand what's required of you well before delivery day.
- Most freight products ship on a pallet
- Some carriers will call to schedule a delivery window, while others will deliver the shipment to a reasonably accessible location closest to your residence (their goal is to deliver as near a garage door as they can).
- We'll specify which process you can expect in your shipping confirmation email.
For carriers that schedule delivery appointments:
Carriers that schedule delivery appointments require you to be home for delivery and provide your signature. The delivery is made with a semi-truck with lift gate services, and the shipment is dropped off at the curb. If you authorize the shipping company to leave the delivery without a signature, BBQGuys can't be held responsible for damages that occur during delivery. As complicated as this process may seem, we've only scratched the surface here — please review our detailed guide to freight delivery so there are no surprises when a freight shipment heads your way.
For carriers that deliver without an appointment:
Carriers that deliver without an appointment don't require you to be home or set up a delivery window, and you aren't required to sign for the pallet(s). Instead of scheduling an appointment, arranging your schedule to be home for the delivery, and signing to confirm receipt, you can sit back and let your items come to you. If you're home at the time of the drop-off, you can request the driver place your delivery in the garage; if you're out of the house, the driver will leave it near the garage or doorstep.
