The door is not molded to the body properly.

The door has such a large gap, it was not fitted properly. My first smoke I held at 275 for 30 minutes then it jumped to 325 and started flaming. Apparently, this is a known issue.

Great smoker! You won't regret your purchase.

Great smoker. I've already smoked ribs and pork belly with delicious results. I'm looking forward to smoking fish and chicken with it. My only complaint is with the absence of any type of seal between the lid and the smoker itself. A lot of smoke is lost via this gap. There are aftermarket seals that eliminate this issue, but I don't know if this has any significant effect on overall quality.

New WSM user

I've used my 18.5" WSM three times now - twice with baby backs, the third time a pork shoulder. My impression so far: LIKE: 1. Sturdy and well-built. If you've used a Weber kettle it's not too much different 2. Holds temps real well. Once you have your target there's very little fussing 3. Loads of accessories online. I'll likely add castors because it's difficult to move around 4. Foods come out great - expected for a charcoal smoker 5. Easy to add water, charcoal, wood chunks. NOT SO MUCH: 1. The lid fits inside the middle section - if it rains and you haven't been able to cover the Weber be prepared for a mess 2. Clean-up is not exactly a snap. Pain in the hind-quarters as a matter of fact 3. Bottom vents are a pain to adjust. Like the old-style kettle you'll be on your knees 4. Kind of expensive but I knew this going in 5. The same as with the kettle it doesn't seal tight enough to shut down and preserve unused charcoal. It's better than the kettle but I have a PK 360 that seals like a tomb. 6. Temp tends to creep up after 5 or so hours and it's not real easy to get it back down Overall the likes far outweigh the dislikes. It's easy to use, set-up and lighting is a breeze, once it gets to temp it pretty much stays there with minimal fussing, it comes with a cover, has a small footprint - it's a very nice smoker. You'll get dirty cleaning up (an ash dump vent would have been nice) and there's no place to put the lid, tongs, etc. (I bought a folding table from the Webstaurant store which was a great addition). You do have to have an internal thermometer because the included dome therm is 20 degrees low on mine, but that's no problem as we all presumably have a Thermoworks somewhere around the house. Make sure you get it covered before it gets wet or the ash pan will have sludge in it. I'll be buying the caster set from Cajun Bandit most likely and maybe the stainless door but I don't care about the smoke leak around the included door. All in all a real good purchase and I'd do it again if something happened to this one.

The reviews are spot on.

After researching smokers for months I purchased the Smokey because of the Weber name and previous reviews of other owners so glad I did. This smoker is as good as they say.

Massive cooking space, easy to use

I've had an 18" WSM for years, so when I got the opportunity to get a 22" I couldn't pass it up. The amount of real estate that thing has is crazy. It's basically two 22" kettle stacked on top of each other. The water pan is great for heat retention and moisture control. The bullet design gives you the easiest smoke you will every get. Much more than a pellet or offset. Overall, I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Super impressed

Bought the 18" smoker on the recommendation of a friend who owns an 18" and a 22". Couldn't be happier. Built a fire and adjusted the dampers the way he told me and that was it. The temperature barely changed over 9 hours. Without a doubt this is the most consistent smoker I've owned. BTW, there was probably 1/3 of the charcoal left when I closed the dampers, could've cooked for several more hours. Friend says you can get 13-14 hours out of a full basket of charcoal.

Great place to begin.

This smoker is better than anything I've used or seen used. The ability to add water, or keep around the moisture and fat dripping from the meat adds plenty of options and flavor to any cook. The reservoir acts as a direct heat diffuser, so indirect heat is easily gained and sustained. The seal at the big door is incomplete, but this adds to the overall charm and simplicity of the smoker. It's got a small footprint (compared to its capacity) and is straight forward use.

The Skinny:

  • Available in three sizes
  • Separate cooking areas for versatility
  • Can smoke a full-sized turkey
  • Includes a protective cover

Things We Love:

Weber revolutionized the grill game in 1952 with the invention of the charcoal kettle, and it hasn’t stopped innovating since. The company eventually tried its hand at slow-cooking a thing or two, resulting in a line of smokers as sleek as they are effective. After years of refining, Weber now offers its Smokey Mountain Cookers in three distinct sizes that fit the BBQ habits of just about anyone. Whether you like to make your backyard smoking central or grill on the go, there’s a Weber Smokey Mountain model for you.

Different Size Options to Fit Your Needs:

Heavy-duty smokers should take a hard look at the 22-inch Weber Smokey Mountain Cooker, which offers 726 square inches of cooking area for when you host the family BBQ. You can trust the 18-inch model to handle standard workloads, while the 14-inch Smokey Mountain Cooker is small enough to come along for the ride on your next outdoor adventure. But that’s where the differences between these charcoal smokers end.

Exceptional Features from Weber:

No matter the size, each Weber Smokey Mountain unit can cook a full-sized turkey and comes with great features designed to enhance your smoking experience. They have two separate, steel-plated cooking grates that allow you to satisfy your guests by smoking multiple foods at once, along with a Weber water smoker to add moisture. Premium-grade, steel-coated porcelain enamel is used to build both the inside and outside of these vertical smokers, which receive added durability thanks to their rust-resistant aluminum fuel doors. Even with this sturdy construction, you should still take advantage of the included cover to shield your smoker from the elements.

Oh, and did we mention that Weber Smokey Mountain Cookers are easy to use? The fuel door lets you add charcoal without interrupting the cooking process, and temperature adjustment is simple with Weber’s airflow vents. Straightforward smoking, just the way we like it!

Things to Consider:

Though these Weber smokers get the job done when it comes to cooking meats, they don’t include all the bells and whistles typically found in the pricier smokers on the market today. You can, however, use Smokey Mountain Cookers like a traditional grill. Feel free to call our BBQ experts at 1-877-743-2269 if you have any more questions about Weber smokers!

When will my item arrive?

Once shipped, items usually arrive within 3-5 business days. While UPS and FedEx are our carriers for smaller items, be aware that larger items and orders are shipped via freight. The freight process is a bit more complicated than what we've all come to expect for small parcels, so it's important that you're prepared and understand what's required of you well before delivery day.

  • Most freight products ship on a pallet
  • Some carriers will call to schedule a delivery window, while others will deliver the shipment to a reasonably accessible location closest to your residence (their goal is to deliver as near a garage door as they can).
  • We'll specify which process you can expect in your shipping confirmation email.

For carriers that schedule delivery appointments:

Carriers that schedule delivery appointments require you to be home for delivery and provide your signature. The delivery is made with a semi-truck with lift gate services, and the shipment is dropped off at the curb. If you authorize the shipping company to leave the delivery without a signature, BBQGuys can't be held responsible for damages that occur during delivery. As complicated as this process may seem, we've only scratched the surface here — please review our detailed guide to freight delivery so there are no surprises when a freight shipment heads your way.

For carriers that deliver without an appointment:

Carriers that deliver without an appointment don't require you to be home or set up a delivery window, and you aren't required to sign for the pallet(s). Instead of scheduling an appointment, arranging your schedule to be home for the delivery, and signing to confirm receipt, you can sit back and let your items come to you. If you're home at the time of the drop-off, you can request the driver place your delivery in the garage; if you're out of the house, the driver will leave it near the garage or doorstep.
