Installation went fine. I found its much easier to installed if you lay the grill on its side. Testing went kinda fine: ON/OFF - OK Temperature Setting - OK Probe Test - FAIL When selecting probe #1 to display probe #2 actually displays and vice versa. It not a catastrophic problem but for the price it's reasonable the expect the probe wiring not be to crossed.
We have a BBQ 126 (from back when Traeger was in Oregon) installed in the island. It was time for reworking this fine unit so as the 126 was removed for sandblasting and high temp powdercoat I decided a new Digital Pro Controller would be the hot ticket. The install required enlarging the controller opening 1/8th inch on all sides which the powdercoat guy did for us. Fits like a champ. Wiring is identical so no changes there. Downloaded operating instructions and did a test fire today; works great IF you follow instructions. True test is tomorrow w/a big brisket. Important points: it hooks up just the same as the old controller but the opening must be enlarged. Have fun!
I recently purchased a Traeger Pro 22 that comes standard with the upgraded Pro Controller. Prior to this purchase my experience with pellet smokers have been with the Yoder 1500 and 640. All pellet smokers are going to have swing (although those reporting 40 or 50 degree swings with their old controllers were a bit much) My Pro 22 stays within 15 degrees over or below but what's more important is your average pit temp. My Yoders also have swings to them. It's the nature of the beast when dealing with burning pellets. I'm actually very impressed that I'm staying as close to set as I am. My average pit temp on my Fireboard at the grate level runs around 218.5 when set at 225. So far I've done 3 racks of spares and currently have a brisket on that's been smoking since about 4:00 yesterday afternoon.........So far I'm very happy with the controller and look forward to many more pounds of meat being smoked on it.
Upgraded to the pro controller what a fantastic product heats up faster and temperatures are spot on
This Digital Pro Controller was easy to install on my 10 year old Pro Series Traeger. Once installed it immediately pumped new life into my grill that had been pushed to a back corner of the garage in favor of a Weber charcoal grill. My Traeger on the first run with the new controller immediately achieved temperatures over 400 degrees which it had never done even when New. The dual meat probes allowed me to monitor 2 thick cut New York strips and pull one at med-rare and the other at med-well. I can't wait to see what I can do with a brisket and pork butt roast at the same time. Great add for my old friend.
I have been a Traeger owner for the last 8 years currently own 2.I have a jr and a Texas pro. My pro had the old controller which had massive temp swings and trouble staying running on smoke. Warranty was great to work with and sent me the new pro agl controller. Never been more happy with the way it maintains temp. It actually rolls smoke on the smoke setting. When on high I can actually get to 400 degrees which I could never do before it works awsome like having a brand new grill again. Only wish I had the same one on my other grill. I plan on buying another one for it. I feel it is a definite upgrade.
After running my Traeger hard for 3 years I started having problems with the temperature reaching the selected temp as well as staying consistent. Instead of buying a new smoker which I considered I rebuilt mine with a new controller Hot Rod and temperature controller. Couldn't be more pleased. Works better than new.
Great product... super easy to use... Wish it was Bluetooth compatible.
I had it installed in about 10 minutes. No problem at all NO FILING. I guess the Junior had the three way controller The Junior Elite came with the digital controller which is the same size as the digital pro controller. Just cooked some Brats on it works just fine!
Love the new Pro Controller. Tried it on a Brisket the first day and a Pork Shoulder the second day and all I have to say is AWESOME. Still just set it and go. Watched it for a while the first day and only had a 25 degree swing 12 up and it caught it at 10 below. The controller is great on my old one I had 40 50 degree swings. Way better control.

When will my item arrive?
Once shipped, items usually arrive within 3-5 business days. While UPS and FedEx are our carriers for smaller items, be aware that larger items and orders are shipped via freight. The freight process is a bit more complicated than what we've all come to expect for small parcels, so it's important that you're prepared and understand what's required of you well before delivery day.
- Most freight products ship on a pallet
- Some carriers will call to schedule a delivery window, while others will deliver the shipment to a reasonably accessible location closest to your residence (their goal is to deliver as near a garage door as they can).
- We'll specify which process you can expect in your shipping confirmation email.
For carriers that schedule delivery appointments:
Carriers that schedule delivery appointments require you to be home for delivery and provide your signature. The delivery is made with a semi-truck with lift gate services, and the shipment is dropped off at the curb. If you authorize the shipping company to leave the delivery without a signature, BBQGuys can't be held responsible for damages that occur during delivery. As complicated as this process may seem, we've only scratched the surface here — please review our detailed guide to freight delivery so there are no surprises when a freight shipment heads your way.
For carriers that deliver without an appointment:
Carriers that deliver without an appointment don't require you to be home or set up a delivery window, and you aren't required to sign for the pallet(s). Instead of scheduling an appointment, arranging your schedule to be home for the delivery, and signing to confirm receipt, you can sit back and let your items come to you. If you're home at the time of the drop-off, you can request the driver place your delivery in the garage; if you're out of the house, the driver will leave it near the garage or doorstep.
