Customer Reviews
Never hot enough to give grill marks until it over heats and shuts down. No pellet clean-out. Small cook surface. Okay as a small piece smoker but bigger pieces not so much.
Have been using ours for 4 + years with no issues and we use it often! I clean it good a couple times a year and smoke on! From Thanksgiving turkeys to a pork should I have on now at 18 degrees and very windy this cooks great! I am looking to see if I can add wi-fi controls to it and it will be a 5+star if I can.

I've had my smoker for years now. Always works with no issues. Wish it had WI-FI but still works amazing.

I've always had issues with this grill since Day 1 Temps vary plus or minus 45 degrees Fire pot issue, auger over feeds causing fires.
If you have read any of the previous reviews then mine is the same...CS was pretty good. But how many parts can you replace. IT IS TO EXPENSIVE to not be able to use...not rocket science they need to figure it out. They really should refund customers and pull this model off the shelf! PERIOD!!
This was my first traeger and I loved it. It started me on an epic journey to smoking foods. I now own 6 bbqs ranging from the traeger, gas and charcoal as it ignited a passion for bbq in me. What to talk about when it comes to the broson 20: a. Size: Good for a small family or couple. I have cooked for more than a family of four on it, but it can be challenging if you want to cook different things. I have found I could cook 2 whole chickens, or over a dozen chicken thighs, or 4 lbs of wings or 3 racks of ribs. If you plan on cooking for more, you may want bigger or have to carefully plan your cook. b. Durability: Only issue I had was mentioned here by someone else. The hinges on this you need to be careful with. They bent causing the lid to not seat properly. I had the hinges bend out twice and had to have 2 lid replacements within a year. c. Warranty: Getting those lids replaced were a breeze and painless. Traeger's warranty service has been phenomenal. Just wish I could extend the warranty on their products. d. Temperature control: I found it to be pretty decent on this model. +- 15 deg. Completely acceptable for bbq. You should see the swings you can get with charcoal. I found it worked better setting it on one of the numbered thermostat temperatures instead of the smoke mode. The smoke mode could have larger swings in temp. If you absolutely need something with rock solid, go with a traeger with the D2 controller. Alsp, keep your firepot clean with any pellet grill and this will negate a lot of issues. e. Smoke flavor: Can't be beat for clean tasting smoke. If you've ever experimented with charcoal, you know how easy it is to over smoke things. Traeger takes the guess work out of getting clean smoke flavor. That's what got me hooked on cooking with wood! This was a great place to start with this grill. Only downside is now I am on my 3rd traeger as I keep upgrading! :) I went from the bronson 20 to 780 pro and now I own a timberline 1300 all within 3 years!

I am very disappointed. This model does not live up to Traeger hype. In over an hour it never reached set temp. Temp settings can be erratic. Set at 180 and it went up to 251! Have had it neatly a year and ready to give it away. Not sure how they got their reputation. Pit Boss is looking better all the time!
Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING we cook on this smoker is delicious! The smoker arrived slightly damaged (a little bent-up on one side of the barrel) due to tough handling by the shipper. But that's not Traeger's fault. I registered it through their online registration system. About three week later, I telephoned their customer support people. They shipped a brand-new barrel, which arrived about ten days later. I used the smoker before the replacement part arrived. Everything I cooked was melt-in-your mouth delicious! I've made baby back ribs, been and veggie burgers, hot dogs and sausages, and whole chicken. In addition, I've even brought home Costco's rotisserie chicken to finish-off on this Bronson model--and, yes, that rotisserie chicken came out of the smoker way better. As I write this review, this smoker is out of stock, probably because it's such a great smoker at an awesome price. I can easily prepare three racks of baby back ribs, two whole butterflied chickens, or about a dozen burgers. I really love this smoker and highlymmend it. Snap it up when Traeger has it back in stock.
Well... My problems continue... After customer service finally got back to me they were very nice and sent a new hopper and lid. The lid had instructions and hardware. The hopper was a piece of metal in a box. Inside my old hopper is a thermocouple located above the burner pot. This device unscrews from the hopper, but is too large to go through the hopper opening. To remove it, you apparently have to take the hopper apart to reach the circuit board and remove/replace the device. It all went back together, but now the grill won't turn on. I think is unacceptable to ask an ordinary home owner to do board level warrantee repair with no instruction. What do I do now? It's still under warrantee for well over a year, but the support I've gotten has been very poor. What next? You need to repair or replace this smoker. If not, just tell me to go away. Again, I didn't buy an expensive model, but it was a lot of money to me.

I bought this for Christmas in 2018 and it was great for the first year. After that, the hinges began to flex. I reached out to Traeger customer service and never received a call back. Their answering system always says there is a multi-hour wait and they will call back. They never did, even to different phone numbers. Now one hinge has broken off and the smoker is unusable. I had a great product for just over a year and now I have decoration for my deck. I can't understand why Traeger would make such a poor quality product. I saved for a long time for this grill and I can't even reach customer service for repair service.
Questions & Answers
Great question! It is a grill and a smoker. Temperatures get up to 450 degrees, perfect for searing, and can smoke at as low as 180 degrees.

When will my item arrive?
Once shipped, items usually arrive within 3-5 business days. While UPS and FedEx are our carriers for smaller items, be aware that larger items and orders are shipped via freight. The freight process is a bit more complicated than what we've all come to expect for small parcels, so it's important that you're prepared and understand what's required of you well before delivery day.
- Most freight products ship on a pallet
- Some carriers will call to schedule a delivery window, while others will deliver the shipment to a reasonably accessible location closest to your residence (their goal is to deliver as near a garage door as they can).
- We'll specify which process you can expect in your shipping confirmation email.
For carriers that schedule delivery appointments:
Carriers that schedule delivery appointments require you to be home for delivery and provide your signature. The delivery is made with a semi-truck with lift gate services, and the shipment is dropped off at the curb. If you authorize the shipping company to leave the delivery without a signature, BBQGuys can't be held responsible for damages that occur during delivery. As complicated as this process may seem, we've only scratched the surface here — please review our detailed guide to freight delivery so there are no surprises when a freight shipment heads your way.
For carriers that deliver without an appointment:
Carriers that deliver without an appointment don't require you to be home or set up a delivery window, and you aren't required to sign for the pallet(s). Instead of scheduling an appointment, arranging your schedule to be home for the delivery, and signing to confirm receipt, you can sit back and let your items come to you. If you're home at the time of the drop-off, you can request the driver place your delivery in the garage; if you're out of the house, the driver will leave it near the garage or doorstep.
