Spare Glow Plug, a must have

Well, this glow plug purchase was again obtained to keep as a spare. I do not know why but my EX6 grill eats these up. I have gone through 6 glow plugs! They just stop working. These should not fail but they do so I keep a couple of spares on hand,as without it working the pellet grill is useless. This has become expensive so I am going back to the kettle BBQ for most of my cooks.

Staff Response:
Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to learn that your glow plugs have stopped working. We apologize for the inconvenience. That is definitely not what we would expect to hear! While this is a consumable item, we expect them to last at least a year or more. We would also like to note that glow plugs will only glow during the ignition of the fuel in your grill. Your grill has a generous warranty and our Support team is here to help. Please look for an email outreach from us soon. Thanks for your patience and for being a Weber fan!

Glow Plugs Short Life Span

Just wanted to reach out to Weber concerning the short life span of the Glow Plugs. From 27Feb2022 to 03Jul2022, I have replaced the Glow Plug in my EX6 three times. I typically cook on my EX6 about twice each week, so there isn't a lot of "starts" on the Glow Plug. Reading other customer reviews, I see that this is a recurring theme with some other customers as well. Is it possible to have a vendor quality issue with some lot numbers of Glow Plugs? I asked this because the first Glow Plug in my EX6 (1st Gen) lasted approximately one year before I had to replace it, and I was cooking about the same interval (twice a week).

Glow plugs dont last long

I purchased my smokefire in August 2021 and since then I have had to replace the Glow plugs three times. In the written literature from Weber its says they should last for at least 150 grilling periods. I probably have gotten about 4-5 smoke/grill periods per glow plug thats far less than what was indicated. Is there something I should be doing differently??

Staff Response:
Thank you for your feedback. You should not have to replace the glow plug that often. Please review the steps below to troubleshoot the Glow Plug. Please make sure the grill is powered off and cool before performing these steps. -Open the grill lid -Remove the cooking grates and set aside -Remove the large flavorizer bar -Remove the diffuser so the inside of the burn pot can be seen -Use a scraper to push down (or vacuum out) any ash or debris inside the burn pot -After removing the necessary components, turn on the grill and set any cooking temperature by pressing the knob. -Look inside the exposed burn pot to observe the glow plug -The glow plug will not glow red immediately, there is up to a 90-second delay. --Wait for a few minutes to check whether the glow plug is turning red If the glow plug has turned red, it is operating as expected and NO REPLACEMENT IS NEEDED IF GLOW PLUG DOES NOT GLOW RED, then the glow plug may be bad but a couple of additional checks are in order. The glow plug will turn off after 3 minutes, its only function is to ignite the pellets, not to heat the grill. Once the pellets are ignited the glow plug is no longer needed. Once this troubleshooting step is complete, perform a shutdown of the grill. We would like to hear more about this experience. Please lookout for an email from our Support team.

Disappointed

I have owned a Webber gill for 25+ years. This is a failure. Grill has been used twice and this part failed. I get on here only to realize that everyone has this issue, but you never see that in any reviews of the grill. Weber, please get this right.

Glow plugs a no go

We purchased our SmokeFire Grill in 2021. In the 3 months we used it we have had to replace the glow plug twice and it went out a third time. Now it's hard to find this part in stores. Reading other reviews, this seems to be a common problem. Weber, can you make this right?

Staff Response:
Thank you for your feedback. We are so sorry to learn your glow plug stopped working. We are happy to help. Our Support team has troubleshooting for the glow plug we can share with you. Please look for an outreach email shortly. Thank you!

Poor performance

I've own my smoker for two years now, and this plugs are the worst, and the problem is that we are stock with them, I've replaced this plugs about 8 times now, luckily most of them where provided by Weber and some of them seem to last maybe 3 months, just replace one yesterday 2/27/22 will see how long until the next one, so as much as I love my Weber Genesis I cannot say the same for the pellet smoker, Ive spent so much time on fixing this grill by replacing damaged components that its crazy to thing this is a WEBER product, I even feel bad selling it thinking the next person is going to have a horrible time, mean while my coworker got himself another brand smoker at same time I did and has never replaced a component other than regular cleaning. and here I am buying 20 dollar plugs to have as spares so I can keep wrenching and keep my WEBER SMOKER working.

Staff Response:
Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to learn that you have had to replace your Glow Plug multiple times. That is not what we would expect and we apologize for the inconvenience! Glow Plugs should last about a year under normal conditions. All of our products are backed with a generous warranty and our Weber Support team is here to help 7 days a week. Please look for an email outreach from our Support team soon. We will help you troubleshoot this ongoing issue and help you achieve the best possible results from your SmokeFire grill. Thank you!

Free Shipping on orders over $49

Ship your entire order to your home for free, especially the big stuff! *Continental US only

When will my item arrive?

Once shipped, items usually arrive within 3-5 business days. While UPS and FedEx are our carriers for smaller items, be aware that larger items and orders are shipped via freight. The freight process is a bit more complicated than what we’ve all come to expect for small parcels, so it’s important that you’re prepared and understand what’s required of you well before delivery day.

  • Most freight products ship on a pallet
  • Some carriers will call to schedule a delivery window, while others will deliver the shipment to a reasonably accessible location closest to your residence (their goal is to deliver as near a garage door as they can).
  • We’ll specify which process you can expect in your shipping confirmation email.

For carriers that schedule delivery appointments:

Carriers that schedule delivery appointments require you to be home for delivery and provide your signature. The delivery is made with a semi-truck with lift gate services, and the shipment is dropped off at the curb. If you authorize the shipping company to leave the delivery without a signature, BBQGuys can’t be held responsible for damages that occur during delivery. As complicated as this process may seem, we’ve only scratched the surface here — please review our detailed guide to freight delivery so there are no surprises when a freight shipment heads your way.

For carriers that deliver without an appointment:

Carriers that deliver without an appointment don’t require you to be home or set up a delivery window, and you aren’t required to sign for the pallet(s). Instead of scheduling an appointment, arranging your schedule to be home for the delivery, and signing to confirm receipt, you can sit back and let your items come to you. If you’re home at the time of the drop-off, you can request the driver place your delivery in the garage; if you’re out of the house, the driver will leave it near the garage or doorstep.

30-Day Returns

Return all new, unused, and unassembled items in their original packaging, and we'll give you a full refund minus the cost of the original AND return shipping.

No Restocking Fee

Most companies charge a restocking fee. We just don't do business that way.

Message to our customers: Like all retailers and manufacturers, we’re currently experiencing well-publicized supply-chain issues and steel shortages that have caused some orders to be delayed. We sincerely apologize for any inconveniences arising from this situation, and we assure you we’re making every effort to solve these problems with our vendors and logistical partners.

So, why are some orders being affected? Major ports around the world are still operating at reduced capacity because of COVID-19 restrictions — on average, container boats sit at port for about 3 weeks before being unloaded. Combine these shipping inefficiencies with a scarcity of natural resources, and virtually every industry has been crippled to some degree. Yet we acknowledge that it’s our duty to meet these challenges head-on and work toward solutions so you can enjoy more time outdoors with the people you love. We appreciate your patience as we strive to smooth out our supply chain, and we thank you for choosing us for your grilling and outdoor living needs.
