Tray system they have for the 700sc is bad. Burnt my hands with dripping grease not going in an almost empty tray. It all lines up right but it doesn't work the way they say it does. Get the basket version and don't look back. Great bbq though. I hate the mess the faulty tray design makes. They need a conversation kit for a basket inside.
After looking at many grills, I settled on the Pit Boss because it is made with heavier gauge metal then the competition. It does not have a lot of bells and whistles so there is less to go wrong. I followed the instructions in the set-up manual and set-up was easy. I only had one problem and that was on initial startup. The igniter rod turned off before the pellets got to it. It is on a timer and only stays on for a limited amount of time. I just turned the controller off and waited a couple of minutes and started it up again. It fired right up. Pit boss might want to put that bit of information in their initial startup instructions. It's winter here in Montana so I haven't been able to use the grill much. However, I did get a chance to do a rack of baby backs. I have been trying for years to get a smoke ring with my electric smoker. I've never been able to get one. First time on the Pit boss with the ribs I had a beautiful 3/8 inch smoke ring. The meat had that pink barbeque color and was extremely tender and juicy, and that smoky wood flavor is awesome. Waiting for Spring so I can get to grilling.
I've smoked a 16 lb. turkey easily. Has plenty of room. Lights really fast. I've went through about 80 lbs. of pellets already and the grill and food is worth every pellet. Even below 0 degrees, the grill and food comes out fine. Grill is heavy and solidly built, It won't collapse into a heap of rust like other grills have in the past. Wouldn't own a regular gas grill again...
I have had this pellet grill a few months and works great with no issues. I have made many great meals and looking forward to many more.
I bought it last spring and used it multiple times last summer. Can't wait for warmer weather so I can cook with it again. Really works well with chicken and pork. Makes the best ribs and smoked chicken. Does a good job with hamburgers, steaks, and pork chops too. The direct/indirect feature makes it very versatile.
We bought this grill about 6 months ago and are happy with it. Previously we owned the most popular competitors brand and discovered immediately the Pit Boss is constructed of heavier metal. Additionally, compared to our old grill, the thermostat on the Pit Boss is considerably more accurate and the grates are easier to remove and clean. We like a clean grill. It also seems to burn fewer pellets to maintain the set temperature and with the hopper holding a full bag of pellets, it's no longer necessary to check the hopper each hour. It was a good purchase. Complaints? A better recipe book!
I love this grill. Anything from traditional open flame cooking to slow and low smoking. I even bake apple pies in it!
It is easy to use for all types of grilling . I have cooked on it at least 4 nights a week for the last month and a half with no disappointments. I tried a 9 lbs brisket last weekend it took about 8 hours, my family said they could not believe how good it was ! I am the Pit Boss
I bought grill 3 weeks ago and have already done ribeyes, babybacks and beer can chicken. All turned out juicy, especially the chicken.
Questions & Answers
Thanks for asking, Lucas! The only difference between the two is that the 700SC comes with an enclosed cabinet, while the 700S does not.
Asked by Lucas | Answered by HunterHi Lucas! The 72700S has an open cabinet while the 72700SC has a closed cabinet. There are no other notable differences.
Asked by Lucas | Answered by KyleGreat question! Pellets usually burn anywhere between 1/2 - 2 lb per hour, depending on the temperature you've set your grill. The temperature outside, as well as wind and humidity will also affect how much needs to be burned in order to maintain the set temperature.

When will my item arrive?
Once shipped, items usually arrive within 3-5 business days. While UPS and FedEx are our carriers for smaller items, be aware that larger items and orders are shipped via freight. The freight process is a bit more complicated than what we've all come to expect for small parcels, so it's important that you're prepared and understand what's required of you well before delivery day.
- Most freight products ship on a pallet
- Some carriers will call to schedule a delivery window, while others will deliver the shipment to a reasonably accessible location closest to your residence (their goal is to deliver as near a garage door as they can).
- We'll specify which process you can expect in your shipping confirmation email.
For carriers that schedule delivery appointments:
Carriers that schedule delivery appointments require you to be home for delivery and provide your signature. The delivery is made with a semi-truck with lift gate services, and the shipment is dropped off at the curb. If you authorize the shipping company to leave the delivery without a signature, BBQGuys can't be held responsible for damages that occur during delivery. As complicated as this process may seem, we've only scratched the surface here — please review our detailed guide to freight delivery so there are no surprises when a freight shipment heads your way.
For carriers that deliver without an appointment:
Carriers that deliver without an appointment don't require you to be home or set up a delivery window, and you aren't required to sign for the pallet(s). Instead of scheduling an appointment, arranging your schedule to be home for the delivery, and signing to confirm receipt, you can sit back and let your items come to you. If you're home at the time of the drop-off, you can request the driver place your delivery in the garage; if you're out of the house, the driver will leave it near the garage or doorstep.
