Have had my Baron with cast iron griddles for 2 seasons now, I routinely and carefully clean + re-season them, always keep the grill covered, and have lots of experience with cast iron. To my shock, they have basically continued to rust away. I have put so much elbow grease into removing all the surface rust, painstakingly re-seasoning them, only for them to rust again after even mild use. A very arduous and time-consuming process. No amount of babying these griddles seems to prevent this, and I suspect the cast iron used is of inferior quality. Unfortunately the workload required to keep these griddles even just useable (let alone in great shape) is daunting. Which is a shame, considering the rest of the grill is superb and not at all on the cheap-end for its size. It is really too bad that there doesn't seem to be a stainless steel thick-bar griddle for the Baron series as there is for other models; you are stuck either using the rusty cast-iron, or the thin wispy old style of coat-hanger style bars. I can't even seem to source replacement cast-iron grates for a reasonable price, sadly.
These grids are rusting away regardless of what you do to maintain them. I seasoned them a few times, cleaned them constantly, and did everything instructed, but it appears I am not alone in these falling apart. You would think with almost 100% of the reviews of this item Poor, that Broil King would source another manufacturer. The rest of the grill is good to go, these no bueno

Turns to rust, fast! Use the Stainless steel grids. Very expensive to replace.
No need for pictures as this seems to be a common theme here. I am very disappointed in these grills. All previous comments here are 100% accurate, I'm not sure < if I want to reinvest in these grills are they are very expensive and very poor quality. Also took very good care of them seasoning with oil.

I've oiled and seasoned the grids regularly, but the rust is so bad after 3 seasons that there are large chunks breaking of the surface of the grids. Doesn't seem like a safe grilling surface anymore. I hope there is a better option for a replacement grid.
This grill is about 2.5 yrs old and the grill grates are all rusted. I can't find replacements anywhere in store and quite pricey. We take good care of our grill, keep it covered etc. Love the grill but the grates are pretty poor quality! Hope to hear from someone!
Love my Baron grill but the Cast Iron Grids do not live up the BroilKing Quality. Regularly season the grids in the method on the BroilKing website and after a only a couple years they are rusting away. Disappointed as a name like BroilKing should have better quality grids to match the quality of the grill. Hope someone from BroilKing can reach out to me.

Grates are rusted and falling apart. Grill is unusable after only 1 year.
I season these twice a year. I really give them a extra good scraping and seasoning in the spring in time for the busy bbq season. Like numerous other reviewers they just don't last. Replacement is expensive but I like the bbq just not the grates. Stainless rod will be better but they are expensive.

When will my item arrive?
Once shipped, items usually arrive within 3-5 business days. While UPS and FedEx are our carriers for smaller items, be aware that larger items and orders are shipped via freight. The freight process is a bit more complicated than what we've all come to expect for small parcels, so it's important that you're prepared and understand what's required of you well before delivery day.
- Most freight products ship on a pallet
- Some carriers will call to schedule a delivery window, while others will deliver the shipment to a reasonably accessible location closest to your residence (their goal is to deliver as near a garage door as they can).
- We'll specify which process you can expect in your shipping confirmation email.
For carriers that schedule delivery appointments:
Carriers that schedule delivery appointments require you to be home for delivery and provide your signature. The delivery is made with a semi-truck with lift gate services, and the shipment is dropped off at the curb. If you authorize the shipping company to leave the delivery without a signature, BBQGuys can't be held responsible for damages that occur during delivery. As complicated as this process may seem, we've only scratched the surface here — please review our detailed guide to freight delivery so there are no surprises when a freight shipment heads your way.
For carriers that deliver without an appointment:
Carriers that deliver without an appointment don't require you to be home or set up a delivery window, and you aren't required to sign for the pallet(s). Instead of scheduling an appointment, arranging your schedule to be home for the delivery, and signing to confirm receipt, you can sit back and let your items come to you. If you're home at the time of the drop-off, you can request the driver place your delivery in the garage; if you're out of the house, the driver will leave it near the garage or doorstep.
