We are having a very difficult time using this oven. It was a Father's Day gift for my husband and he is very disappointed with it. I believe the propane fuel source would have been a better choice for us to easier control heat and flame.
Great concept! DEFINITELY needs some upgrades, though. -- Needs a small fan near air intake. -- THE FLAME deflection blade keeps falling off. What the heck. Who came up with that horrible design? You can't replace it when the oven is hot. -- The hopper -- why is it even there? Too many pellets & it suffocates the fire. -- The manual is very ambiguous in regard to how many pellets to use. They say "small amounts and often." BUT then they way that "when the hopper is full, it'll burn for 15 minutes." BUT if you fill up the hopper, it smothers the flame. So, what is it? Very confusing. All published Ooni videos don't show the clear-cut amount or technique of using the pellets. GREAT concept, and maybe a few years down the road this primitive thing will be more functional. Until then, can't really recommend. NOTE: I'm a scientist and a chef. I have used this Fyra Ooni over 10 times with various pizza dough recipes, toppings, etc. So, I do have experience.
We first heard about Darina and Kristian's ooni pizza oven when we listen to their story on Guy Ruz' podcast 'How I build this'. We got intrigued by the way how they described their challenges to build the first prototype and then scale up the business as well as the engineering behind it. I told a friend of mine about the oven and he researched it and bought it while I was still hesitant. He invited us over for pizza and we all agreed that this oven delivers a real authentic neapolitanian pizza. I bought my Ooni the next day and we are using it now to invite guests over for pizza parties. We love the pizza the Ooni oven makes. Thanks Darina and Kristian for filling a market gap and we will never go back to frozen pizza.
Didn't know what to expect as growing up with Pizza and great pizza makers in my life it was hard to compare. My first time has been disastrous. My dough stuck to my padella and then finally able to put it on the stone. the pizza took longer than advertised and I had to scrape and tear it from the stone. What was actually cooked was delicious. The pellets that were recommended definitely were accurate to use. Scent and flavour amazing. The gooey part was thrown away. I have watched You Tube videos and hopefully my next attempt will be more successful. Not sure what happened this first time.
Cooks great pizza. A small learning curve on the dough technique and the launch but 5-6 pizzas in and they are perfect.
We were so excited to finally get this, however we were ultimately disappointed with just about everything about it. After almost a month of use there is still a very strong odor of burning paint / plastic that we can't figure out. Flames will shoot out of the hopper and the back of the oven that will burn you badly, pizza never, EVER slides off the peel properly (despite purchasing the OONI peel, using the right kind of flour, and practicing). We finally just gave up and are throwing this thing out and going back to frozen pizza in our conventional oven. Less stress and hassle.
Unfortunately my pizza made with the Ooni Fyra 12 Wood Pellet Pizza Oven was barely edible. It was my first time making pizza from scratch, so I expect that factored into the outcome, but the oven was far from easy to use. The pizza stuck to the stone and cheese dripped and burned everywhere, creating a essentially a blob of dough, cheese and sauce. It was also a mess to clean up at the end, with black soot all over the oven pieces. Being a less experienced cook, I expected a challenge, but this was a struggle. My wood-fired pizza might improve with practice, but not sure if it's worth it - a lot of work and little reward.
The oven is great AND it takes awhile to get the hang of cooking at this temperature. I'm an experienced cook but I've had some epic fails while learning. Getting better each time. There's a learning curve!

When will my item arrive?
Once shipped, items usually arrive within 3-5 business days. While UPS and FedEx are our carriers for smaller items, be aware that larger items and orders are shipped via freight. The freight process is a bit more complicated than what we've all come to expect for small parcels, so it's important that you're prepared and understand what's required of you well before delivery day.
- Most freight products ship on a pallet
- Some carriers will call to schedule a delivery window, while others will deliver the shipment to a reasonably accessible location closest to your residence (their goal is to deliver as near a garage door as they can).
- We'll specify which process you can expect in your shipping confirmation email.
For carriers that schedule delivery appointments:
Carriers that schedule delivery appointments require you to be home for delivery and provide your signature. The delivery is made with a semi-truck with lift gate services, and the shipment is dropped off at the curb. If you authorize the shipping company to leave the delivery without a signature, BBQGuys can't be held responsible for damages that occur during delivery. As complicated as this process may seem, we've only scratched the surface here — please review our detailed guide to freight delivery so there are no surprises when a freight shipment heads your way.
For carriers that deliver without an appointment:
Carriers that deliver without an appointment don't require you to be home or set up a delivery window, and you aren't required to sign for the pallet(s). Instead of scheduling an appointment, arranging your schedule to be home for the delivery, and signing to confirm receipt, you can sit back and let your items come to you. If you're home at the time of the drop-off, you can request the driver place your delivery in the garage; if you're out of the house, the driver will leave it near the garage or doorstep.
