The XR-50 Remote BBQ & Smoker Thermometer is a great addition to the XR series, maintaining and optimizing the capabilities of the thermometer. Alerts for the portable receiver can reach distances up to 500 feet away, making it the longest range on the market for thermometers. The probes are rated for 716 degrees F (380 degrees C), water-resistant, and comes with four (4) total meat probes. The user can set the alarms to HIGH or LOW for different situations during the cooking process. The INSTA-SYNC user interface makes both the thermometer and the portable receiver very user friendly, so the cook can focus on entertaining their guests and not have to worry about messing with the thermometer. The LCD has a backlight that shows all the information for each probe individually. For this XR model, the connection speed is faster and has reduced connection drops, along with better data packet transmission. The mounting options for both devices are a stand, clip for hanging, and a magnet on the back of the device.

I purchased this and have not had any problems. I tested it with a manual thermometer and it was spot on. I have cooked several things using this thermometer and have been happy with the results. The last cook was 14 1/2 hours and it did what it was supposed to do. I would recommend it.

I bought this less than 18 months ago. It was awesome until last weekend, when they would not sync. I've used it about 8 or 10 times. The base unit works, but it does not communicate with the receiver any more. I tried manually synching both units as well as new batteries. I was told to exchange it if under warranty, but it is not. I selected "No. I would not recommend to a friend", but in reality, I probably just got a bad one. I am still irritated right now though.

So disappointed. The maverick bas units seem fine. The probes are absolutely terrible which makes the unit unusable. First order. 4 probes matched against two digital stick thermometers reading 70 degrees. 4. Probes measured 68 to over 300 degrees. The unit was worthless. Asked for a replacement. Kudos BBQ GUYS sent us a new set. Same story, 1 probe ok, three more of by 10-70 degrees. Not sure what to do. Probably request a full refund. Reality, have used It till and Weber. All inaccurate after 1-2 cooks by more than 10 degrees making a grill to 130 degrees impossible. The whole technology sucks.

Hi, PhiAE01. The Maverick units transmit with each other. One unit will remain at the appliance, the other unit can be carried to another location.

Asked by Nick | Answered by NickThis does use Bluetooth but it does not have an app. It has the sending unit with the probes and a receiving unit that has a pretty good range. I liked the units but the probes get out accuracy within a couple of months and there is no way to calibrate. The can be off by up to 25 degrees! Within six months none of the probes were accurate, I asked for new probes and they sent a whole new set. I only needed the probes, same story, probes went bad, they sent me a new set. I gave up had three sets of base units and no accurate probes. Not worth the money, hassle or the time. I find probes to be an issue with almost any probe cable. The most accurate are stick probes but they are not remote sensing. Do Not Recommend.

Once shipped, items usually arrive within 3-5 business days. While UPS and FedEx are our carriers for smaller items, be aware that larger items and orders are shipped via freight. If you're home at the time of the drop-off, you can request the driver place your delivery in the garage; if you're out of the house, the driver will leave it near the garage or doorstep.
