Efficient Pellet Consumption
When you turn on the grill, the auger begins to feed pellets into the firepot while the draft induction fan feeds air into it. The igniter rod is activated and glows red hot for the first four minutes to ignite the pellets in the firepot. These cost-effective pellets burn at a rate of only 2 lbs. per hour on high heat, 1 lb. per hour on medium heat, and only 1/2 lb. per hour when smoking. The Pro series also adds a clean out to the hopper, allowing you to quickly change the smoke flavor of the pellets while grilling.
Additional Features
- This energy efficient grill runs off a standard 110-volt outlet
- Large capacity pellet hopper, holding up to 20 pounds of Traeger hardwood pellets. A hopper clean-out door lets you quickly empty contents for cleaning and swapping out flavors.
- Concealed grease pan that slides out for easy cleanup
- Super Smoke Mode lets you amp up the flavor with the push of a button
- The Ironwood 650 has a keep warm mode so you can eat when you are ready to, not when the food is ready.

Customer Reviews
So glad I got the Traeger Iron 885. Plenty of cooking space, wifi is absolutely cool. Everything I have cooked on it has been wonderful. I love the options of variable temperature controlling. The construction is obviously meant to last. I believe I have found my dream grill.

New pit boss was a major disappointment so returned it for a Traeger and I can't think of anything I'd reasonably complain about. Exceeded my expectations and it's in good shape after being used four times, and a couple of those being high heat cookings. Can get up to 495 in warm spring weather
First smoker I have ever had, very easy to learn & use. My brother has a Traeger, we cooked on it & I was hooked!! There are several other brands & most are very good but Traeger is the best.
I've had my Traeger for several years - not necessarily this exact model - but similar. It is the worst. All I want to do is add pellets, heat up the grill and use Wifi to help monitor. Wifi monitor - is a NO GO. Very technical person but the app is marginally useful. If the grill runs out of pellet while cooking - scrap the plans for the evening. It seems that the grill has to shutdown. Have to clean the auger - power off about half dozen times to reset the grill - and then maybe - just maybe the grill will re-ignite to the desired temp.

It's easy to put together. I did it by myself just like I did my Pro 15yrs ago. My husband had to pick it up, that's all. 😁

Had it about a month now. Great temp control and holds temp at the set point. I don't see the double wall construction but I guess it's there. Huge cooking surface and wonderful, smokey flavors.

Grill and smoke meat
Start up is long, multiple times have to actually unplug the unit to restart. This is my 2nd Traeger and will be my last, poor imported quality as the back section is peeling after 1-1/2 years of usage. Will be going with a Yoder for my next purchase.

Recently bought the 650. Was able to use it a couple times. Really liked how things were working, but then the power brick went out right before my third time cooking. But one major thing I found after looking at the power brick is that it specifically says indoor use only on the side of the power brick in the fine details. So I'm concerned how long this grill will last before I keep having to replace power bricks since I bought the grill to solely be used outdoors like it should be. I have a covered porch and a cover for the Traeger but not sure if this will be enough to protect the electronics during cold winter months since I don't have a garage. I also noticed in the owners manual that low ambient temperatures can cause issues for the display and controller. Not that I would operate the grill in negative temperatures but sounds like just being exposed to such temperatures can cause problems. Worried about costs adding up in the future pertaining to the electronics. Maybe someone from Traeger who has experience with these grills in cold weather can ease my mind on my purchase or provide some advice?

When will my item arrive?
Once shipped, items usually arrive within 3-5 business days. While UPS and FedEx are our carriers for smaller items, be aware that larger items and orders are shipped via freight. The freight process is a bit more complicated than what we've all come to expect for small parcels, so it's important that you're prepared and understand what's required of you well before delivery day.
- Most freight products ship on a pallet
- Some carriers will call to schedule a delivery window, while others will deliver the shipment to a reasonably accessible location closest to your residence (their goal is to deliver as near a garage door as they can).
- We'll specify which process you can expect in your shipping confirmation email.
For carriers that schedule delivery appointments:
Carriers that schedule delivery appointments require you to be home for delivery and provide your signature. The delivery is made with a semi-truck with lift gate services, and the shipment is dropped off at the curb. If you authorize the shipping company to leave the delivery without a signature, BBQGuys can't be held responsible for damages that occur during delivery. As complicated as this process may seem, we've only scratched the surface here — please review our detailed guide to freight delivery so there are no surprises when a freight shipment heads your way.
For carriers that deliver without an appointment:
Carriers that deliver without an appointment don't require you to be home or set up a delivery window, and you aren't required to sign for the pallet(s). Instead of scheduling an appointment, arranging your schedule to be home for the delivery, and signing to confirm receipt, you can sit back and let your items come to you. If you're home at the time of the drop-off, you can request the driver place your delivery in the garage; if you're out of the house, the driver will leave it near the garage or doorstep.
