The Timberline 850 makes grilling and cooking easy to do with consistently delicious results. It smokes meat much better than some critics would have you believe (I say that comparing it to my Big Green Egg). Temperatures are easy to adjust and once you set a temperature, the Traeger does a great job of maintaining the desired temperature even in 20-degree weather. Technology: The WiFi feature works flawlessly. If you have a solid home WiFi network (no interference or distance issues) then you will absolutely love the ability to control your cook from your phone. Durability: I regularly clean the outside of my grill and keep an eye on the fire pot although it hasn't ever needed cleaning (despite the reminder message I'm greeted with every time I start the Traeger--it's a standard message you'll see when the system is booting up). The very back metal plate of the grill showed signs of paint peeling, but that's my fault--I had the unit too close to my brick wall at 500 degrees for many hours. A light sanding and some flat black paint took care of that little mistake. Customer Service: I had an initial warranty claim (interior metal shield was warped upon delivery) and Traeger got me a replacement in two days without issue. The rep was very knowledgable and did a good job handling the issue. While I do like my Egg for some types of cooking, I use my Timberline 850 more often. There is no doubt that if I had to choose one grill it would be a Traeger. I easily get 85-90% of the quality results of the Egg 100% of the time--and all I have to do is push a button. This is my second Traeger in 10 years and I highly recommend it.

I purchased the 850 2 years ago and it's been a love hate relationship. After a month the control board had to be replaced because the thermostat wasn't working properly. The drip pan overtime becomes warped and I think this is the cause of improper grease drip removal which causes fires. The final straw happened about a month ago when the bolt (there are only 2 that hold the entire lid) snapped and despite multiple attempts to remove the broken bolt half that remains in the Traeger I am left with a lid that only is hanging in by one bolt. I'm dumping the Traeger and replacing with another smoker. The build quality at this price point is subpar. I find this issue to be a design fault. There should be a bracket along the back of the lid to carry this type of weight.

Just bought the 850. Excellent first brisket using the Wi-Fi probe. Great instructions no problem with wi-fire setup

Two years from purchase. I would not purchase again. Cons-horrible way to remove pellets from bin that requires scooping or else pellets fall everywhere; back exterior rack holder is fine, but cover snags on it when donning/doffing; moving grill even a few feet can cause grease bucket to fall off; add-on front table not deep enough; cover way too tight; electric plug is hard to plug into unit-underneath and requires direct visualization Pro-cooks fine

Our outdoor kitchen/bar "The Roost" in the Florida Keys would not be complete without our Traeger Timberline 1300. We have cooked numerous recipes from the Traeger app to our own. The flavor of each meal is outstanding. Our recipes range from Deviled Eggs to a whole 50 lb. pig, with smoked bacon being one of the go to . Family and friends always rave of the flavor the smoker give the meal.

Outstanding after 6 years. It's still cooking like it was new.

I have had the timberline 850 for two years now and sad to say it just ok as I love to cook, especially grilling and had much higher hopes for this grill. My single biggest issue is keeping it clean. Anyone that knows anything about grilling knows it all starts with a clean grill and this grill is ridulously tedious to clean. The way its designed there are so many nooks and crannies that either pellet dust, grease, or both get in places you would never expect and clean up takes forever. I have had several weber grills over the years and the primary concern there is keeping the grates clean but with the Timberline 850 its way more than keeping grates clean. I spend two hours cleaning it for every 6-8 hours of cooking. I keep my grill in the garage when its not being used to keep it protected and have learned how critical it is to make sure its perfectly level because even if its just off slightly in a way the reduces the juice and grease flow the clean up is even more difficult and time consuming. The drip pan covers need to be installed perfectly or they too will restrict the grease flow and create additional clean up issues. It just seems to be a poor design for a high end grill. I have a shop vac dedicated to cleaning this grill and even with that to clean it right you have to remove quite a few screws to remove interior covers to adequately g clean the nooks and crannies. The best feature is that is great a holding a temperature and contolling it with the wi-fire app is very convenient. Even so, I find myself using my old charcoal weber grill more and more simply becuase I dont want have to deal with the clean up of theTraeger. I pretty much only use the Traeger when I am cooking a large amount of food for 6 people or more to justify the cleaning of the grill. I guess I am not the only one that feels this way as the clean up issue seems to have been addressed with the newer models. If you are consideing buying a Treager, I strongly suggest you look at the new model with the EZ clean pot to avoid a situation like mine where you spend alot of money on a grill that is only used selectivelydue due to the hassle of cleaning it.

Great smoker but bad tech. Smoker works great but wifi function just doesn't work. After five phone calls with help desk it still won't work. Traeger keeps saying it won't work on a 5g network and that my house may have a 5g network. My house does not have a 5g network. The temperature probe also came broken. So far I have made a brisket, ribs, tomahawks, whole chickens and all turned out great. It's a shame the wifi / app tech doesn't work given I paid for it.

I understand that mild warping is to be expected but that has not been my experience, it's warped enough twice that both times the grease has gone into the bottom of the grill and caused severe fire and has resulted in a lot of damage to the paint not to mention the wasted food. I paid good money for this grill that I'm scared to use, I wish you would consider trading it out for a lesser model with the better design, that would be true good customer service. Thank you Brian

When will my item arrive?
Once shipped, items usually arrive within 3-5 business days. While UPS and FedEx are our carriers for smaller items, be aware that larger items and orders are shipped via freight. The freight process is a bit more complicated than what we've all come to expect for small parcels, so it's important that you're prepared and understand what's required of you well before delivery day.
- Most freight products ship on a pallet
- Some carriers will call to schedule a delivery window, while others will deliver the shipment to a reasonably accessible location closest to your residence (their goal is to deliver as near a garage door as they can).
- We'll specify which process you can expect in your shipping confirmation email.
For carriers that schedule delivery appointments:
Carriers that schedule delivery appointments require you to be home for delivery and provide your signature. The delivery is made with a semi-truck with lift gate services, and the shipment is dropped off at the curb. If you authorize the shipping company to leave the delivery without a signature, BBQGuys can't be held responsible for damages that occur during delivery. As complicated as this process may seem, we've only scratched the surface here — please review our detailed guide to freight delivery so there are no surprises when a freight shipment heads your way.
For carriers that deliver without an appointment:
Carriers that deliver without an appointment don't require you to be home or set up a delivery window, and you aren't required to sign for the pallet(s). Instead of scheduling an appointment, arranging your schedule to be home for the delivery, and signing to confirm receipt, you can sit back and let your items come to you. If you're home at the time of the drop-off, you can request the driver place your delivery in the garage; if you're out of the house, the driver will leave it near the garage or doorstep.
