I have had multiple friends recommend Traegers to me. I had a gas line installed to the rear of my home to eventually purchase a gas grill, but after having tasted food out of a slow smoked Traeger, I pull the trigger and bought their top of the line Timberline product. I cooked 3 times, and then on the 4th, when I had a group of people over one weekend, the grill did not start. Customer service ran me through a series of tests and I had to pull out wires, unscrew things, do some trial and error testing....and the whole time I am thinking...Why am I doing this and not a person from Traeger? Why did their product fail within 4 uses? I figured maybe I just got a 'bad' one, but then my neighbor, who was one of the friends who recommended the Traeger to me, purchased a new one and his failed to start as well. By quality standards, this is unacceptable. It is also unacceptable to make a customer disassemble their grill to troubleshoot it when they have owned the product for a month (not a cheap product at that). For that price, and that short amount of time, immediately send a tech out to see whats wrong so that the customer isn't lying on their back on concrete, plugging and unplugging wires for an hour. After they had 'identified' the issue, they sent me the part, which they did not expedite the shipping on. The part arrived, I went to fix it, and the grill turned on. I used it a couple more times and then it failed again. This time, I tried the same steps they put me through to no avail. I have sent them an email asking to either send a tech to fix it once and for all, or come haul it off and refund the money. If you are looking to spend this kind of cash on a Traeger, I would wait until they get their quality issues fixed. Good luck!

Great couple of first runs of fish, scallops and chicken.
Assembly went well but you need a lot of space to do it efficiently (ordered online and had it delivered very slow shipping) very well built much heavier than the 22"? model I'm replacing. Could not get the WiFire to sync it does not like the 5G wireless signal. I'll try again when I get a chance. The 3 piece grilling tool set was very hefty but would not fit the hangers on the grill disappointed in that. Went through the seasoning process and never saw the temp over /- 5 degrees from th3 set temp. Very nice. I'll update this review after I've had a chance to use it.

It's all I was expecting and some only issue is I'm still unable to get the firmware to update cannot operate from my phone.
This is my 3rd smoker. Had a Bradley smoker and then a small cabinet smoker both of which were barely average. Decided to get something better. This is great for me the weekend wanna-be pitmaster. Set up is not too bad (was following the instructions when the top flopped open and scratched/dented my brand-new lid!). The remote management software is awesome; I was able to adjust temperature while away from the house (instead of begging the the kids or wife to make an adjustment if needed if I had to leave). I think my favorite option is that it is about the only insulated readily available smoker so I can easily use it year round. If you like to barbecue recreationally this is a great purchase.
I've used Traeger grills for over 12 years but this grill is king! Every little aspect of the grill is unbelievable. The Traeger engineers really did an excellent job. The super smoke and keep warm settings allow for you to create a masterpiece with limited effort. The price is nothing compared to the value and features delivered. I wouldn't buy anything else.
Don't waste your money on the WiFi/app. It stops working all the time (I have gig service on a ruckus WiFi w great signal... not my network). Glitchy. Poor support (literally just hung up... glitched up in middle of me smoking a 12hr butt... they can't get it to reconnect while grilling. Have to shut off or wait). Nothing but frustration with the WiFi part. Wish I could return. Just get the regular smoker... my friend has and has no issuez

By far the best grill we've ever owned! Excellent food!
The fact is Traeger invented pellet smoker/grills. Once their initial patent ran out many other manufacturers sprung up to try to get a piece of the action. Several of them made some improvements more or less forcing Traeger to do likewise. Of the various innovations the convection fan and the insulating double wall are two of the best. I could never get the temperature control and sustained smoke with my old smoker. I gave it away and searched for a replacement. I read and studied for well over two weeks before making my decision to buy the Traeger Timberline 850. It does everything I want and need. It's big enough it has the ability to hold the temperature at a fairly constant -5?F even during cold wind and rain. Plus the Wi-Fi app allows the user to monitor and control it from any remote location if needed or desired. Of course the ability to use one wood or another or a combination of woods simply by filling the hopper is another definite plus. And the temperature and smoke can be held ad infinitum for as many hours or days desired. My first week of use had me making the best pork belly burnt ends I've ever had. Some very good country style ribs and Kansas City style baby backs. Also two cured and smoked skin-on salmon fillets. And a 20 hour melt-in-your-mouth beef brisket that could have won a trophy. The Traeger makes it so much more easy to do. If you buy a tool buy the best one you can afford and it becomes an investment. The Traeger Timberline 850 is the way to go!

I've had my timberline for about a year and a half now. I have been grilling and bbqing for the better part of 2 decades. Most of that time I have cooked on stick burner and charcoal grills. I was a bit skeptical when I first got the traeger but have been nothing short of amazed with the ease of use and excellent taste the food takes on. I live in northern Montana and found the grills temperature limit this past winter -20 F. I put a heater under the grill and was able to get the job done. I have had the opportunity to grill on other pellet smokers (Rec-tec and GMG) and can honestly say they don't even come close. A friend of mine who owns a GMG smoked a brisket over night in fair conditions and used close to 2 20 lb bags of pellets to get it done. I ran my timberline 850 for about 21 hrs straight and used a little over half a bag. I know these are pricey but they are worth their weight in gold for ease of use how well it holds temp within 2 degrees even in the cold and most importantly the taste of the finished product whether smoking grilling or bbqing. My only complaint would be that the grease catching system doesn't work great in extreme cold conditions.

When will my item arrive?
Once shipped, items usually arrive within 3-5 business days. While UPS and FedEx are our carriers for smaller items, be aware that larger items and orders are shipped via freight. The freight process is a bit more complicated than what we've all come to expect for small parcels, so it's important that you're prepared and understand what's required of you well before delivery day.
- Most freight products ship on a pallet
- Some carriers will call to schedule a delivery window, while others will deliver the shipment to a reasonably accessible location closest to your residence (their goal is to deliver as near a garage door as they can).
- We'll specify which process you can expect in your shipping confirmation email.
For carriers that schedule delivery appointments:
Carriers that schedule delivery appointments require you to be home for delivery and provide your signature. The delivery is made with a semi-truck with lift gate services, and the shipment is dropped off at the curb. If you authorize the shipping company to leave the delivery without a signature, BBQGuys can't be held responsible for damages that occur during delivery. As complicated as this process may seem, we've only scratched the surface here — please review our detailed guide to freight delivery so there are no surprises when a freight shipment heads your way.
For carriers that deliver without an appointment:
Carriers that deliver without an appointment don't require you to be home or set up a delivery window, and you aren't required to sign for the pallet(s). Instead of scheduling an appointment, arranging your schedule to be home for the delivery, and signing to confirm receipt, you can sit back and let your items come to you. If you're home at the time of the drop-off, you can request the driver place your delivery in the garage; if you're out of the house, the driver will leave it near the garage or doorstep.
