Ranger: Perfect for On-the-Go Grilling and Smoking
This portable pellet grill is perfect for camping, tailgating, picnics, and boating. This little grill runs off a standard 110-volt outlet. The 184 square inch porcelain coated grilling surface produces excellent sear marks and easily cleans up. The natural airflow inside of the grill allows for convection cooking, so you can bake pizza right on your grill and cook meat at lower temperatures without any flipping. Enjoy breakfast on the go and sear steaks to perfection using the included cast iron griddle. Rubber feet and latches on the hood keep your grill secure during transportation.
Easy to Start
Traeger grills feature an auto-start system that is simple and safe to use. When you turn on the grill, the auger begins to feed pellets into the firepot while the draft induction fan feeds air into it. The igniter rod is activated and glows red hot for the first four minutes to ignite the pellets in the firepot. The 8-pound capacity hopper provides plenty of on-the-go grilling time.
Traeger Ranger FAQ
Can you smoke on the Traeger Ranger?
The Ranger can hold temperatures in the low-and-slow range. The only limitation is its size - the cooking grid is 15 x 12 inches, so larger items may be a bit too large to fit.
Does the Traeger Ranger need electricity?
The Ranger requires a standard 110 volt outlet.
How much can you fit on a Traeger Ranger?
The cooking grid is 15 x 12 inches, which does limit capacity. BBQGuys estimates you can grill 6 burgers at one time.
Can you smoke a brisket on a Traeger Ranger?
Absolutely! The only limitation is size, so you may have a challenge trying to fit a very large brisket in the Ranger. We've seen briskets up to 20 inches in length and 12 inches in width, so you'll probably want to go with a medium-sized brisket. Trimming your brisket may also help it fit.
Can the Traeger Ranger get wet?
It can, but note that if the lid gets wet that will likely cause the internal temperature to drop, which can affect your cook time. We recommend keeping it under cover when not in use.
How big is the Traeger Ranger?
The Ranger is 21 inches wide, 20 inches deep, and 13 inches high. It weighs in at a whopping 60 lbs.

This is such an awesome tailgater grill! We use it all the time when traveling with our Airstream. It fits perfectly in the back of the truck. I would recommend getting the cover because that makes it a lot easier to carry. I can lift it pretty easily but I could see someone struggling with it a bit.

Bought this a 2 week ago and have used 10 of the last 14 days. Tri-Tip, Chicken breast, Country Cut Pork Chops, Ribeye and Salomon, beef skewers, and tonight Hamburgers. Each dish had a great Smokey Grill style taste. We are restricted to no open flame or gas grills due to being currently in an apartment and the Trager Ranger has filled the gap that has been missing. Even though it cost more than other electric grills. No other electric grill can provide the flavor this has in my opinion, and looking towards being able to pair it up with future meals with our electric smoker and now Trager Ranger Grill to provide us the flavor and taste we have been missing by not being able to have an offset at the time being. Only recommendation to Traeger, make it easier to remove the ash next time.

I have been through many electric grills (gas or open flame grills are not permitted in out townhouse community). This was my last hope. Our neighbor had a larger stand alone model. Im assuming its the flavored wood pellets, but I would say its as close to gas as possible. Excellent flavor, good coloring. Very sturdy construction, I have so far made burgers and chicken. Beef and smoking are next. I would highly recommend this grill to friends.

I have purchased 3 Traeger grills, 2 for myself and 1 for my son. If I had to do it again, I would not have purchased the Ranger. I was really excited to get it to use for camping. Had I been able to get the Tailgater in the back of my truck bed with a cover, I would have purchased the Tailgater versus the Ranger. A great concept for a grill, but one that is subpar of the 3 Traegers I have purchased. First, the Ranger can not hold temperature consistant, especially at the low-temperature ranges. Temp swings I've seen are up to 30 degrees. The major issue I have had is the pellets catching fire in the pellet box, the last most recent to the point I had to pick it up and remove it from my deck afraid of catching it on fire. Traeger support sent a new auger motor. I replaced it, and had the same issue. Called support again and they offered to send it to a dealer to repair. Support was very customer-focused to help. I would not agree and demanded either a new replacement because it was under warranty or credit toward the Tailgater, which had worked well for my son. After 5 times of catching on fire the paint in the pellet box was majorly melted. I really did not want another Ranger. They elected to send a new one so settling for that for now. Stay tuned. If this replacement starts doing the same thing, I will be demanding a replacement. If not, I'm throwing the Ranger in the trash.

Perfect size for family of four. Grill is built well. I'm very happy with purchase. Grills a great, juicy burger.

Purchased the Ranger about a year ago and it has been a huge disappointment. Rarely does it stabilize temperature and I constantly have to restart it because it overheats. For example, today I cooked pork belly at 275 degrees. The temperature ranged from 250 to 425 and after 3 hours it overheated. Unfortunately this is not an isolated occurrence and I deal with these issues every time I cook. Do not waste your time or money on this product.

Cons: first one broke on burn in cycle with broken auger; temperature probe is too large for the grilling area; temp control is not very good; cooking area is less than competition; no wifi/bluetooth; rubber feet fall off easily and need some adhesive Pros: excellent customer service from both Traeger and BBQGuys; grill was replaced promptly; cooking area is just right for 2-3 people and will hold a rack of St. Louis cut spare ribs or baby backs; just tall enough for a whole chicken; easy to clean; good design but motor/auger pin not replaceable so consider extended warranty of some type; excellent size/shape for packing/storage when on the road or when stored in garage; dead simple controls Despite its limitations I give it 5 stars because it is excellent as a truly portable grill that is easy to store, pack, clean, and transport. I bought it over the GMG Davy Crocket for those reasons and so far I am quite happy with it. I have used full size Traeger pellet grills, infrared grills, gas grills, Weber charcoal grills, and I have a Big Green Egg. The Traeger Ranger is so easy I prefer to use it when cooking for two. The only things it can't do are cooking for large groups due to small size or cook at temps >450F. I have cooked baby back ribs, spare ribs, pork loin, chicken legs, chicken thighs, ribeyes, NY strips, chuck eye steaks, Detroit style pizza, and brats so far - all with excellent results. It takes about 20 minutes to stabilize temps initially. Compared to full size Traeger, it restabilizes temp quicker after opening it in cold weather, probably because it is smaller. It is so much better than using a little charcoal Smoky Joe or a propane camping grill. I have not done the math, but it is probably cheaper for pellets than for charcoal or propane for small grills. I just picked up 40 lbs of pellets for $23. That is at least competitive with other fuels, cleaner than charcoal, more functional than 1-lb propane containers, and the pellets have good flavor.

When will my item arrive?
Once shipped, items usually arrive within 3-5 business days. While UPS and FedEx are our carriers for smaller items, be aware that larger items and orders are shipped via freight. The freight process is a bit more complicated than what we've all come to expect for small parcels, so it's important that you're prepared and understand what's required of you well before delivery day.
- Most freight products ship on a pallet
- Some carriers will call to schedule a delivery window, while others will deliver the shipment to a reasonably accessible location closest to your residence (their goal is to deliver as near a garage door as they can).
- We'll specify which process you can expect in your shipping confirmation email.
For carriers that schedule delivery appointments:
Carriers that schedule delivery appointments require you to be home for delivery and provide your signature. The delivery is made with a semi-truck with lift gate services, and the shipment is dropped off at the curb. If you authorize the shipping company to leave the delivery without a signature, BBQGuys can't be held responsible for damages that occur during delivery. As complicated as this process may seem, we've only scratched the surface here — please review our detailed guide to freight delivery so there are no surprises when a freight shipment heads your way.
For carriers that deliver without an appointment:
Carriers that deliver without an appointment don't require you to be home or set up a delivery window, and you aren't required to sign for the pallet(s). Instead of scheduling an appointment, arranging your schedule to be home for the delivery, and signing to confirm receipt, you can sit back and let your items come to you. If you're home at the time of the drop-off, you can request the driver place your delivery in the garage; if you're out of the house, the driver will leave it near the garage or doorstep.
