Ranger: Perfect for On-the-Go Grilling and Smoking

This portable pellet grill is perfect for camping, tailgating, picnics, and boating. This little grill runs off a standard 110-volt outlet. The 184 square inch porcelain coated grilling surface produces excellent sear marks and easily cleans up. The natural airflow inside of the grill allows for convection cooking, so you can bake pizza right on your grill and cook meat at lower temperatures without any flipping. Enjoy breakfast on the go and sear steaks to perfection using the included cast iron griddle. Rubber feet and latches on the hood keep your grill secure during transportation.

Easy to Start

Traeger grills feature an auto-start system that is simple and safe to use. When you turn on the grill, the auger begins to feed pellets into the firepot while the draft induction fan feeds air into it. The igniter rod is activated and glows red hot for the first four minutes to ignite the pellets in the firepot. The 8-pound capacity hopper provides plenty of on-the-go grilling time.

Traeger Ranger FAQ

Can you smoke on the Traeger Ranger?

The Ranger can hold temperatures in the low-and-slow range. The only limitation is its size - the cooking grid is 15 x 12 inches, so larger items may be a bit too large to fit.

Does the Traeger Ranger need electricity?

The Ranger requires a standard 110 volt outlet.

How much can you fit on a Traeger Ranger?

The cooking grid is 15 x 12 inches, which does limit capacity. BBQGuys estimates you can grill 6 burgers at one time.

Can you smoke a brisket on a Traeger Ranger?

Absolutely! The only limitation is size, so you may have a challenge trying to fit a very large brisket in the Ranger. We've seen briskets up to 20 inches in length and 12 inches in width, so you'll probably want to go with a medium-sized brisket. Trimming your brisket may also help it fit.

Can the Traeger Ranger get wet?

It can, but note that if the lid gets wet that will likely cause the internal temperature to drop, which can affect your cook time. We recommend keeping it under cover when not in use.

How big is the Traeger Ranger?

The Ranger is 21 inches wide, 20 inches deep, and 13 inches high. It weighs in at a whopping 60 lbs.

The Best Portable Grill

A Weber guy my entire life, I was always aware of Treager Smokers. When we got our LTV UMB, we bought ourselves a Ranger. We've been out a number of times, and we LOVE our Ranger. Great smoke, ultra compact (60 lbs. though),so easy to use, so easy to and clean up when you're done. Steaks, brisket, chicken, veggies; we are enjoying them all.

Decent Grill, but there are some design flaws

So I will start off by saying I won this grill, it is a bit more expensive than I would want to pay for a portable grill. The grill does a decent job and the included griddle is a nice addition. With that being said, there is one major design flaw: This PORTABLE grill does not have any handles to carry it. When I reached out to traeger, about this they basically stated their engineering and design department is superior to everyone else, which Beggs the question If you really are superior at design and engineering, how can you design a 60 pound portable grill without handles to carry it?

This is true engineering and design

Insufferable

I've owned this grill for two years now. The first use went great. Second use I get Ler. The low temp error. It has done this since owning it. I read that it can be finicky but get this.. the only way I can cook on this thing is to manually feed the fire pot, The temp will rise well beyond my setting of 250 then slowly trickle back to nothing. Wash, rinse, repeat. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone. I wouldn't even sell it, my conscience couldn't carry that around.

My First Traeger - Small and Mighty

Was a gift and out of the gate, I have learned to love this grill. Portable, small in stature but large in capability. For a family of four, there hasn't been really anything that we've not been able to cook. But with all things there could be some improvements. First, for the love of the BBQ gods can we put handles on this thing. It is a heavy grill to be considered portable and handles, while increasing the footprint, would be a nice addition. This was an obvious one that the designers left off. Second, the latches. The latch opposite the pellet box/fire box gets extremely hot and I have taken skin off inadvertently touch that thing. You will need gloves if you cook steak or burgers or something that preheats to 450. So far those are the only two flaws I've found with this grill. It cleans easily especially if you get the foil liners specifically made for the grease bucket and pan. Probably will graduate to a larger grill at some point but sitting this on a heavy duty cart so far has been all I've needed. Great job Traeger. Can't wait to see if you take some design cues and come out with the Ranger 2.0.

Traeger fan...for good!

I am a Traeger fan. I bought the 527 for home use and the Scout for RV use. Great product. Temperature on the Scout is dicey but it cooks well for me. I just monitor food temps and all good. Ranger struggles with same regulation but still a good portable pellet grill.

This is the best little Grill ever. I have used it over a year. We take it camping with us all the time. It hasn't failed us yet. If you need a small grill for camping. it is the best. I have even done hamburgers on the grill that are to die for.

When will my item arrive?

Once shipped, items usually arrive within 3-5 business days. While UPS and FedEx are our carriers for smaller items, be aware that larger items and orders are shipped via freight. The freight process is a bit more complicated than what we've all come to expect for small parcels, so it's important that you're prepared and understand what's required of you well before delivery day.

  • Most freight products ship on a pallet
  • Some carriers will call to schedule a delivery window, while others will deliver the shipment to a reasonably accessible location closest to your residence (their goal is to deliver as near a garage door as they can).
  • We'll specify which process you can expect in your shipping confirmation email.

For carriers that schedule delivery appointments:

Carriers that schedule delivery appointments require you to be home for delivery and provide your signature. The delivery is made with a semi-truck with lift gate services, and the shipment is dropped off at the curb. If you authorize the shipping company to leave the delivery without a signature, BBQGuys can't be held responsible for damages that occur during delivery. As complicated as this process may seem, we've only scratched the surface here — please review our detailed guide to freight delivery so there are no surprises when a freight shipment heads your way.

For carriers that deliver without an appointment:

Carriers that deliver without an appointment don't require you to be home or set up a delivery window, and you aren't required to sign for the pallet(s). Instead of scheduling an appointment, arranging your schedule to be home for the delivery, and signing to confirm receipt, you can sit back and let your items come to you. If you're home at the time of the drop-off, you can request the driver place your delivery in the garage; if you're out of the house, the driver will leave it near the garage or doorstep.
