Taking place of the popular Traeger PTG, the Scout offers an overall improved design and features a Digital Pro Controller and meat probe. is perfect for camping, tailgating, picnics and boating. This little grill runs off of a standard 110 volt outlet. Do not let its size fool you, this grill is made of powder coated steel, and boasts 16,000 BTUs of cooking power. The 184 square inch porcelain coated grilling surface produces excellent sear marks and easy cleanup. The versatility of this pellet grill allows you to smoke at temperatures as low as 165 degrees and then crank it up to 450 degrees to sear to perfection. The natural airflow inside of the grill allows for convection cooking, so you can bake pizza right on your grill and cook meat at lower temperatures without any flipping. Traeger grills feature an auto-start system that is simple and safe to use. When you turn on the grill, the auger begins to feed pellets into the firepot while the draft induction fan feeds air into it. The igniter rod is activated and glows red hot for the first four minutes to ignite the pellets in the firepot. The digital Pro Controller allows for easy temperature control with a low Smoke setting, 25 degree incremental temperature settings and a High setting for grilling. Plug in the included meat probe and monitor food temperatures without even lifting the lid. The 4 pound capacity hopper provides plenty of on-the-go grilling time, burning at a rate of 2 lbs per hour on high heat, 1 lb per hour on medium heat and only 1/2 lb per hour when smoking. Rubber feet and latches on the hood keep your grill secure during transportation.

It's a so so grill

I bought the scout little over a month ago and been using it several times a week. And the smoke setting Onthe grill holds at 300 degrees and the temp settings range from 20 to 30 degrees above the set temp. When I went to cure the grill the first time the temp went to 500 degrees but the max temperature is supposed to be 450 degrees.

1st time use piece of garbage

Got this for a Christmas present. 1st time use followed the break in procedures. Then tremors to cook a steak. I usually reverse seat my steak on my Pro 22, turns out awesome. I tried to smoke very little smoke. Turned it up to sear, the thing ran away smelt like it was going to catch on fire opened it up and flames, smoke coming out of the hopper. Shut it down, let it cool and tried again. Just wanted to get hot enough. So far 40 minutes later and it hasn't even past 325 when it's set at 450 or high. Wanted to eat at 6:30 it's now 8 still not up to temp. Started this process at 5 pm. Had to turn on the 22 in hopes to eat before I die waiting for this thing to heat up. Still hasn't got above 325

Won't hold lower temps

I have had this grill for a couple years, but don't use it as often as I would like because it won't hold the lower temps, especially on 'Smoke'.

Wont hold a temp. Fluctuates 25 to 80 degrees

We have owned this for a few years. used very little. Can not keep temp to hold. I either get meat not cooked properly or over cooked. Cant leave it as it jumps the temp too often. Got a few new suggestions and will try them. If it does not work, come check my garbage can. You will find it stuffed in there. To bad. It could have been a good product.

Overheating, no temp control

Love the flavor and ease but temperature always out of control then shuts off. You have to stand there to cook or it will shut down or over cook .

Disappointed

I bought the Scout a year ago. First time I used it it kept climbing to 500 plus and shutting off. Kept trying different ways but a fan in it to keep it cool on the outside so it wouldn't get so hot. Contacted Traeger got all different things I doing wrong. They sent me a new one. Guess what same problems. Pretty much said it was me. Put away until today march 21, 2020 its doing the same thing it is only 68 outside and it keeps getting hotter. So sad I love my regular size Traeger at home no issues. Going to look for another brand for travel

When will my item arrive?

Once shipped, items usually arrive within 3-5 business days. While UPS and FedEx are our carriers for smaller items, be aware that larger items and orders are shipped via freight. The freight process is a bit more complicated than what we've all come to expect for small parcels, so it's important that you're prepared and understand what's required of you well before delivery day.

  • Most freight products ship on a pallet
  • Some carriers will call to schedule a delivery window, while others will deliver the shipment to a reasonably accessible location closest to your residence (their goal is to deliver as near a garage door as they can).
  • We'll specify which process you can expect in your shipping confirmation email.

For carriers that schedule delivery appointments:

Carriers that schedule delivery appointments require you to be home for delivery and provide your signature. The delivery is made with a semi-truck with lift gate services, and the shipment is dropped off at the curb. If you authorize the shipping company to leave the delivery without a signature, BBQGuys can't be held responsible for damages that occur during delivery. As complicated as this process may seem, we've only scratched the surface here — please review our detailed guide to freight delivery so there are no surprises when a freight shipment heads your way.

For carriers that deliver without an appointment:

Carriers that deliver without an appointment don't require you to be home or set up a delivery window, and you aren't required to sign for the pallet(s). Instead of scheduling an appointment, arranging your schedule to be home for the delivery, and signing to confirm receipt, you can sit back and let your items come to you. If you're home at the time of the drop-off, you can request the driver place your delivery in the garage; if you're out of the house, the driver will leave it near the garage or doorstep.

30-Day Returns

Return all new, unused, and unassembled items in their original packaging, and we'll give you a full refund minus the cost of the original AND return shipping.
