Only for the most serious of grillers, the Traeger XL Pro is the largest residential pellet grill of its kind. Become the king of the barbeque as you cook up to 12 chickens or 16 racks of ribs at once! With a bronze, logo-stamped lid, hopper lid, and smokestack cover, the XL keeps everything good about the original Traeger grills, but adds all the amenities you have come to expect. This grill is constructed of powder coated steel, and boasts an impressive 72,000 BTUs of cooking power. The large 836 square inches of porcelain coated grilling surface produce excellent sear marks, while being easy to clean. The versatility of this pellet grill allows you to smoke at temperatures as low as 180 degrees and then crank it up to 450 degrees to sear to perfection. The natural airflow inside of the grill allows for convection cooking, so you can bake a pizza right on your grill and do not have to turn your meat, unless cooking with high temperatures or if you want even grill marks. Dual meat probes make it easy to monitor internal food temperatures without having to open the lid. Traeger grills feature an auto-start system that is simple and safe to use. When you turn on this monster grill, the augers begin to feed pellets into the dual firepots while the draft induction fans feed air into them. The igniter rod is activated and glows red hot for the first four minutes to ignite the pellets in the firepots. The temperature is controlled by a digital thermostat control which allows you to choose a specific temperature that will be maintained by automatically feeding pellets as needed. These cost-effective pellets burn at a rate of only 2 lbs per hour on high heat, 1 lb per hour on medium heat and only 1/2 lb per hour when smoking. The operating temperature inside your grill is monitored by a resistance temperature detector and is displayed on the bright blue LED panel and grease is managed by the E-Z drain system that funnels your excess liquids directly into one of the two buckets located beneath the grill. This energy efficient grill runs off of a standard 110 volt outlet.

The best grill we have owned. It does costs quite a bit for pellets for each BBQ though

I love my Traeger!

As long as you follow the instructions this smoker works like a champ. I can do so much meat on this. I hope traeger comes out with smoking racks like they have for the smaller models to increase my cooking surface though.

Received a lemon

Caught on fire - pellets loaded up and caught the brand new grill on fire! Thankfully I was standing beside the grill! I had the same grill for 10 years and zero problems, ordered a new of the same one and am having issues. When you call to report it - as I have only had it 30 days, good luck trying to get support.

I've had an XL for at least 10-12 years

My house use to look like Lowe's in the Summer Time I had so many grills. Since getting the Trigger I now have one. An XL. I would like to get the Pig but since I've retired money is tighter. I like my Traeger so much that I gave one to my Cousin and 3 smaller one's to friends. They all love them. The only things I've ever had to do is replaced couple of fire rods and the Temp Probe. This past year the Controller went out so I replaced it with the new style and I've been go to go.

Junk.

This unit is extremely heavy. At first glance and use we were extremely pleased with the purchase. After the first couple of uses it got gradually worse. The legs are made with cheap metal and entirely too small for the size and weight of this specific unit. One of our casters broke within the first month. Common occurrence for the heating rods to fail and the pellets overfill and no smoke or heat is produced. Extremely disappointed for the price paid for this unit. Terrible quality for a mediocre product that only works sometimes.

BEST GRILL I HAVE BOUGHT TO DATE!

I own 4 pellet grills. This grill awesome! I own a BBQ business and purchased this grill to primarily cook large quantities of brisket and pork shoulders. It cooks consistently clean even temps and is a breeze to clean. The front loading hopper design is a thumbs up and also doubles as a shelf for preparation. I am definitely impressed.

Traeger XL

I have had my XL for 3 years and have cooked 3 full pigs (70 lbs) on it. I have made 10 racks of ribs at one time and a to of pork butts. It is a awesome smoker and have never had a problem with it. If you like to cook full pigs or a ton of meat at once this is your smoker...Only thing you guys need to make a cover for the big boy. Traeger Rocks!! Big 'E'

Worth Every Penny!

I learned how to smoke on a traditional off set firebox smoker which was great for the last 10 years. Now that I'm married with kids I don't have the time or patience to feed the fire every 30 min nor to keep it constant. My wife and I naturally started looking at Traegers along with a few other pellet grills. Never thought we would end up with the XL which we appropriately named THE BEAST. Anyhow we have had it now for a little over a month. In that time we have cooked on it just about every single day minus 3 days. We have a modest beef jerky business and THE BEAST kicks butt. Very happy with the purchase and already thinking/dreaming of picking up the double on the trailer. Thank you Traeger! Only complaint would absolutely love it if there were a way to empty out the hopper mid cook to switch pellet flavors. Other than that its perfect!

XL Treager

I purchased my XL Treager Smoker 9 years ago. It hasn't given me any trouble at all. I really like the way it cooks the meats evenly and with a deep smoke flavor. It's easy to use I simply prepare the meat with a tasty rub and turn it on place the meat on and set a timer. I use a stand up type Rib rack for the baby back ribs and 5-6 hours later they are fall of the bone ready. Never dry or greasy and always a favorite of my hungry family. Thanks Treager for adding quality to our lives! Dan

Question:
Hi I was wondering if this can a great first time to start my own business???Was This Helpful?
Answers:

Hi Vicente! A Traeger is a great commercial quality grill and always a wonderful option. With the wide temperature range and large 43-pound hopper capacity, you have so many cooking possibilities. The powder-coated steel exterior is very durable and with 836 square inches of cooking space, you will definitely have enough room. Check out this video of another restaurant that uses Traeger: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=13DJc1PWt90. Give us a call at 877-743-2269 if you have any further questions!

Question:
is it possible to build this into an outdoor kitchen? Was This Helpful?
Answers:

Hi Corbett! While it is possible, we do not recommended because Traeger does not make a built-in version so you would have to modify the grill in order to safely build in.

Question:
Can you do a pig on thereWas This Helpful?
Answers:

Hi Travis. That depends on the size of the pig. The cooking surface measure 44" W X 19" D, with about a foot of vertical space inside.

Question:
The Traeger website says this grill is 57" wide. Your website say 48". Which is correct? Was This Helpful?
Answers:

Hello. Thank you for asking this. We've updated our dimensions to match Traeger's site. 48 inches is the interior width of the grill. The hopper shelf is wider than the grill head, so the exterior width taken from the shelf is 57 inches, but from the grill head it's 52 inches.

Question:
Traeger XL has cooking area 44"x19", 836 square inches, and you give it a burger count of 40. Traeger Timberline 1300 has a cooking area 34"x16",544 square inches, and you give it a burger count of 60. Why does the grill with only 60% of the cooking area seem able to cook half again as many burgers at one time? Was This Helpful?
Answers:

Hey there! The Timberline actually has a 1300 sq. in., 3-tiered, stainless steel cooking grid layout. The main cooking grate is 34 X 16, which is the 544 square inches - the other two grates make up for the other 756 square inches.

Question:
Can you use just half of this grill for a small portionsWas This Helpful?
Answers:

Great question, Bruce! You can use as much of the grill as you please, however, this grill is not like a traditional gas grill with several burners. Traeger grills have one firepot that produces convection heat inside the grill, much like your oven. The heat is monitored and kept consistent by the digital thermostat.

When will my item arrive?

Once shipped, items usually arrive within 3-5 business days. While UPS and FedEx are our carriers for smaller items, be aware that larger items and orders are shipped via freight. The freight process is a bit more complicated than what we've all come to expect for small parcels, so it's important that you're prepared and understand what's required of you well before delivery day.

  • Most freight products ship on a pallet
  • Some carriers will call to schedule a delivery window, while others will deliver the shipment to a reasonably accessible location closest to your residence (their goal is to deliver as near a garage door as they can).
  • We'll specify which process you can expect in your shipping confirmation email.

For carriers that schedule delivery appointments:

Carriers that schedule delivery appointments require you to be home for delivery and provide your signature. The delivery is made with a semi-truck with lift gate services, and the shipment is dropped off at the curb. If you authorize the shipping company to leave the delivery without a signature, BBQGuys can't be held responsible for damages that occur during delivery. As complicated as this process may seem, we've only scratched the surface here — please review our detailed guide to freight delivery so there are no surprises when a freight shipment heads your way.

For carriers that deliver without an appointment:

Carriers that deliver without an appointment don't require you to be home or set up a delivery window, and you aren't required to sign for the pallet(s). Instead of scheduling an appointment, arranging your schedule to be home for the delivery, and signing to confirm receipt, you can sit back and let your items come to you. If you're home at the time of the drop-off, you can request the driver place your delivery in the garage; if you're out of the house, the driver will leave it near the garage or doorstep.
