Use for grilling. Would have given more stars except the design changed from my last Meco Americana grill that I used for at least 10+ years. OLD style design the cooking grid rested on a grove on top of grill bowl and met all our needs. The new design has adjustable grill height handles with the adjusters in bowl where the cooking rack rests. These adjusters in the bowl are flimsy and may become a hazard because the cooking rack can fall into the charcoal and cause injury. I did like that the manufacturer kept the ash pan (very important) to me. Makes cleaning a lot easier that tipping entire bowl over for cleanout.

The Medco charcoal barbecue grill I got is excellent. I'm very pleased with the way it looks and operates

I have owned and enjoyed one of these for 20 years. This is a great product. Easy to use, and forgiving because of the grate adjustment. Easy to clean. Efficient with the fire grate, the fire lasts for hours. The quality of my Made in USA version is top notch. It is sad that they are no longer made here.

I have owned Meco\'s Charcoal Grills for 20+ years and can honestly say they are the best made. Far better than the competion due to the ability to control heat via the strategically placed vents and ability to raise/lower the cooking surface. I\'ve found this particulary helpful when cooking seafood, which I\'ve done a lot of, being a recreational saltwater fisherman (Salmon, Halibut, White Seabass, etc). They are also great for cooking Santa Maria Style BBQ (which is somewhat famous) for the same reason. The ability to control the heat is very important. The vents also close tight enough to put out coals so they can be used for next BBQ. I can make one bag of briquets stretch a long way using this feature. I am disapointed that the Deluxe Smoker Grill II has been discontinued, it had the flip-up tables on both sides, allowing for more work and prep space. The only other drawback I can think of is the cooking area. I wish there was a \"king-size\" version for family get-togethers or any other time when a large amount of food needs cooking. I generally don\'t use gas or electric grills--real fire is the only way, and Meco charcoal grills enable true BBQ\'ing that gets that great smoky flavor into whatever is being cooked.

We don't always want to fire up the big smoker, so this is handy to have right by the kitchen door for a quick steak, fish, chicken, or burger. The best thing about it is that you can adjust the grill level closer or further away from the coals to achieve the perfect grilling temperature.

My husband (the outdoor chef)loves the way the grill can easily be raised and lowered from the outside of the grill. Other grills require touching the hot grids.

It's a great everyday grill. No special treatment needed. Mine sits on my open patio all the time, rain or shine. With the lid down and the vents open the charcoal burns and the food doesn't. Only thing that the old one had that this one doesn't is a second side table. This is my third Meco grill in a row very much like this one. In another half dozen years or more I'll get another one, if they continue being made.

Just be warned that when you go to put the adjustable arms in the bottom of the grill, get it right the first time. We didn't and the hole ended up misshapened and now the arm doesn't sit in the hole correctly, thus rendering the ability to adjust useless. I wish we had been able to buy the grill already assembled.

Don't overload with charcoal, it only needs one layer since the grill plate is adjustable.

I have been using this model for 20 years and I would not change it at all. One burger, four chicken halves, slow smoking a roast, whatever I want to grill, it can handle it. I bought this one for a friend as a gift!!!!!

When will my item arrive?
Once shipped, items usually arrive within 3-5 business days. While UPS and FedEx are our carriers for smaller items, be aware that larger items and orders are shipped via freight. The freight process is a bit more complicated than what we've all come to expect for small parcels, so it's important that you're prepared and understand what's required of you well before delivery day.
- Most freight products ship on a pallet
- Some carriers will call to schedule a delivery window, while others will deliver the shipment to a reasonably accessible location closest to your residence (their goal is to deliver as near a garage door as they can).
- We'll specify which process you can expect in your shipping confirmation email.
For carriers that schedule delivery appointments:
Carriers that schedule delivery appointments require you to be home for delivery and provide your signature. The delivery is made with a semi-truck with lift gate services, and the shipment is dropped off at the curb. If you authorize the shipping company to leave the delivery without a signature, BBQGuys can't be held responsible for damages that occur during delivery. As complicated as this process may seem, we've only scratched the surface here — please review our detailed guide to freight delivery so there are no surprises when a freight shipment heads your way.
For carriers that deliver without an appointment:
Carriers that deliver without an appointment don't require you to be home or set up a delivery window, and you aren't required to sign for the pallet(s). Instead of scheduling an appointment, arranging your schedule to be home for the delivery, and signing to confirm receipt, you can sit back and let your items come to you. If you're home at the time of the drop-off, you can request the driver place your delivery in the garage; if you're out of the house, the driver will leave it near the garage or doorstep.
