Very easy smoker to use

Very easy to use this smoker. I like a lot of smoke flavor so for longer smokes I replenish the smoker box at least one time during the cook. I find this smoker retains the moisture in the smoke box unlike my stick smoker that drys out the surface of the meat, no need to add a water tray. The smoker did shut off during a long overnite brisket smoke but that was the one time I added a water tray below the meat, won't do that again. I also use this smoker to smoke my grilled steaks, gas grill to med rare and then throw them in a pan and put them in the smoker for 15minutes and the results are outstanding. The steaks come out moist as the smoker box retains the moisture in the smoke box and helps the meat stay moist, the steaks may already be cooked but they still take on a brilliant smoke flavor with this cook method.

Long Lasting Fun

Have had the BT 1400 for about 12 yrs. When we get it out the family knows we are having a good bbq! I've had ribs, sausage and brisket cooked in it and it's performed great. I've tried charcoal and wood chips. Personally I like the wood better. I've never had any issues or undercooked meat by following the directions. The cleanup can be a little messy but what would you expect from fatty brisket? Highly recommend for those who don't want to attend to a smoker all night.

Excellent Smoker

I purchased the ST last July and have smoke just about everything you can think of. My favorites are Brisket, Boston Pork Butts, and RIBS mmmm... I have been told by many people over these last few months that my ribs are the best they have ever had. I tailgate and pass them around to people I have just met. Friends and family know when I say \"I\'m smokin ribs today\" they ask if I will have enough for them. I always try to smoke more than I need. One thing that you will need after purchasing the ST is a internal temperature probe. I use a wireless because when doing brisket or pork butt, you will need to monitor for proper temp. Google it for more info.

So far so good.....

I've only used the smoker a couple of times, but the end results have been good. Great flavor with minimal wood consumption. Insulation could be better as a lot of heat can be felt on the walls. A necessary addition, I feel, was the metal stand for the unit. I ordered this a week later and it fits nicely but cost an additional $200.

Gets'er done!

We have used a Smokin Tex for several years and like it for ribs, brisket (untrimmed) and Boston butts. Each cut has it's own cooking methods and these are perfected by starting with those in the instruction book then adding your own experience. We like it well enough to give one to a good friend as a birthday present. Improvements on it would include a pilot light to show when the element is "on". Also, when purchasing a unit you should plan to either purchase the optional rolling cabinet to mount it on or a good set of knee pads as the unit itself is low.

Things We Love:

Easy to Use: Set It and Forget It

If you value simplicity in a smoker, then you have to try the Smokin Tex Pro Series 1400 Electric Smoker. We found it to be among the easiest smokers to use — all you need is a 120-volt power supply, some fuel, and a couple choice cuts of meat just waiting to be smoked! Once your smoking chips are in the wood box and your food is on the racks, all that is required of you is to set the temperature to the desired level and then let this Smokin Tex Pro Series model do its thing. Virtually no maintenance or observation is needed during the cooking process, giving you more time to enjoy the company of friends and family.

The slow-cooking temperature range of this smoker falls between 100 and 250℉, which is perfect for producing fall-of-the-bone results that’ll have everyone’s mouths watering. Thanks to its construction, the Smokin Tex 1400 electric smoker is able to maintain exact temperatures over long periods of time for evenly controlled heat. The result is old-fashioned, low-and-slow cooking in whatever outdoor space can safely accommodate this mobile unit. And with a three-year warranty, you can use the Series 1400 with peace of mind for all the many cookouts to come.

Excellent Construction

The same design that makes this smoker excellent at retaining heat also lends to its durability. Most notable is the double-walled stainless steel cabinet, which provides enhanced insulation for even better heat and smoke retention to create moist food — all while keeping the exterior cool to the touch while in use. There’s also stainless steel used throughout the smoker’s body, including the removable drip pan.

  • Because the three adjustable racks — which are removable and dishwasher-safe — can be placed in five different shelf positions for a maximum capacity of 38 pounds, the Smokin Tex 1400 is great for those who love to experiment with their cooking technique. Did we already say that this smoker comes fully assembled with four caster wheels and a cookbook? Not to mention all the optional accessories available for this unit, like a well-fitting cover, cold smoke plate, and even a specially designed seafood grill. All of this makes for an effortless, fun smoking experience!

Things To Consider:

The smoker’s interior needs to be seasoned before first use. For help with this important step, call one of our BBQ experts at 1-877-743-2269. You should operate this Smokin Tex unit only in dry, covered, and well-ventilated areas. Because of its electrical components, this smoker shouldn’t be allowed to get wet and needs to be protected from rain, snow, and sprinklers. We offer Smokin Tex smoker covers for added protection from the elements.

The unit should also be unplugged and stored inside when not in use. Make sure you adjust the controls to the “OFF” position, unplug, and let the smoker cool before removing or placing any parts. Never leave a hot smoker unattended with the door open, and always be aware of the presence of hot grease when moving the smoker while in use. When using an extension cord, keep in mind that an overly long or light-duty cord will cause the smoker’s heating element to be less efficient.

When will my item arrive?

Once shipped, items usually arrive within 3-5 business days. While UPS and FedEx are our carriers for smaller items, be aware that larger items and orders are shipped via freight. The freight process is a bit more complicated than what we've all come to expect for small parcels, so it's important that you're prepared and understand what's required of you well before delivery day.

  • Most freight products ship on a pallet
  • Some carriers will call to schedule a delivery window, while others will deliver the shipment to a reasonably accessible location closest to your residence (their goal is to deliver as near a garage door as they can).
  • We'll specify which process you can expect in your shipping confirmation email.

For carriers that schedule delivery appointments:

Carriers that schedule delivery appointments require you to be home for delivery and provide your signature. The delivery is made with a semi-truck with lift gate services, and the shipment is dropped off at the curb. If you authorize the shipping company to leave the delivery without a signature, BBQGuys can't be held responsible for damages that occur during delivery. As complicated as this process may seem, we've only scratched the surface here — please review our detailed guide to freight delivery so there are no surprises when a freight shipment heads your way.

For carriers that deliver without an appointment:

Carriers that deliver without an appointment don't require you to be home or set up a delivery window, and you aren't required to sign for the pallet(s). Instead of scheduling an appointment, arranging your schedule to be home for the delivery, and signing to confirm receipt, you can sit back and let your items come to you. If you're home at the time of the drop-off, you can request the driver place your delivery in the garage; if you're out of the house, the driver will leave it near the garage or doorstep.
