The Mont Alpi Black Series brings a sleek, modern aesthetic that fits right in with today's outdoor kitchen trends—though it's noticeably lighter in person than in product photos, with the metal's grain visible up close rather than a true solid black. Instead of a traditional frame, the island is built from all stainless steel cabinetry, and the structural integrity holds up well.
That said, the doors and drawers can feel a bit flimsy, and the rear of the unit doesn't match the polish of the front. The countertop is granite, and while it looks and feels premium, it leans toward a softer stone that's prone to chipping. Out of the box, quality control was solid overall even though the occasional door may need a minor adjustment, but definitely no major cosmetic defects or misaligned panels were noted.

Weather resistance is one area where this island falls a bit short of what I'd hoped for in an outdoor kitchen. The black stainless finish shows every mark and stains fairly easily, requiring careful, consistent upkeep to keep it looking its best. On the plus side, moisture and rain haven't posed any unique problems—it handles exposure about as well as any other outdoor kitchen in that regard, with no drainage or water-trapping concerns.

For prep, you get roughly three feet of usable countertop space, with an option to gain more by using the side burner area when it's not in use. Gas hookups are handled through a clean access port that keeps lines and connections tidy, though it's worth noting the back of the island itself isn't the most attractive angle. Just something to keep in mind for placement and visibility.

Setup was a smooth experience from start to finish. The island arrives well packed on pallets, with no damage or packaging issues upon arrival. Two people can fully assemble and have it ready to cook on in about two hours, a timeframe that includes cleanup and moving pallets out of the way.
