I bought this grill and it's it was a big mistake. I hate it. I'll try to sell it or give it away. They probably won't post this review.

I bought this in Jan 2021, first offset smoker I've ever had or used and I'm 12 briskets in with this bad boy. I have the gaskets and latchs to hold the lid down and whatever temp I want it at, it holds all day. Even in the dead of winter in illinois, just takes a bit longer to heat up. So warp on the firebox, I could care less, it's fire and paint is going to burn away. Keep oil on it and it's been fine. I won first place for my chicken legs in a local comp with this smoker. Next I play on getting casters for it, you should give us an option to buy casters for your smokers. I wheel mine around a lot. But a very excellent smoker!!!

I used this grill for the first time on 05/30. I cooked back ribs and they weren't very good. I'm sorry I bought this grill.. It's hard to maintain temperature and it eats charcoal like a steam engine. I'm going to stick to direct heat for grilling. I feel I get better results. The Judge Charcoal Grill would have been a better choice for me.

Great smoker. Like others who have commented, you must maintain the smoker, I also use peanut oil, and touch up the outside once a season with black grill paint. From the start I was able to set the temp. and walk away for 1/2 hour periods without temp. variations, now I use a ThermoWorks Signals and Control fan which gives me one hour increments of unattended smoking. My grill fits well and highest maintenance is the smoke box due to the heat on the steel, again once a season to keep in top shape. It's an easy learning curve with this smoker, I literally was able to adjust the flue and fire doors within the first hour to know where the sweet spot is, no additional adjustment required. Now if I could only figure out how to get brisket to smoke in half the time. Cheers

I did my research: For the price point the Oklahoma Joe was the best smoker my money could buy. I bought one. The ends of the Smoke Chamber were convex; the face of the Firebox flat. When assembled the Firebox drooped. I spent two weeks working with Char-Broil on the issue to no resolve. I know nothing about the exact engineering and manufacture of the Smoker.. apparently neither does Char-Broil. I returned the Oklahoma Joe and purchased another manufacture's equally fine smoker.

Didnt smoke with it yet but the assembly and burn in went very well. Only thing I wish was designed differently is closer spec on smoke stack and design for securing legs and stack other than a clamp bolt design. I did use the door clamps and OK mod seals. Put the seals around both doors and between 2 halves of firebox and not between firebox and cooking chamber. Needed 2 rolls of seal ti finish but have plenty left over. Did not have any smoke leak between firebox and cook chamber without seals. Still have some leaking around doors with the seals but very minimal! My biggest piece of advice is use charcoal to burn in while following instructions. I did not have any bubbling or peeling anywhere. With chimney in traditional port and baffles out I used 1 chimney full of charcoal in the fire box and 2 in the cook chamber on the charcoal grates spaced out time wise to raise temp slowly and careful not to exceed max temp of 450 so I targeted 400 using dampers. Very happy with smoker! Temps did not swing and were rather steady. When using temp probes the temp guage (the gauge glows in the dark!!!) that came with the smoker was very close to probe reading when probe was placed at the same level.

This is a great cooker and I love it. It didn't take me long to get the hang of using a slow cooker. I thought initially it might be a big deal getting temperatures right but it really has been very easy, except maybe in wind. The build quality overall is big, bold, heavy and old fashioned which is great and exactly what I want. The only issue is the poor fit of the lid on the cooking area. The gaps of 3mm or more cannot be covered with a gasket to seal it. I think it is just laziness in manufacture. I don't expect a precision fit but I think the fit is poor enough to call OJ out on this. I just have to accept that this does compromise performance, especially in wind. I can live with it. I love the cooker but I think OJ can easily remedy this if they choose to.

I love the reverse flow smoking! I have smoked in mine for five times since I bought it a few months ago. The only negative remark is that the coating on the inside started peeling off after the third smoke session and by the fifth time, the coating starting falling off and on to the meat!! I coated the whole smoker after assembling it with a very liberal amount of peanut oil and then seasoned it for 5 hours. Let it cool and reapplied more oil. I have since power washed all the flakes off, degreased, and re-coated the bare metal with more peanut oil and will most likely have to continue this to keep the rust down.

When will my item arrive?
Once shipped, items usually arrive within 3-5 business days. While UPS and FedEx are our carriers for smaller items, be aware that larger items and orders are shipped via freight. The freight process is a bit more complicated than what we've all come to expect for small parcels, so it's important that you're prepared and understand what's required of you well before delivery day.
- Most freight products ship on a pallet
- Some carriers will call to schedule a delivery window, while others will deliver the shipment to a reasonably accessible location closest to your residence (their goal is to deliver as near a garage door as they can).
- We'll specify which process you can expect in your shipping confirmation email.
For carriers that schedule delivery appointments:
Carriers that schedule delivery appointments require you to be home for delivery and provide your signature. The delivery is made with a semi-truck with lift gate services, and the shipment is dropped off at the curb. If you authorize the shipping company to leave the delivery without a signature, BBQGuys can't be held responsible for damages that occur during delivery. As complicated as this process may seem, we've only scratched the surface here — please review our detailed guide to freight delivery so there are no surprises when a freight shipment heads your way.
For carriers that deliver without an appointment:
Carriers that deliver without an appointment don't require you to be home or set up a delivery window, and you aren't required to sign for the pallet(s). Instead of scheduling an appointment, arranging your schedule to be home for the delivery, and signing to confirm receipt, you can sit back and let your items come to you. If you're home at the time of the drop-off, you can request the driver place your delivery in the garage; if you're out of the house, the driver will leave it near the garage or doorstep.
