Ever since I got my Koda 16 several years ago I have been wanting a bit larger of a cooking space. The Koda 2 Max delivers. I really enjoy the extra space as well as the dual temp controls. Great oven.
Having used my friend's Koda 16 in the past, I was nervous about the amount of heat from the flame and stone. On those ovens, I was having to drop the flame right after launching. I'm finding that the Max needs no last minute heat adjustment. The bottom and toppings cook perfectly. I am greatly relieved. I've also cooked some salmon fillets to perfection.
I bought the oven and table when I received the packages the table was damaged and the way the oven is packaged it left marks on top of the oven trying to get in touch with Ooni is a joke now on to making pizza it never gets to the high temperature that they claim the hottest I've seen on mine was 800 and also the right side burner goes out on occasion the stones never got hot enough as they claim so sometimes it sticks and sometimes it burns on top and the dough is not cooked enough
The electronics, digital temperature hub, has malfunctioned from day one. Haven't been able to get support either (have to schedule a real person or accept canned responses). Rather disappointing. Cooking pizza I usually burn it and raw in middle. Mostly on me, learning curve and all.
I have been baking in different Ooni ovens for years and have previously used two Koda 16 for larger numbers of pizzas. I have been able to bake several times with the new Koda 2 Max and I am really impressed with the new oven! I didn't expect much to have changed apart from the extra space, but the changes to the gas system make a big difference. The pizzas are baked very evenly and the flame is not as direct as on the Koda 16 (or other ovens) which means that the pizza can stay close to the flame for longer and doesn't burn as quickly. In addition, the oven holds the heat incredibly well, so that many pizzas can be baked quickly one after the other (and side by side). For me, the Koda 2 Max not only replaces 2 Koda 16 ovens, but now stands as Ooni's best oven yet. Anyone who has the space for it will get an absolute workhorse that can easily cope with any pizza night, any large party or even professional catering / food truck operations and delivers insanely good pizza. The oven also looks really stylish and you can tell straight away that it's an Ooni - and what an Ooni it is! I am in love with it and can wholeheartedly recommend it. The price/performance ratio of the Koda 2 Max is great and if you're looking for a new large pizza oven... you've found it! The only thing to consider is the size and weight. Two people are required for transportation and it needs a table of a suitable size - like the large modular table from Ooni. As an Ooni brand ambassador, I have already been able to test the oven extensively and bake almost 300 pizzas in it, but I would like to emphasize that I did not receive the oven for free. This review is 100% my honest opinion of the oven. If you have any questions, feel free to visit me at @mehlundmehr on Instagram, I'll be happy to help :)
This oven is the best Ooni oven yet. Cooking the best pizza I possibly can has been my main hobby for years, and I'm aware most commercially produced pizzas ovens. Based on my experience with other ovens I've used and other ones I haven't, but I've "studied". I think this oven is easily the best value option if you want to cook pizzas larger than 16inches. Pros: The oven heats up to 800f in about 30 minutes. The oven heats very evenly left to right. Assuming a sufficient 45 minute preheat the stone can recharge in as little as 3-4 minutes. Precision control of the flames is easily achievable with the new burner design. Great value for the money. The removable glass visor makes it easier to cook taller dishes like bread. Still reasonably portable given how large it is. If I remove the stones, it weighs approximately 60 pounds. It's awkward, but I can still manage to load it into the back of my compact SUV by myself. With two people it's much easier to move. Cons: The oven radiates a ton of heat to the area directly in the front of the oven, making the oven not nearly as energy efficient as it could be if it had a vented door, or something similar. Because of that, you'll want longer pizza peels to avoid overheating while working the oven. The gas dials are very sensitive, so it's easy for 1 side to heat a little more than the other if you're not paying attention and don't double check the gas dials are both running the same amount of flame. It would be nice if they would develop an adapter to turn 1 knob to keep both sides at equal flame. The oven's insulating ability seems to be on par with all other Ooni ovens, which means the exterior of the oven is not safe to touch once it has been preheating more than a few minutes. This is understandable though, as it means the oven is smaller and more portable. The oven is advertised as being able to achieve 950f. I've ran it at max flame on both sides for over an hour and the highest ambient temp I've seen is 910 on the right side, and an average ambient temperate of 901f. I double checked with support to make sure I had the oven positioned correctly for air flow and that I was doing everything right. The stone temperature was averaging approximately in the high 800s F, but some areas were peaking around 930F. This isn't a big deal for me as I don't cook close to that temperature normally, but I wanted to make a note of it for anyone who does. All in all, the cons of this oven are all minor and seem to be reasonable trade-offs in design to keep the size and the cost of the oven down. If you want an oven for entertaining a crowd, I don't think there is a better option at $1000 or less.
I have an Ooni Pro multi-fuel and so far the Koda 2 Max seems to be cooking the pizzas notably more evenly than the Pro with the propane insert. And there's more room, it's easier to light, far better temperature control…it's just all around a much better experience.
Oh wow, i tried it before! And it's still cooking good!
I've been a fan of Ooni pizza ovens for a while now, so when I had the chance to upgrade from my trusty Ooni Koda 12 to the new Koda Max 2, I jumped at it. After using it for a few weeks, I have some thoughts to share. First off, the Koda Max 2 is noticeably bigger and heavier than the Koda 12. It's no longer something I can easily move around, which is a bit of a downside for me. But the trade-off is worth it. The larger size means I can cook more food at once, which is fantastic for when we have friends and family over. No more waiting forever to get a pizza on everyone's plate! One of the biggest improvements I've noticed is the cooking performance. The Koda Max 2 heats up quickly and maintains its temperature really well, thanks to the larger baking stones. These stones hold heat much longer than the ones in the Koda 12, which means more consistent cooking and less waiting time between pizzas. Plus, the built-in thermometer is a lifesaver. It's so much easier to keep track of the temperature, making it almost foolproof to get that perfect crispy crust. Another thing I love about the Max 2 is its versatility. I now have a multi-purpose outdoor oven, not just a pizza oven. Looking forward to having the ability to start experimenting with bread, grilling steaks, or trying out some tasty dessert options alongside our wonderful pizzas. Of course, it's not all perfect. The weight and size mean it's pretty much staying put in one spot on my patio. It's not as portable as the Koda 12, which was a bit of a disappointment. But honestly, the improvements in cooking performance and the added features make it a trade-off I'm happy to live with. In summary, while the Ooni Koda Max 2 has its downsides in terms of portability, it more than makes up for it with its larger cooking area, even heat distribution, and built-in thermometer. It's been a fantastic addition to our outdoor cooking setup.
The Koda 2 Max is a beast, was able to cook 5 pizzas in 6 minutes. Heats up to 650 degrees quickly then took a little longer to get up to 800 degrees. Also worked so well with Salmon in the grille pan. Roasted Marshmallows for smore's were ready in 7 seconds.

When will my item arrive?
Once shipped, items usually arrive within 3-5 business days. While UPS and FedEx are our carriers for smaller items, be aware that larger items and orders are shipped via freight. The freight process is a bit more complicated than what we've all come to expect for small parcels, so it's important that you're prepared and understand what's required of you well before delivery day.
- Most freight products ship on a pallet
- Some carriers will call to schedule a delivery window, while others will deliver the shipment to a reasonably accessible location closest to your residence (their goal is to deliver as near a garage door as they can).
- We'll specify which process you can expect in your shipping confirmation email.
For carriers that schedule delivery appointments:
Carriers that schedule delivery appointments require you to be home for delivery and provide your signature. The delivery is made with a semi-truck with lift gate services, and the shipment is dropped off at the curb. If you authorize the shipping company to leave the delivery without a signature, BBQGuys can't be held responsible for damages that occur during delivery. As complicated as this process may seem, we've only scratched the surface here — please review our detailed guide to freight delivery so there are no surprises when a freight shipment heads your way.
For carriers that deliver without an appointment:
Carriers that deliver without an appointment don't require you to be home or set up a delivery window, and you aren't required to sign for the pallet(s). Instead of scheduling an appointment, arranging your schedule to be home for the delivery, and signing to confirm receipt, you can sit back and let your items come to you. If you're home at the time of the drop-off, you can request the driver place your delivery in the garage; if you're out of the house, the driver will leave it near the garage or doorstep.
