I have the original Timberline XL and love it, it's massive and works great. My one complaint is that it only has one probe. This new one looks amazing and I am enjoying reading all the reviews. I will likely upgrade and give my current one to my brother. I was wondering though, it seems like a current trend with some other pellet grill manufacturers is to add a built in wood chips burner box to add additional smoke flavor. Does Traeger have any roadmap plans to offer a similar feature in future iterations of Timberline?

I had a Timberline 850 for 6 months and loved that grill to death. I have only done 5 cooks on this new grill, but while getting to know this grill, i am loving it, especially the new features with this giant grill. It is really way to big for just my wife and me, but i am looking forward to the first big party where i am sure its huge capacity will shine.
My second review since launch, this one being an update to the experience. A long review but absolutely needed. Traeger delivers with smoking in regards to the pellet grill market. The problem is that is all it does with minimal smoke improvement from the regular Timberline series. As far as searing goes I have to say it's atrocious without the induction. Yes, that is why the induction is there but tbh, I don't always want to use a pan to sear on. The gimmick is "wood fired" by pellet grills and a lot of the time, I want to sear on the grill itself specifically on the thick grates they updated to. What you get in return however, is a baked piece of meat. This is due to the grills incapability to revert back to a high searing temp quickly when the lid opens for even a couple seconds to flip something. Again, I understand the idea of the induction but it shouldn't have to be mandatory to grill. Some may agree when I say this, sometimes you just want to grill. By grill I mean you want to reverse sear and do it on the grill with that specific heat source. If I could return it I would. If traeger did a buy back, I would! The problem is manufacturers know that people will be displeased in the grilling community if their products don't live up to the hype so their return policy is "un opened un used" so in the end you're left wanting more, wishing more, and a grill going hardly used. In the realm of pellet grills, this is good for smoking. For a deeper flavor there are better brands for that, specifically OJ and Webers smokefire but this is better usual in terms of build quality. After allll that text what is the final recommendation? I would say you need to seriously consider what you want in a pellet grill, how often you think you'll want to sear on a pan and not the actual grill, and whether the very basic function of this grill outside of it's bells and whistles are what you'll truly be happy with. This isn't something I would recommend to the average joe. This Traeger comes off as a status symbol in my opinion and for a guy like me who could care less about that, I am now stuck with something I really do not care for. At it's basic core, it can smoke. Is it good enough at that to spend this kind of money? No. Will you be stuck with it if you end up disliking it after a long term period? Probably. Going on a month and no one has nibbled on my listing for it. It's a hard pill to swallow when listing a grill so beyond low for what you spent and still, no one wants to take that dive. That speaks volumes.

I've been an avid Traeger Grills fan since they started popping on the market. I have several Traegers, and decided to move from the Timberline 1300 to the Timberline XL. This thing is not ready for the market. First, when I got the grill - it came damaged with a cover. Apparently this was a common thing and they shut down replacing lids until they corrected multiple damaged covers. It took 4 months to receive a new grill cover. Second, I am now stuck in a "Downloading Updates" loop to where I can't even use the grill. I let it run for 2 1/2 hours. Called support, they told me to let it run overnight. I called support again today, they told me to let it run for the rest of the day. Something's broke here. It's not a signal strength issue - my access point is literally right next to it. Support has been extremely rough, not knowing the product or even how to escalate when I can't even use the grill now for several days. One person said it will attempt to download 5 times, then not again, another person said 4 times - then they said it could take up to several weeks to update? What? I can't use my smoker for several weeks? Are you kidding me? This is a complete failure here. The vacuum system is no better than the 1300. They claim it goes into the bucket, but most of the ash is still in the main floor of the smoker where you have to suck it out anyways just like you did on the 1300. Cleaning is the same, features just the same, and I would say my 1300 maintained more consistent temperatures and less fluctuating temperatures. The XL does heat up much faster which is a plus. I'm really disappointed in this grill. Once I get this downloading updates issue fixed, I plan on putting it up on the market to sell so that I can go to a different smoker. I have been a Traeger fan for years and always viewed them as the gold standard for pellet smokers, this has really soured my opinion on the grills and their build quality and for my move off of them completely.

I have not been disappointed with this grill. It was an upgrade from a Traeger "Fremont". This is all I use for cooking now. Easy to set up and use with all the Wi-Fi features
This is the most bestes grill I have ever cooked on!!!
Purchased in July 2022, absolutely the worst Traeger I have owned. Temperature swings are insane, poor design on pellet sensor, receive error messages that I cannot clear. I have to vacuum out the pellet dust the same as the 1300, very little if any ends up in the container. Very over rated, 4k down the drain.

When will my item arrive?
Once shipped, items usually arrive within 3-5 business days. While UPS and FedEx are our carriers for smaller items, be aware that larger items and orders are shipped via freight. The freight process is a bit more complicated than what we've all come to expect for small parcels, so it's important that you're prepared and understand what's required of you well before delivery day.
- Most freight products ship on a pallet
- Some carriers will call to schedule a delivery window, while others will deliver the shipment to a reasonably accessible location closest to your residence (their goal is to deliver as near a garage door as they can).
- We'll specify which process you can expect in your shipping confirmation email.
For carriers that schedule delivery appointments:
Carriers that schedule delivery appointments require you to be home for delivery and provide your signature. The delivery is made with a semi-truck with lift gate services, and the shipment is dropped off at the curb. If you authorize the shipping company to leave the delivery without a signature, BBQGuys can't be held responsible for damages that occur during delivery. As complicated as this process may seem, we've only scratched the surface here — please review our detailed guide to freight delivery so there are no surprises when a freight shipment heads your way.
For carriers that deliver without an appointment:
Carriers that deliver without an appointment don't require you to be home or set up a delivery window, and you aren't required to sign for the pallet(s). Instead of scheduling an appointment, arranging your schedule to be home for the delivery, and signing to confirm receipt, you can sit back and let your items come to you. If you're home at the time of the drop-off, you can request the driver place your delivery in the garage; if you're out of the house, the driver will leave it near the garage or doorstep.
