Bought a year ago and still pleased with what it produces.. no mods here and plan to get the large model at some point
I've always used gas grills and electric smokers but this baby can handle both jobs and produce a much better result. The app makes it easy although it sometimes loses connection. A couple of clicks brings it right back. This is the only grill I've ever seen that can reverse sear a steak with ease.
First off, I'm a convert from a propane gas grill and really love the flexibility to grill AND smoke on the same device. Second, I love the granular temperature control capability and realize this is only possible with some tech involved. However, I've had numerous issues with the Wifi - either an update to my Wifi system or an update to the grill broke the connection. No matter how many times / ways I try to reconnect - it shows the grill is connected, but always times out in the iOS app making that function useless. I love the idea of being able to monitor the temperature and timer on the grill from my phone - especially on those long smokes. But the past few months have been forced to do it the old school, manual way -- and it's not the end of the world. I've had some issues starting it - but finally found some starter blocks that work well and use 3 instead of 2 and as suggested and that seems 100% now. Initially the grill worked awesome - other than the hopper lid having an incorrect part from the factory. With COVID killing good customer service, it was painful getting through to get that part replaced. Shortly after, the electric fan died and again painful to get through to get the replacement ordered. Since then, my hopper lid switch is fickle and takes a manual depress to get the fan to kick in - then a quick close of the lid and it works. I'm also disappointed in the grill cover - 9 months into to it's life and it is severely faded (light gray vs. black) -- and some noticeable rusting in many places on the grill (kept covered at all times when not used). Again, I really want to love the product and think the team is on to a great concept, but needs to continue working through QA issues and beef up parts of their product. I jokingly refer to it as my love:hate relationship with my grill.

The versatility of this grill / smoker is unlike any other grill / smoker i have ever owned. Throw in the ease of use with the gravity fed charcoal controlled with the electric temperature control, makes it very simple to produce great food..A lot of people are modifying this grill but I have not. The only thing i replaced was the temperature gauge on the front.
I've had this grill for several months and every cook has came out amazing
The 800 does everything in one. It smokes, grills, griddles and now has the rotisserie option. From brisket to hibachi it does it all. Stick burner flavor with the ease of a pellet!
The smoker constantly shuts off saying the lid is closed when it is. Replaced a bunch of switches and sensors even a new fan still nothing. Most worthless cooker I've ever purchased. Masterbuilt won't even honor their warranty.

I switched from a traeger pellet smoker back to this one because I wasn't getting a good grilling experience with the traeger holding high temps it would smoke fine but not grill. I really liked the gravity feed lump wood setup with the fine to maintain temp works great for my steaks and of coarse awesome for my smoked jerk and brisket
I bought this 2 months ago and it works great. The temperature is very even across the grate

When will my item arrive?
Once shipped, items usually arrive within 3-5 business days. While UPS and FedEx are our carriers for smaller items, be aware that larger items and orders are shipped via freight. The freight process is a bit more complicated than what we've all come to expect for small parcels, so it's important that you're prepared and understand what's required of you well before delivery day.
- Most freight products ship on a pallet
- Some carriers will call to schedule a delivery window, while others will deliver the shipment to a reasonably accessible location closest to your residence (their goal is to deliver as near a garage door as they can).
- We'll specify which process you can expect in your shipping confirmation email.
For carriers that schedule delivery appointments:
Carriers that schedule delivery appointments require you to be home for delivery and provide your signature. The delivery is made with a semi-truck with lift gate services, and the shipment is dropped off at the curb. If you authorize the shipping company to leave the delivery without a signature, BBQGuys can't be held responsible for damages that occur during delivery. As complicated as this process may seem, we've only scratched the surface here — please review our detailed guide to freight delivery so there are no surprises when a freight shipment heads your way.
For carriers that deliver without an appointment:
Carriers that deliver without an appointment don't require you to be home or set up a delivery window, and you aren't required to sign for the pallet(s). Instead of scheduling an appointment, arranging your schedule to be home for the delivery, and signing to confirm receipt, you can sit back and let your items come to you. If you're home at the time of the drop-off, you can request the driver place your delivery in the garage; if you're out of the house, the driver will leave it near the garage or doorstep.
