You break off a little piece and it woks perfect every time. These are a must have for any of the Masterbuilt products or any other grill for that matter. I used it with my chimney and my portable grill, that starts with a W, and it was so much easier than worrying about stuffing enough paper paper in it. "Great Product" for sure. Also the Masterbuilt series smoker/grills are the best product on the market.
I've had this for a while now, still consider myself a novice when it comes to smoking different types of meat, but I'm learning. I picked this grill because I've always preferred charcoal grill flavor. While I'm sure it's not quite as easy as a pellet type smoker to get up and running when you want to smoke something I liked the fact that I could change smoke flavors between cooks without having to empty the hopper and reloading with different pellets. I also liked how hot you could get this grill/smoker for searing meats.I have not been disappointed with anything I've smoked yet. The phone app was a little disappointing to start with, but it seems the upgrades have really helped the issues I was having there. My only negative feeling towards this grill is I haven't found an easy reliable way to light it. It's not horrible, but sometimes it takes more than one try. Over all I love this thing and I wouldn't trade it for any other kind.
I bought this a month ago. We are scrapping our five burner gas grill now. Excellent grill. Quick to heat. Easy to use. Excellent features. Incredible grill.
I bought the 1050 about two months ago. Only missed two weekend cooks. My downsides are, filled stocked with fuel, only lasts about 5 hours. Will try different hardwood brand. Second, tried an 11 lbp whole chicken on the rotisserie. After about a half hour, the rotisserie failed. I tried the rotisserie again after dinner with nothing on it. It's dead Jim. I'm a little disappointed. Average rating based on rotisserie.

This is the best charcoal grill I've owned, it's exactly as advertised & I couldn't be happier with it! Both the grill & griddle functions offer endless possibilities & this thing will crank up the heat! 5 stars!

Have gone round and round with trying different grills/cookers, looking for "the one" that does it all and does it all well. Pellet grills All lack the ability to produce the high heat needed for great searing or fast grilling and they struggle terribly with temp recovery when lid is opened. These gravity feds have amazingly fast temp recovery and get to grilling temps faster than you can imagine. You get real wood smoke flavor and it's easily controlled by how many chunks you add/etc. These keep temp perfectly and hardly waver at all. I never thought I'd like the griddle options, but once I tried it I saw the light, it's fantastic! Had tried the char-griller gravity fed, but returned it and happily kept my Masterbuilt 800 instead, love it.

I have a reverse-flow stick burner that produces consistent results but requires a lot of attention to manage the temperature. The thermostatic control on the MasterBuilt is the big plus and the consistent heat plus smoke has provided comparable results on all but one item I have smoked so far. The one item was pork butt. Due to the heavy fat cap (even after trimming", both pieces caught fire and were mostly carbon crusted. The fire singed other food in the smoker with the pork butt. Lesson: high fat content may be difficult unless placed in a pan. I did pork belly on the first use and I didn't have a problem. Brisket, sausage, Beef short ribs, hot dogs, turkey breast, pork loin and salmon have all come out as good as with the Lang. I hope to try the griddle on Memorial Day weekend. Due to foul weather concerns about powering the fan and thermostat and not wanting to get out an extension cord, I purchased a Jackery rechargeable power pack. It got me through three, four-hour smoking sessions. The clean up is different from the my stick burner--with it's design, I can steam-clean the grates; with the MasterBuilt, I now have a big tub in which I do a soap and water clean up of the racks after most sessions.
I purchased the MB1050 a few weeks ago after reading several reviews. I am pleased in its performance with the temp rising from 225 to 700 deg in a very short time. I have cooked ribs, burgers, roast and I will cook a brisket this weekend. I can have as much smoke as I want. I highly recommend this product.

I have had the grill/smoker for many months now and use it often. I was looking for smoker grill upgrade and wanted something different then pellets that are popular. Food comes out great. Add a few chunks of wood to the fuel box and ash box and it gives fantastic smoke. Variable speed fan and pid controller keeps temp steady however actual temp range inside the grill varies greatly. Right side of grill is much hotter then the set point. Sometimes a difference of 70 degrees. The wifi connection is horrible basically uses Bluetooth always defaults to Bluetooth and app has no way to choose wifi instead. They came out with a firmware update that was to fix some pid bugs and wifi connection issues but I don't see any impressive changes. Advertised as being able to go to 700 degrees however if your cooking something like chicken or burgers the grill will definitely catch the grease on fire. This happened to me many times so you can't really go from low and slow to sear as easy as advertised.

When will my item arrive?
Once shipped, items usually arrive within 3-5 business days. While UPS and FedEx are our carriers for smaller items, be aware that larger items and orders are shipped via freight. The freight process is a bit more complicated than what we've all come to expect for small parcels, so it's important that you're prepared and understand what's required of you well before delivery day.
- Most freight products ship on a pallet
- Some carriers will call to schedule a delivery window, while others will deliver the shipment to a reasonably accessible location closest to your residence (their goal is to deliver as near a garage door as they can).
- We'll specify which process you can expect in your shipping confirmation email.
For carriers that schedule delivery appointments:
Carriers that schedule delivery appointments require you to be home for delivery and provide your signature. The delivery is made with a semi-truck with lift gate services, and the shipment is dropped off at the curb. If you authorize the shipping company to leave the delivery without a signature, BBQGuys can't be held responsible for damages that occur during delivery. As complicated as this process may seem, we've only scratched the surface here — please review our detailed guide to freight delivery so there are no surprises when a freight shipment heads your way.
For carriers that deliver without an appointment:
Carriers that deliver without an appointment don't require you to be home or set up a delivery window, and you aren't required to sign for the pallet(s). Instead of scheduling an appointment, arranging your schedule to be home for the delivery, and signing to confirm receipt, you can sit back and let your items come to you. If you're home at the time of the drop-off, you can request the driver place your delivery in the garage; if you're out of the house, the driver will leave it near the garage or doorstep.
