As reported the insulated chamber lends to steady long chamber temperatures with the use of less coals for smoking and indirect cooking which is a time and $ saver. If there ever came a time I needed to add coals in the long smokes..it would be practically impossible due to the lack of access. Adding wood lumps for the super long smoking method is practically impossible as well. I often found myself wishing I had a door to the coal chamber to add wood chip/lumps as with the Weber Smokey Mountain. A taller lid top with an accessory would be wonderful inorder to be able to hang meats as in barrel smoking. Perfection is a taller lid with a hanging accessory and an access door to the coal/wood chamber. Insulating the chamber is genius!!!
Holds temps well, easy to control. There is one air leak on the seal, hoping it goes away with time. Overall a very good kamado, they anyone should be happy with.
I use my Kamari almost daily. I have smoked beef jerky @ 150o for 5 hours, smoked Boston butt @ 260 degrees for 9 hours and reverse seared countless steaks. This thing can handle any job you throw at it, from low and slow sustained heat to super hot and fast. Makes great pizza too!
This grill does everything I very well. I am very happy with my purchase. I prefer it over the BGE. I think Weber should do more in their marketing to promote the virtues of insulated steel over ceramic: weight, less fragile, better temp control if you over shoot, ability to use briquettes and lump.

Best charcoal grill I have ever owned! The utensil hooks could be larger but overall fantastic
The Summit is an awesome grill in every respect, but the characteristic that I like best is heat retention. Now i can do, for example, multiple chickens in the time it took me to do one on other platforms. I also recently smoked a 8 lbs pork butt and the Summit consistently maintained 270 degrees throughout the cook. I love this grill!
Excellent Kamado…temp control is very manageable compared to my BGE. (Meaning your can dial it down quicker than ceramic due to radiant heat retention of ceramics). Only wish Weber had a multi-level cooking grid system (not just the add on top rack) such as the eggspander. I will piece something similar together to get the MAX cooking area. But I do LOVE this grill. Solid construction and well balanced lid with easy ash cleaning.

Easy to control temps when slow smoking and fast searing. Adjustable charcoal grate makes it easy to smoke at a low temp then increase heat for a reverse sear. Lid gasket gives a good seal for stable temps even if it is cold or windy. Heat diffuser plate is a great place to put a water pan or a drip pan. Access doors in grate allow coals to be added during cook. Large enough to place coals in baskets on both sides and cook indirect in the center of the grill. Well made, easy to assemble with good assembly directions.
I have been wanting to upgrade for years and finally pulled the trigger! Well worth it! Fully built it is very sturdy. Lots of compliments from family and friends on how well it is built. Cooked a 15 lb turkey on it on Thanksgiving. Came out awesome. Looking forward to having it forever.
I got the Summit Kamado because I am a Weber loyal griller. I have had success cooking a variety of meats and veggies on this grill. I have not tried making baked goods or pizza yet, but I plan to give those both a try in the near future. There are some downsides to this grill. While it is much lighter than a ceramic kamado grill, the double wall construction only applies to the top two thirds. The bottom of the grill is single walled, and the air gap does not appear to be sealed like on other metal kamado grills so the grill is subject to more fluctuations with temperatures. The one touch cleaning system works well, but there is little difference between the settings for grilling and smoking which is vital when you try to control the amount of air entering a grill. The top vent is also lacking in features for a grill of this expense. Similar grills provide measurements or a scale for controlling the amount of air/smoke exiting a grill. The top vent also spins all the way around whenever the lid is opened. I suspect this will improve as the vent and grill become seasoned, but it is an oversight for such an expensive grill. The final spot for improvement is related to the management of charcoal and the addition of fuel to a grill. My first two major smokes required additional fuel beyond the recommended amounts found in the grill manual. This was unexpected due to the grills stated level of efficiency. In order to add fuel, I had to remove the meats from the grill as well as the deflector plate before I could get to the fuel box. Weber should either make adding fuel easier, or improve the efficiency of the grill so the recommended level of fuel can complete a cook. I won't be returning the grill to the store, but I will think twice about buying it again when it needs to be repaired or replaced.

When will my item arrive?
Once shipped, items usually arrive within 3-5 business days. While UPS and FedEx are our carriers for smaller items, be aware that larger items and orders are shipped via freight. The freight process is a bit more complicated than what we've all come to expect for small parcels, so it's important that you're prepared and understand what's required of you well before delivery day.

- Some carriers will call to schedule a delivery window, while others will deliver the shipment to a reasonably accessible location closest to your residence (their goal is to deliver as near a garage door as they can).

Carriers that schedule delivery appointments require you to be home for delivery and provide your signature. The delivery is made with a semi-truck with lift gate services, and the shipment is dropped off at the curb. Carriers that deliver without an appointment don't require you to be home or set up a delivery window, and you aren't required to sign for the pallet(s). Instead of scheduling an appointment, arranging your schedule to be home for the delivery, and signing to confirm receipt, you can sit back and let your items come to you. If you're home at the time of the drop-off, you can request the driver place your delivery in the garage; if you're out of the house, the driver will leave it near the garage or doorstep.
