It appears as if it is just a simple screwdriver slot to unscrew it but the plastic is so soft a screw driver just chewed it up. Just needs to be a different method for battery enclosure. The fact that the bracing is right on top of it also makes it difficult to use any tool to open. The indicator of how the batteries should be placed in is good, however it is difficult to ascertain how the cap should be situated before screwing it on. The little unlock/lock icons is helpful but the cap only goes on one way but you don't know that until a lot of trial and error. Some marking should be on the round cap to help you line it up.

This bbq light is well made and produces decent light to cover the width of the prestige 500 grill top. There are 2 setting to adjust the light. I would have preferred 3 settings with the 3rd setting being brighter. I live in Miami and have had the light outside in the rain for over 1 month and it has held up well.

Attaching the light to the grill handle was a bit more difficult as the light handle had to be squeezed tightly to enable the screw to meet the corresponding proper location. The light itself provides plenty of illumination to the entire grill surface so overall a pretty good product. A bit more explanation in the instructions would help with the install.
