I've used the Traeger probe with all my smokes, and I learned after the 2nd time to always have a back up thermometer. Today it's high by 40dF. My pork is 165, and showing 205 on my Traeger. It doesn't even make sense based on the cook time. Sorry, but I highly recommend using a separate meat thermometer
I been using the probe for just about every cook. I first noticed that everything I was cooking; Pork shoulder/butt, Pork tenderloin, Turkey, Beef brisket - were all taking hours longer to cook than expected. My first brisket finished at least 4 hours longer than it should have. When taking off the smoker, it was like jerky. For Thanksgiving this year, the turkey went an extra 2 hours. Luckily I checked the temperature with another thermometer and it was 20+ degrees above target. No wonder all my smokes have been taking extra long! Most meats have been good, but they could have been a lot better. The brisket was the worst. I decided to recalibrate the thermometer and tried another turkey. Same issue/result, Traeger Probe Thermometer is consistently off 20 or so degrees. Really wish this would work. I use a Traeger Silverton 620.

I have had my Traeger for 5 years. Use it 4 out of 7 days a week. The probe has been accurate for both turkey and prime rib. Saved my hide a few times because cooking times very with different weather ie extreme cold or wind. Kept an eye on the temp every 30 to 45 min. Good thing I did as it was ready about 45 minutes early!

6 months old and got an error that says bad probe. Out of stock online. Now constantly have to open the grill and check meat temp with a thermometer.
Great smoker but bit upset my new puppy ate through both probes - husband is not happy!
I had to replace the circuit for my probes some time ago under warranty. Now I too have a broken probe tip. I have managed to retrieve the tip from within the connection. So the second probe works in either connector. But why would I buy a replacement if it seems others have had the same issues. Annoying only having one probe but will have to do. Unless Traeger upgrade their probes.
My grill came with a white and black temperature probe and they are very inaccurate.
The one that came with our smoker broke for no apparent reason. And now this product is out of stock. =(
I have only used my original probe when cooking brisket, and once for a turkey. Today I went to use it on a brisket (only the 5th occasion I have used it). It would not connect. Upon inspection, I found that the tip of the probe has broken off at the plastic joint, similar to another customer's experience on this review site. Now that I know that this is not an isolated issue, I will not be replacing it. Love my Traeger, but they need to make the connectors on these probes out of metal, not plastic.
We had upgraded our Barbeque style Traeger with the new two-probe controller a year or so ago and it came with two of these thermocouples. They are very accurate when comparing results with our Pampered Chef and other brand thermocouples. However, the metal tip broke off one of the plug-ins after about 75 uses adjacent to the plastic ring and has rendered the #1 connection inoperable (the tip is lodged in the female part of the connection). We noticed that the second connector has a slight bend at the tip and will likely fail soon. There may be an alignment issue of the connection at the tip of the female connection causing the failure. .

When will my item arrive?
Once shipped, items usually arrive within 3-5 business days. While UPS and FedEx are our carriers for smaller items, be aware that larger items and orders are shipped via freight. The freight process is a bit more complicated than what we've all come to expect for small parcels, so it's important that you're prepared and understand what's required of you well before delivery day.
- Most freight products ship on a pallet
- Some carriers will call to schedule a delivery window, while others will deliver the shipment to a reasonably accessible location closest to your residence (their goal is to deliver as near a garage door as they can).
- We'll specify which process you can expect in your shipping confirmation email.
For carriers that schedule delivery appointments:
Carriers that schedule delivery appointments require you to be home for delivery and provide your signature. The delivery is made with a semi-truck with lift gate services, and the shipment is dropped off at the curb. If you authorize the shipping company to leave the delivery without a signature, BBQGuys can't be held responsible for damages that occur during delivery. As complicated as this process may seem, we've only scratched the surface here — please review our detailed guide to freight delivery so there are no surprises when a freight shipment heads your way.
For carriers that deliver without an appointment:
Carriers that deliver without an appointment don't require you to be home or set up a delivery window, and you aren't required to sign for the pallet(s). Instead of scheduling an appointment, arranging your schedule to be home for the delivery, and signing to confirm receipt, you can sit back and let your items come to you. If you're home at the time of the drop-off, you can request the driver place your delivery in the garage; if you're out of the house, the driver will leave it near the garage or doorstep.
