Bought the Baron 440 this May. I kept it covered and used it only moderately this summer. Performed the recommended maintenance in terms of cleaning and seasoning the cast iron cooking grids. Started seeing rust appear on the grids midway through the summer. As it turns out, the porcelain enamel itself has clearly chipped away in myriad spots throughout the grids. (Picture attached). I probably used the grill a total of 30 times! I see there are now more expensive stainless steel grids being offered, probably as a result of this chipping problem! Happy with the grill itself, but not pleased at all about the grids.

Thank you for taking the time to provide this feedback. We are sorry to hear about the issue you are experiencing with the cooking grids. We will be following up via email to discuss the issue in more detail.
I purchased my grill 2 years ago so I just finished my second summer with it and the grates are rusting out as well as the metal shields underneath. This BBQ is on a covered porch and is cleaned on a regular basis and seasoned. The replacement parts are ridiculous in terms of cost. I've owned a few good BBQ's but I'm not sold on these

We bought a new Broil King Regal grill 18 months ago and even though we've seasoned the grill and kept the BBQ protected from the elements year round, the grills start rusting out this spring and are now flaking badly and are unusable. The replacement parts are quite expensive and it makes no sense to replace with another cast iron set. I'd appreciate some advice on a better alternative. It's really unfortunate as the BBQ itself has been great.

Same issue here. Love the grill but after 1 1/2 years grids are starting to rust. Not sure what my options are but I am not happy.

These cast iron grids don't seem to last. I started noticing peeling of the coating last year (after 2 years), even after seasoning the grids couple times a year. Now it's so bad that I have to throw it out. The replacements cost an arm and leg. I would think Broil King would make cooking grids that would last a bit longer.
I've had my BBQ for years and am fastidious about cleaning and seasoning my grills (foodie problems). My grills started rusting in the second year I had my BBQ and are now horrific. I didn't want to shell out the extra $100+ for new grills to have the same problem. Now I see that there are new stainless options at more than double this cost. I love supporting local business, but wish that there was a trade in or reduced cost replacement program to upgrade to the stainless grills.
We have been using these grids on our imperial for quite some time now. They are OK but will definitely not last us a lifetime. We do oil the grids before and after each use and that keeps the tops fine but there would be a need to take the grids out and oil the underside after every cook. These means getting dirty every time. I think that it is a bit of a design flaw in having so much cast exposed on the bottom side. They are now rusty to the point that we will likely never cook on the underside. I wonder if the cast stainless would be the answer to this design flaw. Any way considering how much of an investment we made on our Imperial I would have expected more.

Purchased the Baron S490 in June 2014 and I now need to replace the 4 grilles. When I brush the grilles pieces of metal flake off and have also flaked off during cooking. I spent the money on a quality product and now i have to replace the grilles. Hoping there is a better route than cast iron. Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks

When will my item arrive?
Once shipped, items usually arrive within 3-5 business days. While UPS and FedEx are our carriers for smaller items, be aware that larger items and orders are shipped via freight. The freight process is a bit more complicated than what we've all come to expect for small parcels, so it's important that you're prepared and understand what's required of you well before delivery day.
- Most freight products ship on a pallet
- Some carriers will call to schedule a delivery window, while others will deliver the shipment to a reasonably accessible location closest to your residence (their goal is to deliver as near a garage door as they can).
- We'll specify which process you can expect in your shipping confirmation email.
For carriers that schedule delivery appointments:
Carriers that schedule delivery appointments require you to be home for delivery and provide your signature. The delivery is made with a semi-truck with lift gate services, and the shipment is dropped off at the curb. If you authorize the shipping company to leave the delivery without a signature, BBQGuys can't be held responsible for damages that occur during delivery. As complicated as this process may seem, we've only scratched the surface here — please review our detailed guide to freight delivery so there are no surprises when a freight shipment heads your way.
For carriers that deliver without an appointment:
Carriers that deliver without an appointment don't require you to be home or set up a delivery window, and you aren't required to sign for the pallet(s). Instead of scheduling an appointment, arranging your schedule to be home for the delivery, and signing to confirm receipt, you can sit back and let your items come to you. If you're home at the time of the drop-off, you can request the driver place your delivery in the garage; if you're out of the house, the driver will leave it near the garage or doorstep.
