I just took one of my cooking grates and laid it directly on top of the flavorizer bars. So I've got two levels of grates now. When doing steaks or burgers I put the meat on the lower grate, right over the flavorizer bar, and I keep the lid open. It gets a nice sear (maybe not professional but who cares) and the center is still medium rare.

I am referbishing My Genius grill and replacing many parts including the cooking box cover etcetra! Having an engineering background I want to comment on how well the Genesis Gold barbecue is engineered from an assembly point of view. A minimal number of screws screw into plastic inserts that facilitate easy disassembly. Assembly parts fit snugly and are sturdy when assembled. Bravo to the designing engineers.

In theory this is a great idea but when placed on a Genesis II 435 it will not fit well, it overlaps with the other griddle and it seems higher. Also, yjis item does not retain well heat, searing marks might be ok but what really matter is not the looks but food well cooked, that means )for the real steak lovers), a great crunchy sear and a medium rare in the inside. This does not happen, Im not sure why but high heat is difficult to achieve.

When will my item arrive?
Once shipped, items usually arrive within 3-5 business days. While UPS and FedEx are our carriers for smaller items, be aware that larger items and orders are shipped via freight. Carriers that deliver without an appointment don't require you to be home or set up a delivery window, and you aren't required to sign for the pallet(s). Instead of scheduling an appointment, arranging your schedule to be home for the delivery, and signing to confirm receipt, you can sit back and let your items come to you. If you're home at the time of the drop-off, you can request the driver place your delivery in the garage; if you're out of the house, the driver will leave it near the garage or doorstep.
