All my friends that have a pellet grill have a Traeger. I went back and forth and researched differences. I ultimately decided on the Pit Boss Pro 820. Perfect size for what I need and way more versatile then the competition. I am now addicted to smoking, have had zero issues and the construction is top notch. Could not be happier.

Had a little troubles with the grill connecting to my app lat help me out real good walk me through all of it real good company here
Bought a month ago. After about 5 cooks, the auger started filling the firebox at a high rate so the grill will not ignite. Either defective control unit or auger.
I have had this a month and plan on having it a lifetime. If you're considering buying one keep a few things in mind as there is some maintenance involved. One of the common issues is cracking paint. If you raise the temperature up gradually during your burnoff this shouldn't happen. Also do your cleanings as recommended by the manual. And if you can keep the deflector and sear plates seasoned like you would cast iron as they are prone to rust. Like with any other pellet grill or smoker you are going to have temperature swings. They will settle in better after a half an hour: don't worry. All in all everything I have cooked on it has been perfect. Smoke on
POSITIVES: This is a GREAT value. It came with the unit, dual probes, many cooking racks, and a custom cover. It has been used consistently since March 2019 and worked for everything from burgers, fries, and chicken breast to wings, briskets, and pork shoulders. We use it like an outdoor 'oven' many nights in the summer. You can cook for your whole family and neighbors all in one unit that takes up less space than a grill. The hopper size allows for a worry-free overnight cook, even in 20F outdoor temperatures. The water/drip tray offers excellent moisture to enhance the smoke flavor and is large enough to prevent lots of cabinet openings on a long, low smoke. The probes are key for getting temperature readings without having to open things up. It is easy to clean out, especially after a 16-hour brisket run. DELTAS: The controller being at the bottom is a lackluster design. The face plate is already delaminating because grease and moisture seep around the door seal and onto the controller. It also gets dripped on when opening the door to pull food and/or add water. It would be better if there was a protective (and retractable) lip in the frame between the door and controller. Another option would be to have the controller side mounted flush with the cabinet. The casters are too small to efficiently support the weight of this unit when rolling on anything but smooth surfaces. (My ritual is to roll this out for use each time and have a pop-up tent ready to protect against rain, snow, dew, etc. so my experience may be different than yours.) This causes a fair amount of cautious maneuvering and a bit of a lift over any driveway expansion joints or deck board spaces. It also led to blue Loctite on many screws to keep them in place. It would be nice to have a collapsible work tray on at least one side. Sometimes the probe wires get pinched in the door which causes them to lose connection. Having a dedicated way to run them would help. SUMMARY: This is my first pellet smoker, after having used charcoal and propane my entire life. It does an excellent job as a smoker and you can almost grill with it. There are some design drawbacks that would likely steer me clear of replacing parts to instead put that money towards a higher-end vertical pellet smoker. Bottom line, this has been an excellent value for the money spent.

Just bought a new Pitboss Pro Series 820D3. This will be my second pitboss first still working but I was wanting a new one with shelves. First one was a 700 series with no where to sit things needed while cooking, it's in my son-in-laws yard now. It was a great grill and a great learning tool on using a pellet grill but time for advancement just hope this one last as long as the last one has. these things are great for all types of cooking, smoking, baking and grilling. Simply love them
First pellet smoker and even though it has a lot of space it takes up less of a footprint than a regular grill style smoker. I have smoked just about everything in it. Just made pizza in it for the first time and pork belly burnt ends. Really only flaw is the screen. The digital screen needs to be updated to be easier to see and the letters/numbers are in and out a lot, but I use my own wireless temp probe. Glass is easy to clean with regular oven cleaner and a razor blade.

Love this smoker/ all in one, first time using anything like this and I'm impressed. Everything from the recipes, how it runs, the extra features it has, and the food has been amazing, smoking meats has been amazing. Not impressed by Lowe's, I never got offered any finance (even though I have a Lowe's credit card), never got offered a warranty plan, rude customer service, ended up retightening at the screws because it wasn't put together properly, and on top of it I never got my broiler slide control lever that was suppose to come with it. I know this is not Pit Boss's fault but I would recommend buying their grill from someone else or from Pit Boss themselves.
I bought my 820 Sportsman at Costco. Went after. Traeger for $699 and found this little jewel for $479! Heavier build and with the flame broiler feature, even more functionality! First thing I cooked a was a whole packer brisket. It was perfect. The I cooked a pizza on a pizza stone. Wood fired pizza was also very good. Lastly, bone in chicken thighs. Love the level of smoke I am able to attain. Overall this was an awesome purchase. Much better than my old tradition side fire box smoker. Set it and forget it smoking is just as nice as it sounds!
I've owned the 820 Pro series for 18 months now and it's been great! I have a nice gas grill connected to my natural gas line, but hardly use it because the flavor of the pellet grille is just so much better! The only issue I've had is my ignitor (element) went out and I'm trying to get it replaced. Other than that, no issues.

When will my item arrive?
Once shipped, items usually arrive within 3-5 business days. While UPS and FedEx are our carriers for smaller items, be aware that larger items and orders are shipped via freight. The freight process is a bit more complicated than what we've all come to expect for small parcels, so it's important that you're prepared and understand what's required of you well before delivery day.
- Most freight products ship on a pallet
- Some carriers will call to schedule a delivery window, while others will deliver the shipment to a reasonably accessible location closest to your residence (their goal is to deliver as near a garage door as they can).
- We'll specify which process you can expect in your shipping confirmation email.
For carriers that schedule delivery appointments:
Carriers that schedule delivery appointments require you to be home for delivery and provide your signature. The delivery is made with a semi-truck with lift gate services, and the shipment is dropped off at the curb. If you authorize the shipping company to leave the delivery without a signature, BBQGuys can't be held responsible for damages that occur during delivery. As complicated as this process may seem, we've only scratched the surface here — please review our detailed guide to freight delivery so there are no surprises when a freight shipment heads your way.
For carriers that deliver without an appointment:
Carriers that deliver without an appointment don't require you to be home or set up a delivery window, and you aren't required to sign for the pallet(s). Instead of scheduling an appointment, arranging your schedule to be home for the delivery, and signing to confirm receipt, you can sit back and let your items come to you. If you're home at the time of the drop-off, you can request the driver place your delivery in the garage; if you're out of the house, the driver will leave it near the garage or doorstep.
